"The exhaust on my S1000 costs as much as this bike" 😂😂
Kettkart Profi I laughed too🤣
Still in shock at that line!
Akropovic is very pricey on big bikes
Sounds amazing though ;)
Do you think that that exhaust is overpriced then? I think it is.
I think every rider should start on a 125, or at least ride one at some point. It teaches you power management, how to make use of what little power you have, a problem you'll never encounter on a bigger bike where every gear is the right gear.
It teaches you speed management. Acquiring speed is a lot harder, you need to think ahead a lot more about an overtake or any maneuver because you can't simply accelerate out of a dangerous situation if it arises. It also teaches you to ride fast because it encourages maintaining your momentum rather than shedding it and picking it back up.
Lastly, it teaches patience. Even with the best rider the 125 will be overtaken easily by most other things on the road. It won't be able to make the same overtakes other bikes can, it won't be able to go on the highway as comfortably as other bikes can. And especially to a new rider, learning to be patient is important.
Plus they're cheaper and as fast, if not faster, in city traffic than big bikes because they can get through gaps in cars that bigger bikes can't.
I find it quite alarming here in England that people with virtually no experience can buy such powerful machines. That is probably why I see so many sportbikes being ridden so badly… they are crapping themselves every time they open the throttle. I honed my skills on dirt bikes and little bikes and i cant imagine jumping on a 200bhp monster after a CBT and a few weeks fast track licence course.
@@jpsv9531 I've been riding my whole life and can't move up from a 125 until I'm 19 and then have to wait another 2 years to be unrestricted
yeah bro its okay im forced on a 50cc (geared because scooters man they look like hairdryers im not about it) so its fine!!!! really fun bike no death involved at all especially when going out of junctions, love it its really good
i liked the old intro better luv ur vids btw
Agreed.
change is never a bad thing, its just getting used to it
Disagreed.
'Never' is an absolute term. It means you don't have a choice but to accept the change. Or you can try and make a difference. Voice your opinion. Which is exactly what the person above did. Don't succumb to the 'change' everyone forces on you. One doesn't 'need' to get used to it. (too preachy?) .... I preferred the old intro too.
Saurabh when its someone else's decision then yea everybody needs to get used to it, people don't like change... that's not RJ's fault or problem, some people feel a need for change while others wish everything could stay as it is, unfortunately the world doesn't work that way...
You must make a video about your bikes history
Ive had a msx for around a month. I thought it would be fun for occasional summer rides. I havent taken my vstrom 1000 out since.
So much fun on the commute to work and always makes me laugh. And I can park it in the cycle racks with all the pushbikes .
Absolutely love it.
as long as you stay within the city a 125 is perfect
Zé Here in UK you're not just limited to city riding on a 125, a good quality 125 will travel the length and breadth of the country with relative ease.
TheMuddatrucker It will do it, yes, but it will get boring after some months, because a 125 is relatively slow for riding outside of a city.
@@TheMuddatrucker yeah lol
Passed my mod 2 (A2 im 19) today first time!! Thank you so much for getting me into bike i know ive only do lessons but ive loved every minute of it and can't wait to get my own bike! Because of you i worked hard and saved up enough to do it all and im so thankful you inspired me to do it!
-Jimmy
James Barker congrats!!
Welcome to the family man! Ride safe!
Cheers guys!
welcome to the legal high that is motorcycle riding
Well done mate, ride defensively and be safe. Wish I went for my test when I was 19, bit of a boy racer back then lol
Nice little video RJ. I picked up a Kawasaki Z125 this last summer (Loved the styling more then the Honda) And I love the little bike. It's so much fun to ride around town, and when owning a bigger bike, you really get to appreciate both for what they are.
Love the videos RJ. You're the main reason i'm looking into getting a bike of my own, looks fun and very practical :)
I appreciate that you have a discrete audio recorder. I can literally feel the reverberation of your engines through my desk.
I just love your videos mate, I'm a paramedic in London and that spot is where I often standby in the summer. That spot by the London Apprentice is where Catherine Howard got on the barge, that took her to the Tower of London to get her head lopped off. Ride safely
I recently got in to riding motorcycle. And I guess it's thanks to your channel. I mean.. I have allways loved bikes, the sound, the looks, and the dreams that one day I will own one. Your videos and the enthusiasm encouraged me to scrap some money and buy one.
It's an old 125 2-stroke.. but I love it.. the thrill that it brings is speachless. Anyway... thanks to your videos. keep up the good work.
(I apologize for any mistakes. English is not my native language)
As always a nice video RJ!
Outstanding little Bike. I have never ridden one but would like to. Thanks for the video. Some very good points you make.
RJ..you are such a likeable, humble man. You ride a bike like that often because it is sensible.
I imagine RJ as a Goldsmith or Jeweller, with his shop being in the centre of the city. BTW an awesome video as always! Liked the way you were stopping at different spots and speaking, better than long speeches at a stand still!
Agree with you. Love for all the bikes
i ride a 125 suzuky tux, and for the same reason, now i feel confident now to get a biger bike. thank you for your videos from france
i think its more to do with the fact that learners have L plates that drivers dont give much respect, not necessarily that the bike has less presence
Nailed it. The other day, on my 125 I was doing 40 through a 40 zone and I was overtaken...really? would they have done that to a 'big boy' bike? :') Or to another car? Doubt it.
I think I'm gonna pick up a Grom in couple of weeks. They look so much fun, and it'll stop me wracking up so many miles on my main bike. I love the fact they are so cheap to customize too.Love your videos.
Love the fact of simplicity and honesty when a rider used to big bikes is able to recognize all the good things and joy when riding small 125.
It is inspiring for new or beginner riders, not giving the same old attitude of " I only ride real bikes "
R.I.P.\m/ Ride in peace
Well said RJ. I've have larger motorcycles but the Grom is just an awesome bike it's the general purpose city bike.
Plus it just makes me happy and smile.
I bought this bike because of you and I love it so much, hope to see you on yours some day 😁👊🏾
i do ride a Velo Solex which i got from my father who recently died. it isn`t really a bike but it`s always about that feelin`....you know that little thing that keeps you on the road not peddalling...just turning your right hand and enjoying the ride......
by the way....thanks to u having such a perfect sound on the nuda.I LOVE this bike....The way it looks an the way u made it sound like...THANK U
It does make sense riding the grom in traffic at times. Love the new intro. RSM8
Very true about the need to concentrate, and the different skills required on a 125. I loved the year I spent on one, even though it wasn't anywhere near as good as the Grom (a Kymco) - I did spend the whole year grateful to be riding though :)
I love 125cc Motorcycles ,
They are the good girls of Motorcycling.
Great video RoyalJordanian :)
Love my Grom, low cost, fun, fits everywhere, easy to mod and you dont cry when you drop it.
Im getting a 2nd bike soon but it will be only for commuting. The Grom does a lot and in down town Montréal it's magical.
Looking at the new Honda Rebel 300, dont need much to be happy 😊
It's cute, I have a blue one and love it.
Totally agree with RJ. On a small bike you wring out every last bhp and it's FUN. You can only do that at a track day on a big bike. I've got a 1200 Italian v-twin and a Kawasaki 250 single. Both are great in their different ways.
The Grom reminds me of a modern day version of the '80-'90 Honda ZB50 49cc, but at another league. Love it!
The new intro is really cool!
I don't actually own or ride a bike, but as a car driver what you like and how you conduct yourself are very similar to me on the road and I enjoy just listening to your opinions on day to day driver situations.
I bought my first bike last autumn. It's the CB125F with the same engine as the Grom, same controls, just bigger frame and fuel tank, bigger (but skinnier I think?) wheels.
Although I'm moving on to bigger bikes, I just can't see myself ever getting rid of my 125. I find riding in London is horrible, but I can still have fun on my 125 even with the 20mph roads. I had the same thinking as you about theft, where nobody is going to want to steal it, especially with the cracks and scrapes I've put on it already 😂. It's so economical, I did over a 200 mile round trip and still averaged over 100mpg even with hours of 70mph roads, which the bike can only realistically get 55-65mph on even though the dash will say 71 sometimes.
It turns a short shopping trip into a bit of fun. And ultimately it's been a fantastic tool for learning skills, and continuing to develop them.
i love my msx , it's the best 125cc for ride in city ! hi from france RJ
wat a cool guy you are rg and realy genuine
Thanks for sharing I enjoyed this very much.
I like the new intro man!
for thé fun ans this Honda is great .thank You RJ
Great new intro RJ ;)
RJ, u are 110% correct.
Cheers.
yet, so many don't get it....
I had a 125 in London too. My GPZ900R would wheel spin everywhere on the greasy roads and I eventually came off on a patch of diesel so I parked that up for rides out of the city. The 125 was perfect around town as you rarely need to go more than 40mph and it was so economical on fuel.
I loved my 125, but I did find when I had L plates on, other road users took more liberties. As soon as I removed them (upon passing my test) I was shown (slightly) more consideration. I concede when I had the L plates I was indeed v much a learner, so confidence & road attitude would most likely have been key factors.
Would be interesting to see if you'd experience any difference in others attitudes towards you if you affixed L plates to the Grom for a day or two....If you haven't already tried it in a previous video that is.
Lastly, I'd have another 125 in a heartbeat. Loved my Yammy xt125x! :)
- B
love the new intro :)
i also have a 125 next to my bigger bike, it just makes me happy, its like riding a moped for a change, i always love it that you can trash it to the redline without breaking the speed limit XD
love your videos
love the new intro
This was a good video mate i enjoyed it :)
I have a grom and you can go a LONG way with the fuel light flashing. I have got exactly 5.5 litres in the tank at £6.98 :)
great videos very entertaining better than TV bro
OMG.. I miss my old Grom/MSX!! I now have the new Honda NC750X.. but the Grom/MSX it's just so fun to ride..
I love this bike!
People who don't like the msx never road one. Fabulous bike. I starded on a Duke 125, now i have a 390 duke and thinking about the 1290 but maybe this bike has way to much power...like 170hp more than the msx ahah.
Love your vids rj, they always bring joy to my day. :)
I got one!!! Absolutely enjoyable!!!
i usually use a 410 Himalayan for longer rides, but to go to townor work, my 1981 Honda CM125T serves me plenty :)
I was so unhappy that an A2 and Yamaha MT07 were too expensive but I bought an MSX and this video makes me love it even more!
Makes good sense. I ride an S1000RR and have been similarly thinking of picking up a more modest, utilitarian and generic second bike like maybe a Versys 650 for those rides when I don't want or need to take my premium bike. I'm not knocking the Versys, but it wouldn't hurt as bad if it was stolen, and it would help keep the "less fun" miles off the RR which are racking up. Or maybe the less expensive but still spirited 2017 FZ-09/MT09 for the second bike.
Beautiful video, i ride a 125 but yes, it looks like a normal bike because it is a motard... thanks to you i'm falling in love with the grom 😂👍
A question: what's your job??
new intro is awesome btw
Practicality. nice vid sir.
I have a full licence and just got a 125 as my first bike, they are excellent commuters, cheap to run and still plenty of fun
Because 125 are cool and we can have lots of fun with them.
speed Safe RJ thumbs up
what a great bike you have there ! :)
I felt the same while i was recently riding a grom around, this one even had big L plates on it, but like you say - if you ride in the same confident manner that you usually would and dominate your area of the road then you probably won't notice any difference.
I know what you mean. I have a Kawasaki ZRX 1100 and a Piaggio Fly 150 scooter. Sometimes the scooter is just way more fun on city street and it does make you aware o your surroundings a lot more.
Some ppl don't realise how fun a 125cc can be, infact most bikers haven't ridden a small cc bike since they were young and dumb. hats off RJ & Ride safe(as always) lol
u r an inspiration....
You're lucky your younger to do as you can. God Bless
I'm interested in your thoughts about staying safe. You mentioned TED, which seems intuitive enough. It could be a good subject for a few videos... though I admit I haven't watched all 180 episodes or other vlogs. BTW, if you come to the US the green handled gas pumps are diesel.
I use a 125cc to commute. It feels great. I hope to upgrade.
When you mentioned your security measures towards the bikes you own, I was curious to know what they are! I use a disc brake and sometimes chain it to a lamp post or something
love your videos :)
I want one!!!! They're just adorable.
the more bikes makes for a happier life I say ...lol....I have two
Gloomy day in London? That's a summers day in Glasgow 😂😂
Good vid there
Hi RJ, I'd be really interested in you doing a feature on bike trackers, particularly with motorcycle thefts on the rise. I wonder whether a company would support you in doing this. Keep up the good work. All the best, J
I believe motorcycle security is a personal thing and no one should reveal what they use on social media.
RJ I have been watching your videos and you are a amazing rider. My question is how long have you been riding for? Thanks :P
ahh thank you my friend :)
You're right about the 125 improving your road sense IMO. After 6 years of riding/racing bicycles I found passing my motorcycle test with no minors was totally natural - easy even. You get exposed to danger ALL the time on a bicycle particularly in the city.
No comments about bad cyclists please, I'm not one of them 👍
yea.
when i made my motorbike licence (26yrs old, directly unrestricted, learning on a z650) just a few weeks after i did my car licence, my driving intructor said "well well, someone here shows alot more promise on a bike than in a car. and you already have been driving pretty well." pretty much because of all the time i've spent on my mountainbikes in and out of town.
so after the first day on the obstacle course we straight up went for live-practice in traffic after which he immediately signed me up for the test.
Awesome intro
Grom: Small is beautiful. Sat on one at the 'bike show and was surprised how comfortable it was.
I think the perception is the L plate causes less patient driving, not being on a smaller motorcycle. But, interesting video and points well made. Cheers
awesome intro. first time i saw it
I really fancy a Grom. Smashing little bike. :)
Hi RJ, what security measures do you take when locking up your bike in public? Love the videos!
Ed van Andel Ah thanks mate.
i Will appreciate if you do a video in a Royal Enfield ( continental GT) and talk about the bike and how it feels
i used to get 100 mpg oout of my old honda CG 125, loved my 1978 Yamaha DT 125 mmore though 2 stroke ftw:)
Although I got a Honda CB500 (48HP limit with A2 license here in Germany), I prefer the XT 350 with 27HP for Town.
Even my 50cc Simson S51, which is allowed to drive 60km/h, is better for town. It's just fun to take these light bikes through the corners and the 50cc kind of saves you from breaking the law with it's limited power. Driving 50-60km/h with the 50cc is much as fun as driving 70-80km/h with the XT...
Greetings from Germany
Syon Park. Nice place 👍
"thats our life in winter" its been our life all fucking year tbh
You do have many choices with a Full A license; I do envy that because I passed all the same sort tests and only got an A1 license due to my age... Which is really useless, tried to take a pillion and it just felt lack of power... Guss I will need to wait until my this year's birthday and redo the two tests and upgrade my A1 to A2 so that I can have more choices... The other thing is, after watching all your ovservations... I felt like I can never ride in London, cars and people on road just look crazy...
Whatever people want to say about this bike, it sure sounds fantastic!
What area are you riding in? It looks lovely!
I believe there is a lot of value in the theory that his bike makes you ride more thoughtfully. I certainly feel in on my Ninja 250 vs my SV. Every time I get back on the Ninja, I just feel the bike is willing to teach me control instead of encouraging me to crank the throttle.
Always wanted a 125 Grom. Not because of the hype that some motovloggers made of it, but of the pure joy of riding one.
I switched from a v-star 650 to a grom ,last february, and I absolutely love it much more. Everything RJ said is accurate from my perspective.
Im interested in doing my CBT in the next few years, money allowing. Im 19 currently, but want to start on a 125. Im tempted by a Grom. They seem good fun, fairly simple, reliable and small enough for me (im around 5 and a half foot, short i know haha). Anyone in the comments recommened a good 125 to start out on (my budget in around 2 years when i hope to start riding will probably be around £3500 at most (inc. insurance). Happy to buy 2nd hand
What a legend
There in London Honda sell Grom, here in Brazil we have Pop 100 (Google it, Grom has much more tecnology, safety and beauty), they are the same bikes but made for different markets, strategies, prices and etc....
The green fuel nozzle is diesel here in the US. As he was filling i was like "NOOOOOOO!", then i read the pump. Guarantee I would flub that one up if I wasn't on my toes and fueling up overseas.
@RJ I saw pics of a retro-styled grom prototype from Honda, what are your thoughts on it? I love the Grom too - merry xmas!
