I failed the 1 hour test and now have to do the 3 hour test. I failed by 5 points. The idea of drinking 100 grams of sugar is bringing back my disordered eating mindset after 6+ years of not having issues with it. I feel so alone with this issue. I am so happy to be pregnant (after infertility) and will do what I need to to make sure my son is healthy, but I am really stressed out about the 3 hour test. I tried finding people with similar experiences but cannot seem to find anything. The 50 grams of sugar did not make me super sick, but I KNOW the 100 grams will. I just wish if I HAVE to intake 100 grams of sugar, that it was actual food that I could enjoy, not just sugar syrup that will make me sick to my stomach. Plus 4 blood draws and sitting in a waiting room for 3 hours.

Hi! If you see this, can you tell me what ended up happening? I had to drink the 100mg to start with and failed my 1 hour screening (I came in at 137 and 135 is their cutoff.) I felt like garbage the whole rest of that day, I never had an ED but am sensitive to sugar and *rarely* eat anything over 50grams of sugar in a day. Usually I aim for a 35gram sugar/carb max. Anyway, I’m having the same concerns and am curious how things worked out in your case.

Same here. My provider ordered for me the 3 h glucose test, knowing that the result was in the range ( 137) means it's below 140 and that is still normal, but just because I had a big 1st baby ( around 9 pound but healthy, normal delivery). I am not the person who enjoys a lot sugary things, 100 grams makes me feel that it really can cause problem for me or my baby, because the baby will get that sugar and his body will have to produse more insuline too. I decided to refuse the test.

I love this video. When I was pregnant with baby #2 my gtt came back in the 200s. Fortunately my midwife allowed me to do the two weeks of diet and log my blood sugar levels. And my numbers where great! In the 75-95 range. I was able to have my baby at the birth center and I didn’t have to go on any medication. Yes it took dedication but I was more determined to have my little one out of the hospital.
Now I’m pregnant with baby #3 and because of being diagnosed pre-diabetic I my husband and I choose to do a hospital birth but our doctor is very incredible. He is allowing me to do the cgm (continuous glucose monitor) instead of doing the gtt. ❤

I got a GD diagnosis this pregnancy (35 weeks currently), and I almost opted out of the GTT... but I did the one hour test and failed with 143. I chose at-home monitoring instead of the 3 hour GTT. My glucose numbers tend to be good (well under 140) unless I eat an unbalanced meal (which I was doing a lot of; I'd eat one component of a meal at a time rather than sitting down to a whole one at one time). I never thought GD could happen to me because I've managed my weight very well and I have no family history or risk factors or anything. But... it did happen to me. I'm just glad I can manage my diet and that the hospital has dieticians that help so I don't have to take medication. Thanks, Kira, for this video!

I have a family history of diabetes. I failed the one hour, passed the three hour in my second trimester, and one week before I was scheduled to re-take the 3 hour in my third trimester, I went into DKA (diabetic ketoacidosis) doctors believed I had undiagnosed type 2 diabetes, which made no sense because how would I have passed the 3 hour test in my 2nd trimester? I honestly believe it was that test that pushed me over the edge and raised my sugar so dangerously high. I was starting to have liver damage my sugar was so high. I was put on insulin and had to see the MFM doc for my third trimester. Then after my baby was born, they wanted me to take a 2 hour glucose tolerance test but I am not sure I should. I think it would be better to monitor at home and focus on diet and exercise. I just hate that it seems like the doctors want to diagnose me with diabetes. After I had my baby my sugar was totally normal. I don’t want to drink a bucket load of sugar again when I can just have my A1c tested regularly.

@@karinachavez2425 hey, so I passed the 3 hour test and it wasn’t as bad during the test. Sometimes they give you a room to sit in and you can read or talk on the phone with a friend. The only thing that was hard for me was the sugar crash once I got home.
I have to take another sugar test as I get closer to 28 weeks, and I’m going to push for the 1 hour test over the 3 hour test.
But if push comes to shove, I would do the 3 hour test again. I rather take precautions than to go untested I suppose. Goal is to deliver a healthy baby. Good luck on your test I know many ppl passed on their 3 hours over the 1 hour test.

I failed my 1 hour with a 132 and did 3 hour today, anxiously awaiting results but this video made me feel much better, thank you! I hated drinking all that sugar both times because I would never consume that much on a normal day pregnant or not and hate that my baby has had to process all of it. I wish medical would start with the 2 week monitoring if you don't already have a preexisting condition. If by chance I fail the 3 hour I'm going to request the 2 week monitoring before I do anything else. I'm at 28 weeks and just want baby here safely.

I was opting out of the GTT and chose monitoring instead. But if feel like I’m going to be cheating the system. Like you are going to eat the very best for that week. Protein at every meal , no sweets or simple carbs. Which will give me a possible false negative( if that makes sense). Only reason I was forgoing the GTT because sometimes by stomach acts up and I didn’t want to risk the drink making me not feel well. But I think the GTT is the direction I will start with now. Then go into monitoring if necessary. I will watch your other video on monitoring.

Was Recommended To Do It Again Around 25-28wks. I Ended Up With An Appointment For 26+3wks. I Honestly Didn’t Fast Well So I’m Guessing This Maybe A Reason I Failed This Time. From Fasting 100, 1 Hr 203 & 2 HR 182.
A Couple Days Later Doctors Office Calls To Tell Me I Have Gestational Diabetes, All The Appointments I Need To Make & All Supplies I Needed To Get. So Here I Am Doing Glucose Monitoring While Waiting & Researching What To Expect At These Upcoming Appointments. 🥰🥰
