I think that if you're just starting with doing your hair and have no hair tools it could be useful but taking myself for example I have so many hair tools already that I don't think it's worth adding to an already full stash. It is an interesting tool though. Thanks for reviewing it, your hair looks nice. 💜
I have this and it’s fab. My hair is very curly, thick and around mid back length. To dry and straighten my hair it takes me an hour, with the duet it’s around 40 mins. The dryer is around 130 degrees c the smoother (platinum plates) runs at 185 degrees c. It’s best used with there new styling oil. Also you get a better result and it’s faster to take thinner sections horizontally at the back. The roots are straighter that way. What I’ve found is that the smoothness and longevity it’s the best ever. I also have the dyson airwrap, for smooth straight hair this blows it away. I’ve also managed to do beach waves with it. My only negative is it does feel heavy after about 30 mins of holding it.
Do you also have the Dyson AirStrait? If so, which one do you like better and why? I love my GHD flat iron. I’m getting my Dyson AirStrait today I can’t wait to try it out. Thank you 😊
Thank you for reviewing!! I’ve been playing with mine and found that it doesn’t take as long if I use my Airwrap dryer to get most of the dampness out of my hair and then switch to this tool for a more sleek look. Overall, I love this product!!
i have incredibly curly, thick, frizzy hair which i find impossible to straighten myself at home because i simply can’t blow dry it straight enough with a round brush however this product is an absolute dream for me! my hair genuinely looks like i’ve just gotten it done at the salon, it took me around an hour and a half to do my hair first time i used it which i think is alright since i’m not accustomed to using hair tools
We're obsessed with how your hair turned out 😍 we are so proud to be able to say that our duet style causes no damage to your hair when going from wet to styled! To answer your question, when in drying mode the plates are set to a lower temp of 248F and the air flow is at 302F to ensure your hair stays healthy while maintaining all that shine✨
Every video I’ve seen on this has the same one complaint-the roots are frizzy. Which makes total sense considering the air vent in the side is blowing the roots against the hair shaft and making it rougher. If they could make this work 3 ways (hair dryer through side vents, straightener with air vents in the middle with plates and just a straighter without any air vents), then it would be a home run.
As a hairdresser of over 35 years, I have to say, a no damage guarantee is impossible. Especially at those temperatures. I have no clue how they can get away with that claim, but I suspect there are many asterisks after that claim in the packaging/advertising. 🤔
I agree, i only used this once on my blonde highlited hair and broke a lot of my hair off leaving hairs spiking up all over my head! My hair went so thin after one use of this! I had to get a good hair cut after using it.
It seems like this tool is for people who like the sleek look. I love my hair to have body, movement and volume so I will pass on it. Love my Airwrap. Thank you for the review!
I bought one when they first came out Agreed, my roots are frizzy too Only used it a few times as I’m lazy at the moment but other than that it does work nicely just takes a while to get used of it as it’s quite large ….. probably best to dry it to about 70/80% with a blow dryer then use it to finish off as it’s intended to be, don’t use it on completely wet hair
Just used mine I think it’s good but takes awhile and I didn’t dry all my roots tbh but I ll finish straightening it tomorrow when it’s dry . I like that it doesn’t look as frizzy as when I do it with hairdryer! Looks smoother for sure on my hair
I could see myself buying this for use after blow drying. Using the GHD to flat iron when the hair has a few sections of dampness because a regular straightener would fry/ sizzle hair with any dampness. Hair should be bone dry before straightening. I love the smooth sleek result. I would never use it on wet hair. I have way too much hair it would take all day to dry my hair.
The first time you use a new tool, it's hard to get used to so it takes a lot longer. That being said... Also, I'm convinced (through experience) that things work better if you brush in between, even if you just catch the hair with a brush instead of your hand, which should add no time (just like Melania did later into the video).
I agree. I have long hair, I blow dry them in about 5 to 6 min, and then I can straighten them (or curl them) in about 10 minutes. My blow dry is the GHD Helios, very effective ! I don't see the point of this tool, if it takes more than 30minutes to blow dry and straighten and if it only straightens them...
When you only did half your hair, I thought you were going to compare it against your normal process on the other side. That would have been interesting to see as far as time and results.
I think it will finish faster if we dry our hair first and then use a GHD straightener, it will shorten the time even more. and this GHD sound is very loud and can disturb people who are sleeping. Because I only have time to wash my hair and beautify my hair at night when my husband is fast asleep. I don't think this tool can help me because of the loud sound. But thank you for reviewing this tool 🥰
It would have been nice 2 have a timed race between that tool and your normal method of drying and using a straightener...and really compare the feeling of your hair after.
Honestly, I’m IN LOVE with mine. I always blow dry and straighten my hair, so this works really well. It minimizes frizz and makes my hair so incredibly soft and shiny, it’s literally so amazing on my hair. Also, I don’t have very thick hair, so it’s not time consuming for me at all. So I would assume the thicker the hair, the more time it would require. I love mine so much and it’s totally worth the purchase. The roots can be hard, but really, just hold it super close to the scalp and you’re fine. 🥰🥰🥰
I would love a follow up on this, mine worked great at first but now it doesn’t blow as well and takes forever to dry my hair. Worked great about 6 months and now not so much.
Thanks for reviewing! Too expensive for all the time and work you have to do. Seems that frizz at the top of the hair is happening to everyone that has reviewed it so far.
Your hair looked beautiful after using this way too expensive tool ($400.00?😒). I air dry my very long hair & then use a Conair heat adjustable flatiron that cost me $30.00 and takes 10 minutes tops!🤗
I never trust those tools idk why lol I'm a typical hairdresser that just uses a blow dryer just faster and quicker for me, I know its not easy for everyone else so these tools are helpful for that. This seems like its too time consuming because of how many times you have to go over it to make sure its dry tho. At least it seemed that way. I would like maybe a comparison with what you use to style your hair on a daily basis to see the time difference between them.
What about the inch that grows after you finish your whole head 😆 Nice idea, but appears to take wayyyy too long. My arms wouldn't hold up having to go over each section multiple times.
I like the concept but for the price, ehh. There are better tools out there and you can use a good heat protector in combination and get way better results for a fraction of the cost of this tool. It made your hair look fluffy though, very pretty baby hairs and all!
When i have my hair straightened in a salon they only ever dry my hair about 80 percent. We pay $600 in australia . You can buy and use the ghd oil to use with it
Tbh, since I bought my Dyson airwrape 3 years ago, I think that other hair tools that came out later are not necessary. Nothing is stood out to me. And I think most of the products purpose are basically the same as the Dyson air wrap just in different styles.
It seems like it would take less time to just use a great blow dryer and a straightener. I curl my hair so this wouldn’t work for me anyway and at the price of it, I can’t see spending that much money for a hair tool especially with everything else is so expensive now.
Hmm.. i am wondering if you really can curl your hair a day or so later? I remember with the wet to straight, it was almost impossible to get a curl to hold a day or so after using that!
I have this I always rough dry my hair 80 percent before any styling tools and I find that speeds everything up. I use more as finishing tool on almost dry hair
@London_Liv I guess for me I do this for every tool I use not just this one. You don't have to do that but my hair texture I feel I need to speed up in the morning so I like to get most of the water out first super quickly to get to work
I would be curious to see how it compares to the Revlon/Dyson smoothing brush or a regular hairdryer + straightener in terms of time and final result. Has anyone tried this with a more course/ wavy hair? Thank you for the review!
That’s good they put a big box to keep the product more protected. You need to do your hair when it’s wet like this when you test products or else it looks like they don’t work because your hair is already straight in a lot of the videos. Look like a fun thing to try but just not realistic.
If I was sure that this new expensive would work on my thick and wavy hair, I would buy it. However, it is a shame that you cannot try it before buying it as it was so very pricey.
Any hairdresser will tell you you absolutely never ever ever flat iron wet or damp hair. It literally boils the water that’s under your hair cuticles and will just destroy your hair.
I can’t tell if this is an old or new video… I thought Milana’s hair was a lot longer … maybe she had a hair cut… I think this tool would be good for people with curly hair who want to straighten their hair.
Could be burning the product that was applied. I wouldn’t buy it too expensive like the Dyson but I still prefer theRevlon styling brush for my long wavy hair
