Cool that they basically remade the old one so the price can come down for cosplayers and kids, but it’s a real shame it doesn’t fit sleeved cards and the field spell thing being missing is a HUGE bummer. Would love to see a full size gx/5ds duel disk so you can keep an extra deck too.

They made some high quality 5D’s duel disks in Japan. Not like a Proplica one but a normal toy one. It has more weight to it than this one, and it has a compartment for extra deck, and you can use sleeves. I think I got mine (without the bundled cards) for $50-60 secondhand. It’s really nice and it makes the one in the video look like junk.
Also, they made an Osiris/Slifer Red GX Duel disk that is similar to the American GX disk.
I bet these are expensive, ain't they?

Watching this makes me think: There has to be a practical Duel Disk for serious Yu-Gi-Oh players. Takes sleeved cards, making it easy to see your spell and trap cards, maybe even have a place for the graveyard and banished piles. Something practical so you can play pretty much anywhere. You wouldn't have to worry about bringing a playmat, or needing a table, or even the wind blowing away cards
Closest you'll get is the GX Duel Disk for allowing sleeved cards and having anime accurate backrow slots. Or if you're still content playing your cards on a table but want your deck on your wrist, the blade on the Yusei Duel Disk is detachable, allowing you to Duel with the main "disk" like it's Arc-V, but with a table.
And an extra deck zone as well, you know, for your Fusion, Syncro, and XYZ monsters.

😂 The funny part about all of this is the fact we’re all adults now and we’re still interested I their toys! I’m totally gonna buy one and just keep it sealed. That’s gonna be cool to have in my collection.

The concept is not childish at all afterall, it's just a toy version of something that is adult and cool.
I feel like people that would want these are mostly cosplayers, and the "not fitting a big arm" thing is actually a big deal. When you cosplay you can avoid sleeving cards, but you still need the thing to fit your arm. I think you could take it apart into pieces and modify or outright change the part that doesn not fit the sleeved cards
There's one that just recently released (that I have a review of on my channel) that actually holds sleeves cards AND you can comfortably put your arm in

The new one is definitely cheaply made compared to the old one. And probably cost more at the time of release.
And doesnt fit sleeved Cards
The original was $30. This version is missing the spring clip to hold the cards in the deck slot, has a smaller Graveyard that can only hold about 10 cards, has a flatter cover panel to go over the Graveyard, and has a loose clip on the front of the deck slot so it can't even be used to hold your cards in more securely. It's very obviously meant to be a display piece/conversations starter rather than a functional toy/prop. And it cost over $100.
Losing the field spell zone is a shame, and the lack of space for sleeved cards is a shame. I always wanted a dual disk
The Field Spell Zone is there, it folds out from the edge of the far right part of the blade.
There's one that just released that I have a review of that does actually hold sleeved cards, sadly no field zone still
i prefer the proplica version. Yeah it doesnt have a standby mode but it makes up for it by being able to hold sleeved decks, has sound effects, music and dialogue, has a digital life counter, lights up and even comes with proxies so you dont have to use your own cards

I remember being so disappointed as a kid when I got mine. I was big for a 12-13 year old, so when I put mine on it started to cut off my circulation and holding the thing up for any length of time was really uncomfortable. As well as all of the aforementioned issues with damaging cards and all that…
I still like the japanese one that was made like a few years ago that had sound effects and played music and stuff.
Honestly, I hope they remake the GX duel disk. That one can fit sleeved cards no problem.
I'm disappointed in it not having a field zone or clipping closer to the 2 sides when closed like it did in the anime...But great for cosplay~
Have you guys tried the PROPLICA version released a while back? It's a more premium product w/ lights, sounds, music, and allows for sleeved cards if I remember correctly.
The monster zones lights up when you place a card as well.
How much tho?

I would’ve preordered one but it was either $200 or $300 on release. If I were going to get a Proplica item for that price I would instead get the Kingdom Hearts Kingdom Key where it lights up different colors depending on what spell you cast and projects a keyhole on walls.
I picked one up on pre-order. Theoretically you could use it but it's too heavy and will just flop down under its own weight.
It comes with a clear handle but you can't really hold your cards while you're trying to keep the disk from falling upside down on your arm

imagine the next five years at the 30th i want them to make one for the 30th and it can hold sleeved cards. in the deck zone,the monster zones,the spell/trap zone,the graveyard and they give back the field spell zone but they add the extra monster card zone. but sooner or later i want to actually see the monsters for real like they do in the show.
For the First Anniversary question, it starts the year after it’s release.
If it was before that, it would still be the 0th anniversary (which doesn’t exist).
This gives me hope for tcg 25th anniversary they might release us some. I know Yugi boomers myself included would jump to grab the old duel disks at this point

There's one that just released that I have a review of that does actually hold sleeved cards and has a decent size for your arm to go in
That weird plastic arm guard thing totally snapped and broke on me when I put it on.
It said they couldn’t update these duel disks to format master rule 5 and give extra monster zone slots that slide out and give these dueldisks clear cover windows for the bottom part so u can see and show ur spells and traps and pendulum for showing the text and see the pendulum scales so you don’t continuously have to rip your cards out of the slots to read the effects!
This channel is very wholesome. Just a couple of nerds who love yugioh, but are not obsessive. Self aware but not annoying. I love it
Seeing these Duel Disks and the fact they change forms made me imagine a YuGiOh Super Sentai/Power Rangers show. The DDs are the morphers which are activated upon inserting the deck.
The original gang already have designated colours.
Yugi - Blue
Joey - Green
Tristan - Black
Tea - Pink
Bakura - White but turns evil early on, thus leaving the team.
Duke - Red but DOES NOT become leader as most Red Rangers are
Kaiba - Takes Bakura's White form but with the spiffy Battle City coat to show he's cooler
Mokuba - Yellow but only a one-off cos he's the kid sidekick
so basically as far as the duel disks they actually
put out the GX duel disk is still the best.
The Yusei duel disk fits sleeved cards. I own the original yusei and the yusei DX duel disk.
It's a shame that they didn't make it so that you could use sleeves. The proplica one released a few years ago was nice because they had the idea of "hey, lets make it so you can use sleeves," but then when you try and put a sleeved deck in it the mechanics that hold the deck in place could damage the cards anyway.
That’s really dumb because the 5D’s duel disk that is only 1/4 the price of the Proplica disk could hold sleeved cards and it wouldn’t damage anything. :/
I hope they do a GX version that was my favorite duel disk to date.

I am a bit late to this. But I remember the GX academy duel disk used to fit up to 50 sleeved cards. I still have my one despite how battered it is. Still one of my favourite Duel Disk Designs.

Just as I thought: They made no improvements to the original Battle City Duel Disk. You're better off attempting to obtain the Proplica Battle City Duel Disk. Don't waste money on this quick cash grab.
I really want this BUT remade with stuff from the sturdy plastic, comfort functionality, and electronic capabilities of the Japanese rush duel disk.
I had one of those original Duel Disks when I was a kid. The thing with mine was that something inside it must have broken, because when it would go from standby to active, only the small part would be able to move. They wouldn't meet in the middle and set in the active mode, and instead the small part would just swing around all the way to fit. I actually thought it was cool, because it was like mine worked a little differently. Man, I wish I still had that thing. If they're going to be re-releasing these things, they really needed to add some kind of a handle to grip, and a way to use it with card sleeves. Even back when I was a kid, I was upset that sleeves didn't fit. How have they not learned this, looking at their player base now?
I don't think it's worth it. It still doesn't fit sleeved cards correctly, and they removed the field center option. Here we are 15-16 years after the release of the original version, and Konami or Mattel haven't made any effort to properly update it with more modern technology/mechanics.

Duel gazers would seem more plausible than duel disks irl nowadays.
I was like 12 when the original came out and my arm was too thick for it and now I’m in my 30s so it definitely is now. I know it would never happen because no company would sink that kind of money into it, but I would love to see a play mat that would actually project cards without the need for VR because it gives me migraines.

Damn. So no Field Slot,the Graveyard is still piddlingly small and there is no Extra Deck or Banished Zone Slot. Yeah. This new release is not really worth the price tag.

Years ago I had the original Duel Disk and yeah it ruined some of my cards, now I have the Proplica Duel Disk for a better dueling experience, when real hologram DDs arrive it will be every duelist's dream make true

I wish Konami would just make a duel duck that's actually functional and can hold sleeved cards without them falling out when you tilt the duel disk is any direction.
PS, 1 of the main reasons I didn't like the OG duel disk is because the spell and trap zones were poorly placed and the cards kept falling out.

I think the deck slot issue could have been a simple fix- have the little protrusion with the red arrow over the deck slot clamp down lightly with a small roller on the edge, to hold the deck in place and make it easy to pull the top card out, with a locking mechanism that holds the piece in place when you pull up on it for loading/unloading the whole deck. Then they could just make the deck slot a bit wider and tall enough to fit 60 sleeved cards, and the clamping piece just rolls down as you draw from your deck.

Love the og duel disks! Still have my original, but the Japanese 5d duel disks are where it’s at! There’s 2 versions, one has kinda the same layout as the og ones where the back of the spell and trap are exposed so you can check them and it doesn’t have a deck catcher thingy to hold your deck in place so if you do a dramatic pose your cards just spill out.. the second one is pretty much the same but it’s got a cover for the spell and traps so your opponent I guess can’t see them, it’s got a deck catcher thingy and TA DA! It’s got an extra deck holder and I can only guess a holder for out of play cards. Both probably run for 150$ each

This is kind of a nostalgic thing. I grew up with yugioh. Will this 25 anniversary duel disk fit yugioh cards with yugioh size card sleeves? I half doubt I’d actually buy this and even if I did I doubt I’d open it from the packaging to play with. Still, if the slits won’t fit the cards inside of sleeves than I wouldn’t buy it anyway.

Now I want the gx duel disk to be remade, preferably the slifer red edition that was ocg exclusive
Something that bothers me about these duel disks is that when they release a new duel disk based on the og design it feels like they sacrifice one or 2 things to fix something
i know I'm late to the party but this new duel disc sucks compared to the original. the original isn't great either considering how it would damage your cards but this new one doesn't even attempt to solve THAT problem by making it useable for sleeved cards. So all in all, with this new Duel Disc.. we have...
1. NO Field Spell Zone.
2. It Does NOT have a Firm grip or pressure piece keeping your Deck from sliding out of slot
3. The Activation of the Duel Disc doesn't rotate the other side of the disc to meet in the middle and then pull back to it's duel form like the anime did & the original duel disc
4. The arm sleeve fails to serve as an "adult" version as we just saw, one size does not fit all.
5. The worst of all. STILL is only usable with naked cards with no sleeve protection...
There's no question about it. This New Duel Disc is a 100% DOWNGRADE from the original release version... Oddly enough, even with ALL of it's faults. i think 1 through 4 would have been forgivable if #5 was at least a non issue...
my final thoughts... unless you're getting this for a cosplay or just to have it as a collectors item. This Duel Disc is Worthless to you.
The better alternative is "If you really want the experience of dueling with a duel disc" you're better off saving up for that far more expensive duel disc. sure it lacks some bells and whistles but it does make up for it by having other bells and whistles of its own and being functional with sleeved cards.

So I bought one. I always wanted a duel disk. But I must say putting it on my wrist my child like wonder quickly faded. Not to mention Stand by mode doesn't work for me 100 percent of the time. If I could remove the plastic brace I would return it. If not or it brakes then I'll keep it as a trophy or use it in at least 1 cosplay. I knew it wasn't gonna fit sleeved cards but the loose cards don't stay in at all.

They’ve made 3 good ones. The Red GX disk, the 5D’s disk, and the Proplica disk. The problem is that all 3 are only sold in Japan.

If you’re serious about paying money, you could get the Proplica duel disk. It’s like $200 or $300 MSRP and you can only get it secondhand now for $400+ but it has everything you want with real quality. It also has voice lines by Kaiba and music and I think it even lights up! Else you could get a 5D’s duel disk. That can hold sleeves too and even has an extra deck compartment and it was only about $50 back in 2010.
