    Is there a correct way to use the fiber optic cable? When I use my cameras flash it makes the picture too bright because it brightness the lens area by the housing. I’m using the dual mf2 and the interior camera flash to trigger them

      The Sealife Micro 3.0 does not support any strobe, including the Mini Flash 2.

    Isn't Olympus TTL the same as Panasonic TTL? Is the MF-2 ttl compatible with the GH5?

    • @backscatteruw
      @backscatteruw  Год назад

      As long as you have the right flash unit: www.backscatter.com/Panasonic-Digital-Camera-Flash-Black
      It will work on the GH5 with the above product, but not on GH5II or GH6. They are incompatible with that flash unit.

    Is this compatible only with OM ttl? How about Nauticam, Sea and Sea, Ikelite with Sea and Sea or Inon strobes fired by ttl?

    Well Done. But I am a bit confused . I understand that the Mini2 is wireless, but while watching the videos it seems you have a fiber optic cable attached. So my question is what does the fiber optic cable do and why do I need it? I have a TG-6.

      The fiber optic cable fires the 'main' strobe. The wireless functionality is all about the off-camera 'remote' strobe. You still need a 'main' strobe attached to the camera via fiber optic cable. A second off-camera 'remote' strobe is placed near the subject and is wirelessly triggered from the main strobe via the Light Pipe accessory. The remote strobe can also have it's power level set wirelessly by the main strobe.

    I don't quite understand... does automatic ttl mean I don't need a fiber cable to connect the tg6 to the flash?

    • @backscatteruw

      You still need a fiber optic cable to connect the camera. Automatic TTL means that the Mini Flash will fire at an automatic power level. You don't need to set the power on the red dial.

    I purchased the MF-2 and snoot, and have a question about the exposure settings. In some videos you recommend setting the tg6 exposure to -2. If I am using the MF-2 connected to the housing, do I still need to underexpose by 2 stops, or should I set it to 0? Does this answer change if I’m shooting with the snoot attached?

      Great question. The reason we set the TG-6 to -2 is so that it creates the darkest exposure possible. The camera's exposure is separate from the flash/strobe exposure. We want the camera exposure to be as dark as possible to minimize ambient light in the shot - we only want to see the strobe light. You don't need to change the camera exposure settings regardless of whether using the snoot or not.

    If we can only afford one light source for mostly macro with th6, would you rather advise a video light instead of one strobe only?
    If there is only one light source in front above the objective instead of two (one of each side of the objective) is the video light better or does not matter?

      Shooting with just one strobe is actually what we recommend for typical macro shots. Using just one strobe preserves more shadow and contrast under the subject to better help separate it from its environment. We always recommend a strobe for photos as opposed to a video light, though we do have settings guides that explain the pros and cons of each: www.backscatter.com/reviews/post/Olympus-TG-6-Best-Underwater-Camera-Settings

    Seems kinda biased to review your own product. Are there any independent reviewers that have reviewed this product? I haven't found any

    Can I using 2 MF2 for good wide photography ?

      It does great for close focus wide angle photography, but is not meant to replace true wide angle strobes.

    I am using tg-6 and two inon s2000 strobes. (wide)
    can i use one mf-2 (macro, without wires)
    is it available?

    • @backscatteruw
      @backscatteruw  Год назад

      You could use the Mini Flash 2 remotely on a Muck Stick with the included Light Pipe, and use an S2000 as your main strobe to trigger it. The disadvantage to this is that you cannot remotely control the power of the Mini Flash 2, and it will be harder to avoid the main strobe appearing in the shot too. There also are not many snoot options available for the S2000 so it makes it hard to incorporate your second one for dual strobe lighting from the front.
      Feel free to email us at info@backscatter.com for a more detailed explanation. Thanks!
