  • Here is my review on the Lexmoto LZR 125cc learner legal motorcycle. I had this bike for around 3 weeks and used it as my daily run around and tested it on different roads. I am honest but fair to this bike keeping in mind it only costs £2,200 brand new with a 2 year warranty. Please note I am not paid by Lexmoto to do these reviews they are happy to loan me the bike for honest feed back.

    I have a lexmoto aspire 125 which so far has been amazing. Been used for doing deliveries quite often and done 5K miles in 6 months. All round great bike and I think top speed I hit the other day was 81 which is insane for a 125. Just waiting to get my A2 license to get into the biker bikes which really looking forward to doing.

    When it comes to sound, it doesn’t sound bad even at high revs. It’s a 125 after all, they all do sound similar. Top speed you’ll be lucky to get 85mph from bigger brands. This looks good and I love that it has a 150 on the back, I had a 100 on my CBF125 back in the day. Lexmoto have changed my perspective on Chinese bikes, i may buy one of these for my C’London run a round secondhand soon, hopefully it will be a small bargain by the time. Good review.

    • @spicy110
      @spicy110  5 лет назад

      The zhongshan engines the same as the ones used in UM motorcycles and this bike, is way more rattly at the high end of the revs way more than the other engines Lexmoto use. It's not a problem in reality. But unfortunately many at the CBT age don't judge bikes buy anything more than top speed, looks and sound. So I addressed it as it was one of this things brought up in the comments of the first ride.

    I was seriously considering trading in my Adrenaline for this when I pay the finance off in the next 6 months or so. But I'm similar height/weight to spicy and its top end is about the same as my Adrenaline. I think I'll likely go for either the Rieju RS3 or the Hyosung GTR 125 from what I've heard they both reach around 80-85mph :-)

    • @DansReef
      @DansReef 5 лет назад +3

      James Brand don’t get a Hyosung or Rs3
      The Hyosung weighs as much as a small car and is also underpowered even tho it has the 11kw engine, but then killed it with being far to heavy and the rs3 is the better out the two but if I were you and I was one month ago looking to get back into riding after 12 years out coming from the 2 stroke days (Cagiva Mito) was my last bike owned and after Looking into all the bikes available now and specs and money I went with the Aprilia Rs4. Powerfull fuel injected engine that can do 70mph no worries even when it came out in 2011 it has 11kw -15bhp old money, nice size for a 125 has a wider bigger bike feel than others and cost, second hand low miles well looked after ones can be had for less than 2k
      The lxr is good but there not there yet but will be one day.

    New favourite term: "Perfectly acceptable"
    167 kg. So tail tidy first. Then remove that charcoalthing under your passengerseat. Fix the brake system, so front brake brakes both discs.
    Maybe remove those silver side parts, depending on the looks underneath it.
    If you have a little bit more money, a lithium battery.
    Now you got a bike below 160kg without too much work and costs. Good for any beginner.
    Love the windshield look btw ;)

    Hey Spicy. Im just getting into the world of motorbikes. Getting on in years I decided to finally go for my CBT. I've been looking at the LXR SE and stumbled across your review. After doing a little digging, there seems to be a lot of mixed views on this bike, from. "Don't touch it." to "It's a lovely machine for a first timer.' I'm looking to purchase this years(2024) model, and was wondeing what your current views are on it. Do they fall to bits like a handful of people claim, or is this just down to Japanese fanboys and simple neglect of regular maintenance? I'd love to hear your views on the newer models over the old as it seems Lexmoto seemed to have refined their quality and ironed out a lot of the issues that plagued the first few lines. Thanks and keep up the awesome videos, they have taught me a lot. 🤘

      @spicy110 Thanks for your reply. This was a reply I was kind of not wanting to hear as I absolutely fell in love with the look of the particular model with the half red wheel trim. I have been looking at other 125's. Namely the Yamaha yzf-r and the Honda cbr125r. I'm just worried about buying secondhand. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    • @spicy110
      @spicy110  2 месяца назад +1

      It's really tricky for sure, keeping the warranty up on the lexmoto is a cost you have to consider as you must follow the servise schedule. Secondhand can be a nightmare with 125cc bikes, so it maybe worth finding a good rateded dealer that offers warranty on used bikes, you pay a bit more but you have back up. Sorry not to be able to give you a golden nugget of info it's just a risk you need to look in to and pick a way.

    • @-Vuce
      @-Vuce 2 месяца назад

      @spicy110 I guess it's just like anything second-hand it can be a bit of a minefield, exacerbated more so with 125's by the fact that first-time riders aren't necessarily going to be looking after them beit through lack of knowledge(hence the reason I believe they should make watching your videos before the cbt test compulsory 😂) or just wanting to thrash the hell out of them. I may just bite the bullet and save save save and just go brand new, but that in itself has inherent issues, much higher insurance premiums, if I drop the bike or ditch it, which is inevitable at some point in its life. If you had to choose a good first time 125, what would you recommend? Like I said, I was looking at the Honda or Yamaha, any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Maybe a video on this is would be nice. In depth buyers guide perhaps, depending on what you intend to use it for. I'm sure many other cbt riders are in a similar dilemma. Thanks again for your replies and time.

I love the look of the bike and I don't mind the extra weight as I don't need outright speed, but I am soooo looking forward to actually riding a 125 that looks like a normal sportsbike! Perhaps I'll get a few more nods on the road! ;-) Anyway, it was through this video that I became a subscriber and I've been watching many of your riding videos to keep me sane while my new LXR is shipped over. I really appreciate your insights and random thoughts too. Keep it up! Its a shame Honda doesn't make the v twin Varadero anymore i love mine. They are still very popular bikes, Especially with taller riders and they will tour very well. And do high mileage as well as being very reliable, And the clutch is light enough to change with one finger and the gears are silky smooth, top speed around 75mph but its a big bike one of the biggest 125's looks more like a 600cc its hard for any 125 to meet all the positives of the Honda Varadero.

    Bit of a let down tbh. It's by no means poor it's just when I saw it I was hoping lexmoto might have stepped it up again is all.
    I feel it's got pointless amounts of weight onto it. You said the frame is for another engine so it's already too big. Which means the tyres have to be bigger which is also more weight...
    Then you got that stupid extra disc which isn't light either.
    They should of given an engine with a bit more juice since the bike is heavy then it wouldn't matter if they pumped the price up slightly.
    There's the hawk for a cheaper sports bike option, this could of been there more expensive but more powerful option.

    • @spicy110
      @spicy110  2 года назад

      It is a lextek exhaust, lextek is a sister company to Lexmoto. However putting a exhaust on a 125cc is going to do nothing for highway speed. It would need to be re-mapped and I do not know of a way to re map the LXR ecu. Even then you might add a couple of HP if you get lucky. The better bet is to change the gearing for more top end but you will lose acceleration for it.

    Spicy. Love your reviews. I have only one question. And it’s on all the lexmoto bikes, perhaps all Chinese bikes. The designs are nice but why is it that none has hp near the limit allowed? Why are they often 4-5 hp down on yam yzf, ktm, Aprilia or Suzuki or even some Hondas? Do you think, that they have not yet figured out how to squeeze more power out of their engines?

    • @adamgladwin8067
      @adamgladwin8067 3 года назад

      no - they just do not design their bikes for max speed - they care more about how long they last and how cheap they are to mass produce to service the huge japanese and chinese bikes. japanese 125cc bikes are more premium at the top end, but you will find bikes like Honda CB125R and Yamaha YS125 that have 13BHP and 10BHP respectively

    • @spicy110

      I don't have a specific video on it but in short.
      Regular oil changes is advisable thankfully then don't take much oil so no expensive to do. Regular chain adjustments when needed. Protection from rust can be done with a spray called acf50, this most needed in winter. Let it warm a little before riding hard will help the engine. Keeping things lubed that should be like the chain and cables. Generally keeping it clean helps.

The same exhaust it still on that bike looks good as new and no complaints at all! I have a black widow on my xj6 and again no complaints. So sorry if that doesn't help but either way they are both good.

      Depends on the budget and what you want to do with it, there is no "best". If you are looking for a bike with the max power on a CBT then some Yamaha's offer that, at a cost I will add! I do have videos on this subject in my playlist Motorcycle tips for new riders here ruclips.net/p/PL-ow7a_42PpS4RoPPNeBgQ3oEagBWT9Ey
