The nun is a movie about an unspeakable evil that comes from a hole in the center of the earth. So evil that an abbey must be constructed on top of it and a full crew of nuns must bless the sight 24/7 for the rest of time. The evil then takes the form of a nun in order to traverse the abbey without suspicion and begins to kill every nun 1 by 1 until it takes control of the abbey. They somehow fucked this concept up.
One thing I always find funny in movies like this: the upside-down cross is not Satanic in any way, shape, or form. An upside-cross is referred to as the St. Peter's Cross. The symbol originates from the Catholic tradition that when sentenced to death, Peter requested that his cross be upside down, as he felt unworthy of being crucified in the same manner as Jesus. So it's like spinning the cross from "Jesus Mode" to "Humble Modesty Mode". Great video as always GG, keep it up and I hope you're having a good year
THIS. That's what makes anti-Christian goths so funny, too. They clearly dont even know what the symbol of satan is 🙃 I believe the upside down cross being associated with the devil wasn't even a thing until the 1970s?
Seeing the nun in theaters was one of the best theater experiences I have had. Not because it was good but everyone there just erupting in laughter at the serious or scary parts
The scene where the Nun is sat in the middle of the Abbey with a shroud covering her....someone shouted Allahu Akbar in the cinema before the jump scare. Best part of the movie. I lolled so hard.
It always frustrates me when people aren’t seen talking about the weird shit that just happened to them. They can cut through it, just a nod to the idea that people would actually do that makes me more invested in a movie.

The sad thing, is they had a chance to have a really interesting dynamic. The father is primed to not believe in possessions because of his previous mistake, while Valek really wants the nun woman. Having Valek exclusively fucking with the nun, and poisoning the father to make him believe its just her making things up, maybe trying to come up with an excuse not to take her vows, would be really interesting.
Yeah, they lack any prolonged reaction. Just a quick hit every now and then. I do watch these kind of movies still with the guys. Shit, one had us all taking a nap only to wake us up with the sound of a jumpscare. I believe we got jumpscared awake about four or five times in the movie. Almost like an alarm going off. We couldn't even make jokes about the move to keep us up.
When I saw the nun in theaters with my little brother, the scariest thing that happened was when I accidentally bumped the chair of the man in front of me and apologized. After the movie was over and we all stood up to leave, he stared me down like he was very angry and was considering doing something about it. I apologized again, which didn’t seem to mean much, and then his girlfriend dragged him away.
That's the movie industry for you. Some don't understand that the whole satanic aspect of the upside down cross is a relatively new and made up thing for movies because Americans and some others don't really learn about religion anymore.
The American Evangellists these movies appeal to have the kind of religious understanding that the Wahhabis do: their specific sect is literally correct and all other varieties of everything they dont immediately recognise as their own must literally be pagan or satanic, even if its from the same religion and well known and used for a length of time the extremists dont even believe is real history
@@Rynewulf it's not the evangelists that these movies appeal to. There aren't enough of them like you describe to make these movies popular. These movies appeal mostly to the "non-religious" masses.
