It's amazing how far game design had come. But bites the PS4 had to sacrifice presentation, vs frame rate. Knowing the PS5 is capable, tapping into that energy the series contained in the past. Yeah, fingers crossed Microsoft is working on those 60 fps updates... cuz last i heard, Ubisoft and Rocksteady aren't working on any official updates for their older gamers. Tho also, i could see Ubisoft "remastering" AC unity, rogue & black flag flag to sell again. Tho given how AC 3 "remaster" turned out, all i could hope for is a higher resolution mark and not much else.
Ratchet and clank 2002, my favorite game. Remember playing it all the time as a kid and my little brother always used to remove my saves so I had to replay the whole game everytime lmao.
Insomniac was a game developer I've greatly underestimated for the longest time mainly due to the fact that their IPs never really took a shine on me for the most part, until I played Spider-Man on the PS4. They really made the most out of a seemingly old hardware in terms of performance and created a game that's far beyond generations of technological advancement. And when I finally got to play the remastered version of the same game on PS5 boy... I was dumbfounded. Forget CDPR or Ubisoft or even Rockstar. Insomniac is arguably the best developer out there when it came to game optimization. It's sad that most PC games hardly get to this level of performance and stability without resorting to overblown FPS count just to maintain a locked-in 60fps gaming. I have a respectable 1440p rig myself and I honestly can't tell the difference, but the PS5 is managing it with less power and graphical capability. Now I can hardly wait for Rachet and Clank Rift Apart!
The only thing holding back R&C(2016) is the original because of how great that game was. From the voice actor, to the environment, and the gameplay it was all great.
@@rabbitenjoyer6320 I like the original better too, but then you remember what came after R&C 1 right? HI. Thanks for a great video. Cutscenes at 30fps is brilliant, because it maintains dramatic effect, like a movie at 24fps. Gameplay at 60 is the only change needed.
Go back to a 30fps and your eyes will be reminded... The brain gets used to frames, the human eye is capable of seeing 1000 frames per second, but it all comes down also to the individual... Many say 120hz, others 144hz, other are able to detect 240hz and even 300hz (that's why there are monitors at those hz)... But a good way to tell the difference is going back to lower frames, it only takes a couple of seconds and your brain will hate it 😅
@@ADRzone You got that right, I recently purchased a gaming laptop and been playing games at 144hz like gta went back to the ps4 version I got dizzy looking at it.
Most of the remasters from ps2 to ps3 didn't received higher textures as mentioned in the video. They just boosted up the overall resolution, not to be mistaken. The ps4 title was a REMAKE, which indeed was a rework of game assets.
Insomniac in 2009; "No more 60fps, since we think nobody wants it and it gets in the way of graphics" Insomniac in 2022; "Hey guys here's your free 60fps patch since higher framerates make a game more enjoyable"
It's complicated. Sony owns the Bloodborne IP, that means it’s Sony's decision to make a sequel or prequel... With that said, the game was developed by From Software using their proprietary engine, built entirely inside their studio and that means only From Software has access to Bloodborne’s source code and since From Software is independent, they are not obligated to follow Sony's agenda. Since Sony doesn't seem interested in creating something like Xbox's FPS Boost which can upgrade a game's frame-rate without acess to it's source code, Sony would need From Software's cooperation in this but right now, From 110% focused on Elden Ring. A very expensive option, if waiting for From Software to do it is not feasible, would be Sony taking the road towards a complete remaster of Bloodborne using another engine, therefore doing things their own way. A couple of years ago, Hidetaka Miyazaki the genius behind the Soulsborne games, said in an interview that he would love to do anything related to Bloodborne, a prequel, spiritual successor or even a full blown sequel. But since Sony owns the IP and From Software was never contacted by Sony regarding Bloodborne after the release of Bloodborne's Game of the Year Edition... He has given up on his dreams.
It won’t happen coz Bloodborne and the last guardian were basically Japan Studio IPs. With Japan Studio dissolved no ones gonna going to do anything to the games. The best you can hope for is a Bloodborne remake by Blupoint but that won’t be till PS6 launch at best coz it’s still quite modern to remake
@@8BitRetroMonkey You overestimate the importance of Sony’s Japan Studio, the studio getting closed won't stop anything, all they was speeding up stuff for From Software with the development of Bloodborne because at the time they had more experience with the system and knew how to take full advantage of it. The engine of Bloodborne is the same that From Software used for Dark Souls 3, pretty much 99% of the game was built inside From Software's studio... The engine, graphics, art direction, soundtrack, programming, writing, animation. SIE Japan Studio was merely outsourced. Sony itself owns the BB IP and like I said, since Sony isn't interested in creating something like Xbox's FPS boost which bypasses any kind of restrictions in this matter... They would indeed need the game's source code to unlock the frame-rate, the game was built on From's proprietary engine and that means they are the only ones with access to it and right now From is too busy with Elden Ring to waste any time going through and the source code and patching Bloodborne for Sony.

“In no way influences purchases...” I disagree, even with this game being free, I booted it up for the first time, saw 30fps and instantly deleted it. Now, with it being 60fps I’m very interested in playing through this game.
Dude...I was a huge R&C fan growing up and I was so excited to buy the PS4 game. EVERY SINGLE R&C game was 60fps so I obviously assumed that the new game on the new PS4 would be 60? OUCH. Played about 30 mins and couldn't take the 30fps. I don't understand why FPS is separate from graphics. It is a part of the visuals and makes an insane amount of difference.
60 FPS is vital. I play on a 65 inch TCL 4K screen, and the motion is so much more clear with 60 FPS. 30 looks muddy, and I’m not a fan of black frame insertion, at least in games with significant motion blur.
Yes, because during PS3 and PS4 development the studios pushed for photo realism and threw more effects in than the consoles could handle. It's not the hardwares fault.
Started my playthrough right after I saw this update was released early. Never played the game, but had always heard good things. What a great change of pace from playing God of War and Days Gone.
No, you're not. I can confirm (being still on PS4) the difference before and after the update. And I'm not a fan of it, it makes the 30 fps cap more apparent! But fortunately I've seen what all the game had to offer

While I really like this game, I still really wish they would've kept Ratchet's original personality instead of just turning him into a generic, happy go lucky Disney character, lmao.
Honestly I'd much rather play in 60 fps than have super 4k detail. If the game has good art direction, a graphical compromise in favor of better framerate absolutely will not hurt the art to any notable degree. I'm happy that the next Ratchet game will offer us the option of either 30 fps 4k with ray tracing or the same but with 60 fps and without ray tracing. Spiderman even has a 60 fps with ray-tracing option if you can settle for 1080p. If you ask me, this choice is what makes ps5 next gen
@@undisclosedsteve6361 A PS5 specific upgrade to the game. Using machine learning for realistic muscle deformation on Miles's character model. There are video on youtube showcasing it.
Insomniac has been making clever compromises to ensure better visual quality for a long time. I read an interview back around the launch of PS3 where they explained their reasoning for staying at 720p instead of 1080p. They said they would rather use the extra GPU power for better lighting and texturing techniques instead of simply rendering twice as many pixels at lower detail levels. Considering the state of TVs in 2007, with many still on 720p TVs, I think they made the right call.
It's definitely holding up, the cartoon / cg aesthetic ages better than pure realism. the people talkin' bout pc's are missing the point, yes it's awesome that we can scale and mod many pc releases but that only goes so far in combating the visual age process.

It's amazing how far game design had come. But bites the PS4 had to sacrifice presentation, vs frame rate. Knowing the PS5 is capable, tapping into that energy the series contained in the past.

insomniac, the masters of 60fps.
R&C 2002's story beats and tension between the titular characters make 2016's feel like a victim of focus groups
@@rabbitenjoyer6320
I like the original better too, but then you remember what came after R&C 1 right? Yeah... going Commando had a hilarious name and started on a gameplay front very solidly but from the story perspective... not so much. It almost felt a bit like Insomniac was trying to kill the franchise. The opening to R&C 2 was just a bit over the top goofy.
I'm excited to see where the reboot takes Ratchet, Clank and the rest of the gang in Rift Apart.

Been playing so many 60fps games that I don’t even notice it anymore.

Unfortunately, that won’t happen anytime soon! ☹️
@@darrellgarrett72 source?
