I got to see BB and his fabulous band in the early 2002. He was extremely humble and shook everyone’s hand after the show and thanked us for coming. Absolutely awesome. Thanks to BB and your band members. RIP.
Can't beat this...me, I'm an old B-3 guy for 60 years...I've played it all..been in bands with great black bluesmen...always fun, always entertaining and always a thrill...miss those days but remember shows like this...a white bluesman in a soul band is where I found myself often cause I could afford to own and play a B-3...(saved my money in the military from 1965 to 1970 with a plan of buying a B-3 when I got out..and I did.
@@josbruls Hi, yes I did! I went for a Maybach capitol 59 cherry, I custom ordered it with a side mount jack. I had tried a Freddie King model that had fretnibs and a stereo varitone plus a slim neck. I took a chance on the Maybach because of no fretnibs and custom option, which would have been way too expensive with Gibson. The Maybach was delayed 5 times, so I went for an off the shelf model from Thomann. The Capitol has BIG neck, almost 44mm. wide, medium to vintage frets, I would have liked them bigger. I think the BB model also has a big neck if I remember correctly. So getting used to the neck takes a little time. But the tone is there, big bright with good sustain. Maybach cut corners on pots, pickguard and tuners, but the rest is fine, and is has a nice light relic job. So I will play this guitar some more and eventually make a RUclips video on it ;-)
I've never seen anyone slam into a hi-hat like the drummer does during the break in the first song. Just beats the hell out of it but hits it at the same spot at the same intervals without missing once. Amazing.
Then you should check out his stuff in the 1950s, like ''Sweet Little Angel'' or Please Love Me'', 'cause he was really wild, both his phrasing and volume. Later on he reflected on himself and decide to change his style which result in Live at The Regal.
