Nicole & Vee-Stewed Oxtail Cheeseburger
Step 1: Stew the oxtails
Ingredients
* 1.5 lb oxtails
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 1 teaspoon black pepper
* 3 tablespoons brown sugar
* 1 teaspoon ground allspice
* 1 bunch fresh thyme
* 1 knob fresh ginger
* 1 tablespoon browning
* 2 dashes maggi seasoning
* 2 tomatoes, chopped
* 1 whole bulb garlic
* 1 white onion, roughly chopped
* 1 bunch green onions, roughly chopped
* 1 cup water
1) Season the oxtails.
2S) ear in a large pot.
3) Add all the aromatics.
4) Top with water. Cook low and slow for a few hours.
5) Remove the bones.
6) Chop up and reserve.
Equipment
* Pot
* Tongs
* Knife
* Cutting Board
Step 2: Assemble the burger
Ingredients
* 1 lb 80/20 beef
* Smoked gouda cheese
* Toasted brioche bun
* ½ cup mayo
* Juice of 1 lime
* Scotch bonnet powder
* Salt
* Pepper
1) Add 2 burger patties to the cast iron skillet.
2) Season with salt and pepper.
3) Add the cheese to the burger.
4) Make sauce by adding mayo, lime, pepper powder, and salt.
5) Assemble burger by placing sauce, burger patties with cheese, shredded oxtail, and pickled red onions on the toasted brioche bun.
Equipment
* Cast Iron skillet
* Metal spatula
* Mini whisk
* Mini spoon
Josh and Trevor (Team Wicked Smaht) - Tony Chachere’s Wet Dream Burger
Step 1: Make the Beignet Buns and Cook the Shrimp
Ingredients
* 1 lb peeled and deveined shrimp
* 2 tsp Tony C’s
* ½ cup butter
* 1 tbsp chopped parsley
* 2 cloves minced garlic
* ½ lemon
* Salt
* Pepper
1) Trevor will form the beignet buns from the pre risen dough and fry them off.
2) Josh will melt butter in a medium saucepan and add spices and garlic to it. He will then cook the shrimp in the cajun garlic butter for about 4-5 minutes until opaque.
Equipment
* Deep fryer at 350
* Medium saucepan (the wide one with the high walls)
* Wooden spoon that josh likes
* Spider
Step 2: Cook the patties and assemble
Ingredients
* 1lb 70/30 ground beef
* 1lb lean ground pork
* 3 tsp Garlic powder
* 2 tsp paprika
* 1 tsp cayenne pepper
* ½ tsp dried thyme
* ½ tsp ground sage
* Liquid Smoke
* Salt
* Pepper
* Oil
* White American Cheese
1) Mix Pork and Beef with spices and liquid smoke. Form into patties and smash into hot cast iron. Top with white american cheese. Add patties to buns with shrimp, pickled slaw, and remoulade. EAT. DESTROY NICOLE AND VEE IN THE ULTIMATE BURGER BATTLE.

And in the face of that, she acted objectively. Shrimp might be great on a burger but it does not belong there. The slight at Link for being a picky eater was so genuine and rang so true for the audience who cannot understand his taste buds.
Josh is just weird and the Mythical Crew embraces it full heartedly. 😂 Link knew what he was getting into. Lol and I'm sure Lily did as well.
If they made merch that was a drawing of trevor and josh in their back-to-back stance with "wicked smart" written I'd totally buy that!

That oxtail burger does look good! But it'd be nice to see multiple judges, each with their own vote, without knowing which team made which dish.
Agreed. Just so the audience can be sure bias is entirely eliminated, and you get a good range of opinions from people who like different things. Because as pointed out, she liked the other more so due to the oxtail and it having the stewing beef like quality. But what if someone loves shrimp?
@@SilvyReactsdoesn't really do much for parity, one of the only things that really makes cooking competitions fairer is when certain ingredients are required, so even if someone doesn't like that ingredient it's more about how it's cooked or prepared than whether it's present or not
I'm actually done watching these "competitions" until it's like a blind taste... Sorry but In previous videos most of Nicole's food is off the box into a new serving vessel... Of course it will taste good... It's someone else's recipe in a pot pie..

Tony Cs is the best, just don't add salt and Tony Cs because it's like 70 percent salt and your stoned ass will get dehydrated... speak from experience

I sure as content creator link probably wouldn’t want his daughter as long term host, but I can definitely see him being happy for her to return from time to time.
Josh and Trevor evoke the 80's body builder. You can totally see them saying things like "If you don't have 500 grams of protein in your burgers you're eating a salad"
Instead they hit us with things like "Some might refer to it as a 'Camel tail'". And I'm all for it.
Tony Chachere had his recipe for creole seasoning in his cookbook. He also explained how to adjust the recipe for different proteins.
Tony Chachere's all-purpose creole seasoning recipe:
- 26oz Box Morton kosher salt
- 1 1/2 oz Ground black pepper
- 2 oz Ground red pepper
- 1 oz Garlic powder
- 1 oz Chili Powered
- 1 oz MSG
- 1 tsp Cornstarch (optional anti-caking agent)
for seafood, use half the amounts above, then add:
- 1 tsp Ground thyme
- 1 tsp Finely crushed bay leaf
- 1 tsp Sweet dry basil

Thanks. I'd probably prefer to make it in smaller batches so the pepper can be freshly ground, or just not include it at all. Fresh black pepper is eons beyond the stuff from a metal tin. But if you grind it in advance it loses most of its special properties.
Also the seafood version looks a lot closer to Slap Ya Mama
@@kaldo_kaldo Fresh black pepper is better for sure. However, if your goal is to recreate what you buy at the store, pre-ground is the way to go.
I've used fresh ground black pepper and it can be a little too strong for some dishes. The less potent pepper is kind of a feature, not a bug.

The best burger I ever had was at a kebab shop in Southampton (UK). it had 2 quarter pounders, cheese, bacon, doner meat and a fried egg.
They've closed down now, and I've never been able to find a burger like it since.

Pro tip; if you've got something crumbly like oxtail going onto a patty, put it on first, followed by the cheese. The cheese will hold it all down onto the patty.

Only thing I could recommend is instead of just switching order in which the food gets tasted, let the girls cook first. Both looked amazing and Im taking nothing away from the girls but theyve gotten to see what the guys do both times and have been able to plan accordingly. Switch it up and see if the guys cant pull one through
My guess is it is just edited this way. Having the Ox tail stew for hours had to be done earlier.
My guess is they cook in sync and just edit it to whatever order. They definitely don't want food waiting after cooked or it won't taste as good. They definitely have some basic script they are speaking from too.

IDK, I feel like there's something to be said about keeping it simple. Sometimes, a cheeseburger w/your fav sauces is just perfect.
But sometimes too many ingredients can make it over complicated and fall apart completely, there is a limit
I disagree. I don't mind interesting ingredients on a burger an sometimes that's exactly what I want, but I don't want more than a handful. I love a good classic deluxe (mayo ketchup lettuce tomato onion cheese) or a slider like white castle style. Sometimes I eat a plain cheeseburger. Just a burger and cheese with salt and pepper on bread, and it's amazing. Good quality beef, good cheese, it's amazing and pure.
No joke, if you like a tiny bit of spice. Try Tony C's. You don't need additional salt. It tastes really good. I wish I would have known about Tony C's earlier. It is a great seasoning, the only thing I find better is Italian Seasoning mix.
Also, while V seems awkward on camera, I do love her as a camera personality. And holy crap I love Lily as a judge. She really knows what she likes and doesn't play around.
For video, smash burgers are my least favorite. They just add random crisp that doesn't feel natural. Though, your "smash" burgers just look normal.
