Not at all surprised that luminaries such as Oates, Gibbons and Beck are noticing you. So cool to see you get the recognition you deserve.
Guthrie, in my early 20’s I was a touring musician. My inner core friends had videos on MTV, top charting songs and world tours. I ended up pretty much quitting to be a dad, be there for the fam and make money to support a family. Now 50, I am an empty nester. I found your videos. You have inspired me so much. Thank you for all that you do!!
Not listening, over-playing, and playing too loud are super annoying in a jam, glad someone as good as you still has those experiences. It’s endearing.
Wow, timely encounter with Jeff Beck. Glad he was able to give GT some praise before he passed. A couple of legends recognizing a future legend.
One of the many things that set your videos above and apart from the others for me is the gorgeous CLEAN tone you tend to use, as beautifully demonstrated here. I get so tired of that same ole same ole overdrive/distortion pedal sound. Your guitar tone is a breath of fresh air. Thank you!
Every time I watch your videos I go to sleep with a headache but wake up with an epiphany!! Great stuff! I may have bought a tele because of your videos 😂
Hopefully my comment didn’t come off negatively!! I love your lessons and have learned so much! I literally bought a telecaster 5 days ago because of your channel!
Man ! That opening number was killer!! Love the way you mix Jazz, Blues and Ragtime all together into one great jam!! 👏👏👍🎸🎶
I'm trying to watch the whole video but I keep rewinding the first 2 minutes to try and steal licks! Great stuff and very inspiring!
Rest in Peace, Jeff Beck. A pioneer and artist until the very end.
Wow, Guthrie, smokin' hot jazzie blues shredding! Really appreciate these lessons! Phil
I said it before and I’ll say it again. NO one is more deserving than you in your adventure! Thank you for your WEALTH of information! 2022 breaking out of the pentatonic prison!😂❤😂
At 16:00 when you discuss the A major to A minor, the perfect song that illustrates this is the Beatles "I'll Be Back"
Yea, not walking on other players is an art in itself. The guy that taught me many years ago wasn't very good at it, but he did teach me. Great lesson.
Thanks for your help Guthrie. There are some great teachers but most of the time when I sit down to practise I’m staying with your overlapping caged/chords/arpeggios/scales ideas. I know that’s playing guitar, and making music, not just an exercise!
What strikes me most is the humbleness of Guthrie’ genius and artistry (“no extra charge for the mistakes” is priceless and became the trademark -music apart). Tip of the hat sir, or as our cousins in the nearby France say “chapeaux!”. I’m pushing 64 and getting the itch for crossing the Atlantic and getting to Nashville just to spend a night wherever you play live.
Guess Jeff and Billy found out what we all already knew. Great stuff on this channel
Guthrie- amazing story of being pulled in by Gibbons and Beck. Totally well deserved as I listen to you rip it! Keep going!!!!
This is where it's at. That's the peak right there. Brilliant.
Guthrie, you are stupendously creative and talented in case you didn't know that. I wrote you a note but thought I would re-say it here. Been playing for 58 years by ear and I can play for sure. However I was thinking and I say these words in a positive manner. I am almost 70 years old. I firmly believe that when this life is over, wherever we go all our talents and skills will be on full display like never before. Because of you I get a preview of how I will actually play when I get there by listening to you play now. Thank you for all of your hard work and what must have been countless hours of practice so that all of us pickers can hear what our full potential will one day sound like! A grateful fan.
I just got home from a jam session with friends, and your advice on the importance of listening to other musicians you're playing with, lands perfectly.
Dude - that opening jam was freakin' awesome! Please pay more jazz blues!
Dude, I'm learning SO MUCH just from transcribing the solos you play at the beginning of your videos! Thanks for the great playing and great information!
Can’t get better practice than that!
Nice! 😂 Exactly what I’m doing.
I love finding players that inspire me enough to STEAL from 😂.
Guthrie is the most multi-talented guitarist I've ever heard! Watching him wail so skillfully in different kinds of music inspires me to get better in just one!!!
Dang it man! Came here after your CAGED system video.
You are a playing fool! Love it.
Blues, Beebop, chicken pickin, I even hear some Danny Gatton in there 😂.
Well done! You inspired me to get back to the guitar.
I’ve been blown away by Matheus as have many… but honestly I prefer listening to you play. You have musicality. That’s the important aspect of playing. Not speed or fancy licks…
That opening song was amazing! 👍
Such a down to earth bloke and a great player
At 54, after noodling forever, after Shyly taking Guthrie's course at Artist-twerks (Git Down On It) I didn't even take advantage of the video talks. What an Idiot. But I'm writing songs with a friend and so 2 vocals 2 acoustic guitars, Dynamics is exactly what I'm trying to develop.
I'm still listening, Guthrie. and Thank You
Oh boy that intro … fantastic… made me smile from ear too ear …
Jeff Beck! Holy wow! Looking good, boss!
Where's the Zoot Suit? haha...man. Your chops are seriously awesome. Way to go with Jeff Beck! You're in the inner circle for sure...happy for you. Totally agree...I used to jam with some guys on a farm...and it was so loud I couldn't hear so I'd unplug and leave. Enjoy that weather!
Loved that. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 my kind of jazz
Best guitar player on earth to ME, thank you for posting content Guthrie
What an intro!!!! Blew me away (again).Awesome!!!!!!
Yeah man, your playing is MEAN AS HELL. I always learn a lot (read: shamelessly cop licks) every time I watch and I suck just a little bit less afterwards.
Yup, lightening up my picking/fretting/everything on the guitar is something I’ve been working on for a few weeks now. “Pulling the tone” is a great way to describe the approach I’ve been using and I’m definitely seeing an improvement.
SETTLE DOWN GUTHRIE
That opener was nuts man!!
Wow, what an astonishing place Nashville seems to be, hope I can make it someday. Since then looking so much forward on your gig in Berlin! You are such a great guitar player!
Thanks Guthrie for taking the time to share., what an inspiration. Hope to catch you live somewhere next time I'm in Nash.
Love me a good “jump” jam!! Rock on brother man!!
I ALWAYS get something out of your lesson GT!
There are a lot of great guitar players out there that I love and try to learn from, but your material is digestible and applicable from the get-go, and I can build on it - THANK YOU!
This advice about how you should be hitting your strings, should be one of the very first concepts taught, while your learning the CAGED or PENTATONIC. VERY EXCELLENT ADVICE> Thank you!!!!
that jam was spicy, great phrasing and ideas there Guth.
You, Eric krasno, and uncle Larry have the best dynamics of any players I've heard in awhile. It makes a big difference. Right hand is probably more important than the left and we don't always think of it that way!
I hope Santa brings me a zoom lesson. Love just to meet Guthrie.
I love swing and never heard you play this style. Of course I have seen EVERY video but a lot. Anyway wow.... You sound great on this stuff.
Guthrie you're ON FIRE BRO!😍😍😍😍
Guthrie, I was sitting a couple rows behind you at the show Tuesday, hoped I’d get a chance to say thank you for continuing to put out these videos. Wasn’t able to catch you, but thank you! Always insightful!
You slayed that opening track. Haha I love the Jeff Beck story, but not surprised they loved your playing.. that must have been a trip. Thanks for the content!
Pat Martino? Laying it down!
Billy and Beck. Respect!
You present a great advertising platform for Nashville dude, looks like a lively music town.
JOY So Happy 4 U.
Great suggestions, Guthrie, with great playing on the intro too! Jeff Beck is one of my guitar heroes.
Amazing! I love that Jeff and Billy are recognizing!!
Killer open! i'm getting a heavy coffee vibe😄
Wes Montgomery would have said "Wow!!" at that opening number. That's no lie. That did my soul some serious good, GT! Have you gone back and listened to some of those ideas? Wow!!!
great tips as always. could not be happier for you, and all the good things happening. live it up!
Great lesson as usual! Thanks so much!🤟
Man I always Bluetooth your videos in my work van through the audio and your tone is ALWAYS fantastic. Neck, bridge, doesn't matter..it's perfect. I'm a tone chaser, and I think you've got it figured out. Of course your pickin is also superb. Thanks for all the videos!
Straight 🔥as always Mr. Trapp! 🤘🏻🎸❤
Just outstanding. As usual.
Made my Saturday even better...wow, awesome playing, what a great vid!! Cheers!
That was completely awesome. Love it
What a great great intro!!!!! Amazing!
Simply mind blowing!
Thank you for making these RUclipss! Such good stuff.
Love the conversation/music parallel analogy. Never thought of it that way and it makes perfect sense!
Beautiful intro sir you are the King of making us hear the changes 🤘🤘✌🖖
Always outstanding teaching and advice from you. I always look forward your videos.
Guthrie, you are amazing! This intro is so cool!
Loving that solo Guthrie..some sweet jazz - blues in there , soo good thx u . Leigh
Hey Guthrie, could you give a short list of artists or albums that most shaped your playing? You seem to have such an encyclopedic knowledge, I'd love to listen to who shaped your style the most.
Check out Guthrie on the “No Guitar is safe” podcast by Jude Gold for answers!
Guthrie, I find everything you put out to be super valuable and useful. Thanks, man.
I love that new guitars sound!!! You’re the best bro!!!!
The tips you give are just absolutely golden. Thank you so much for sharing the knowledge. 🇬🇧
You were on fire for this intro Guthrie! I saw Uncle Larry with Ann and the Amazing Dawgs along with ZZ Top and Jeff Beck last week here in Austin. What an incredible show, but it was 100 degrees here! Thank goodness we're finally getting some cooler weather. Cheers
Guthrie, thank you so much for yet another great video, your instructions are priceless! So glad you've been able to make friends and play music with the outstanding musicians you speak of and highlight in your videos, best always to you.
That was a fun intro! On fire, GT!
Great advice, especially around music as conversation, passionately delivered with visible humility.
Guthrie can play it all. No one gets this good without hard work. Very inspiring.
Well deserved respect from your contemporaries! Congratulations!!
Great Video GT! Congrats, I bet you’ve got a million great stories👏🏻
Always great advice. Nice to see you enjoying the Life. Much respect Guthrie...
Priceless info..thanks GT!!
You've taught me more on guitar than anyone else. Really enjoying your ArtistWorks course. Thanks Guthrie keep up the great work congrats brother.
Another cool lesson. You are so incredibly fluid, what a great guitar player and a great teacher as well. I've learned more from you in the past few months than I've taught myself over the past few years. Thanks.
you get me so stoked on the guitar dude the absolute best !
That was such a great way to start my day. Thank you, Guthrie!
Guthrie , I have really enjoyed learning from your lessons. I appreciate the time you take from your schedule to spread some knowledge. Thanks and best wishes !
Fantastic intro-playing ❤
You keep surprising me with your playing. Again and again.
And a great lesson. Dynamics is so important. 😊
Keep up your great job. Thanks from 🇩🇰
Love listening to your playing, brother! Question: if you had to start over learning guitar again, what is the most important things you would work on? Hope you see this, thanks again for the tips and encouragement!
Think this will be in my top 5 list. Great playing, tone unsurpassed!
ok ok you convinced me to re-subscribe to your course on Artist work …really awesome ! 😊
Loved the intro and love to see a lesson on chromatics maybe just sticking to the one shape. Keep going brother 🤟
Another brilliant video...Been playing for 20 years but every new GT video is a game changer for me...God bless you Guthrie
great vid! Not many talented as you are as humble as you. Makes you stand out greatly amongst a sea of talented egos. Truly appreciate you sharing your talent & knowledge!
I am pleased it is all happening for you as you so deserve it. Your life sounds like something I could only dream about. Oh yeah Jeff Beck said my stuff was cool, that only happens in dreams for most of us. Well done to you and that you make time for us guitar lovers many who will only ever play in our bedrooms is beyond cool. Thanks Mr GT.
Dude - your videos and vibe..the best! Im learning so much from you! Ill be in Nashville at some point in the early spring. Hope to catch a gig!
