- This is part one of a series of sculpting tutorials I am putting together. In this video I will get you started with the basics of sculpting in Blender 2.8+. I wont cover everything, and I'm only showing how to use a few brushes, but it should be enough to get you started.

Sorry guys, Blendswap has denied my base sculpt for upload. anyone know where I can upload free blends. I'm getting fed up with Blendswap, they keep doing this.
Maybe use dropbox
google drive, dropbox, mega, things like that
thingiverse?
Art station. It's where you can upload more than just the blend file.
Sketchfab?

I've been looking for good teacher for weeks and finally found you dude!
THANK YOU FOR THIS, actually helpful unlike most of the other videos I watched.
Out of all tutorials for sculpting this has got to be the best one, my one actually looks similar to yours!!
Thanks! Very informative. I like that you explain the reasons behind why you choose the different brushes. That is what I was missing from other tutorials out there.
Thanks bro. I've been stuck on the head for months but thank God your video has given me hope
0:17 Bass Sculpt - Wise Choice - Approved!
Thank You for this tutorial. Clear and basic. Now l know how to start. Kudos!
You're an extremely good teacher. Kindly keep making sculpting, Retopology and rigging workflow videos. And also if you can explain remesher in the newer version.. thanks
Excellent. I’m new to blender and your video was good albeit faaaast!
great sculpting tutorial, thank you and keep it up!
My first creature sculpting) Thank you so much****
Helped me a lot! Thx!
Just downloaded this program and this video was very helpful. Using the cube then making it a sphere wasn't working and kept turning back into the cube but I just went straight to the sculpt sphere and made a head and shoulders base because the video was easy enough to follow. Thanks 🙏
ran into the same problem myself. just press ctrl + a, after changing the settings to 3. crtl +a is a apply command there. or just go right above that are and click on the arrow down and it shows the apply option.
Thankyou for simple and easy explanation ❤
Trying to learn Blender for Unity Development....this is great! You have earned another sub from me :) I'm following your entire series :)
Great video. I like it that you are fast. If I need to review something I just go back a bit or slow video down in that particular action. Then return to fast again.
That's also great to learn, but it's not quite my world. Let's see if I can do this sometime.
Still, this is a great job you're doing.
Many thanks
im trying this and when i click the Dyntopo and click on the object to draw, it turns the subdivided object back into a cube. theres no "Apply" button when i use the subdivision surface modifier.
same here unfortunately
we appreciate you bro.
12:19 BESTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT
How is yours so smooth? When I grab and drag, it's always jagged in certain spots of the elongated piece.
Just check the option on Dyntopo. After check the dyntopo, make sure to check "Smooth Shading" inside of dyntopo
@@pedropc5824 ok thanks
When I dyntopoed mine it did it work when I want to go draw on mine it literally turned into A cube
ran into the same problem myself. just press ctrl + a, after changing the settings to 3. crtl +a is a apply command there. or just go right above that are and click on the arrow down and it shows the apply option.
@@thelesbianmenace9341 uhhhh to much ill just code the game as well as code the modlew
I had the same issue when u choose the modifier press ctrl + A after u choose it so it locks in
yes!
My issue is with the mirroring the shape comes out wobbly on one side or juss disproportional
Hi I am a total beginner and can't figure out how you apply the same brush to different sides at the same time. at 3.50 you draw one thing but it appears as you apply two. How do you do that. Hope I could explain my problem.
In the top right of the video there is a blue X, click that on yours.
Hey you i hope you understand now
@@alphariusomegon2606 thank you fro helping him my guy respect +
In the tip part of the sculpting section there are three gray boxes named x, y and z. Click on the x for mirroring things on one axe
I need help. When I'm trying to sculpt it doesn't work, they aren't moving. Am I supposed to buy a graphic tablet or IDK what to do?
Can anyone help me?
I've noticed that the smoothing with shift strength isn't relative to the strength of the current brush, It's relative to the actual smoothing brush strength.
I know I'm like 5 months late but if anyone sees this you're welcome. (Edit) I'd also like to say that this may only be an issue that I've been experiencing.
How do you use mirror tool and dyntopo at the same time? Seems like you had mirror tool from the beginning?
toolbar (right menu) --> active tools -> symmetry and mark it.
Is there really much diff in the new version of blender from this one? I have the new one, I hope this still applies just as well. Straight up Newbie.
right in the beginning when he does the subdivide , there is no apply button , u have to trigger the drp down menu next to it and hit apply...👍 or u get stuck w a cube wire frame still ....
@@dollyhadbraces9361 thankyou so freaking much. That was a huge help. God bless.
@@dollyhadbraces9361 I hope your day is going well by the way.
@@ashleyburks4639 its the little things that can get frustrating.... glad i helped out .... the cube is relentless
It was very helpful
I am here .. again. 😉😉🤩
NICE TUTORIAL
I sculpt cartoony head models for ventriloquist dummies. How can I add two straight lines one each on either side of the mouth and parallel to each other, to indicate where to cut the jaw out of the model? Thank you.
When I generate the head, the mesh is split.
Looks like I select almost exactly at the middle of the mesh, can't get a similar result as you, but, I think I need more practice...
I notice that when you mention change the "relative detail" to "consant detail", I didn't get the same result, so, I leave the option "relative detail" and I get a better result - still, not the same as you, but, small steps are done.
I notice that the brushes has an option called "Enable tablet pressure sensibility" > next to the "strenght, radius, etc" options.
For the "Clay Strips" brush, keep the strength at 1 and unchecked the "Enable tablet pressure sensibility".
For the other brushes, changed as you try. Example: I leave the "Crease" with the strength option to tablet pressure enabled.
How to sculpt with reference images 🤔
Do i need to study human anatomy to be good at sculpting?
If you're sculpting humanoids it's really helpful but just having some references to compare your work with should help. Really having references is probably the most helpful thing but give your self a small course in anatomy you can find videos on RUclips for that
@@takashiryu3688 thanks :>
Yes
Not necessarily it’s definitely better to understand the anatomy so you know what comes next but the more you practise the more you will know it. Just have some references
Thank you !
YEEEHHHHHH
Thanks a lot!
Using 2.90.1 How did you do split window? Cool. Thanks
Grab the top left corner, near the "Editor Type", and just pull it to the right (or downwards), and to close just right click between the windows, select join and click the window you wanna close
How you make the brush dropping on the surface? pls
Helllp meeee 😁
if youre using blender 2.8 it should do it automatically, try updating blender
Download blender 2.9??
so where did you upload it too?
I know it’s a beginners tutorial for the brushes but I’m assuming you wouldn’t just use one mesh for a whole character.
Genial Gracias bro !!!
9:00
good video
everytime I press the gyno thing it turns into a cube
Apply first
Someone left this reply on another person's comment that helped me: "right in the beginning when he does the subdivide , there is no apply button , u have to trigger the drp down menu next to it and hit apply...👍 or u get stuck w a cube wire frame still ...."
thanks
the neck said 📈📈📈📈📈
How are you getting your cursor to stick to the mesh?
@Bithiah Ogazi I think G is Grab. If you notice the circle sticks to the mesh as he moves around the mesh which shows exactly what will be grabbed when he selects G.
im not sure why be when i click dyntopo the ball instantly turns into a cube, can someone help?
Maybe you haven’t applied your modifiers ? same thing happened to me one time and if i recall i just didn’t apply my modifiers
why does it turn back to a cube?
oh yeah I figured it out earlier thanks
@@michaeltolibas4276 how to fix?
@@Sam-db1kv you have to apply the subdivision surface modifier first
@@michaeltolibas4276 thank you I am now making a deformed shrek 😄
RIP the internet on his computer
in my case inflate tool is not working dont know why...
Hi, I have several problems too, in my case i had to check the mesh we need enough vertices, that's why he used the tool "Draw" at first, to subdivide the mesh, then I also had to Apply Scale (ctrl+A > Scale), then check the normals too go to edit mode, select all with "A" and Ctrl+n, check if you have a modifier without apply and if you have it, press "Apply". After all this I finally get to work and it went great!
2:32 what does mpad 1 mean?
numpad 1
T_T why i open dyntopo and sculpt it become square back
Same thing happened with me. Just apply subdivision surface modifier before enabling dynotopo ;_;
how can I easily rotate the sculpt?
hold middle mouse button and you'll be able to rotate freely
cloners on cameno in star wars?
Going way to fast for a beginner like me. Simply couldn’t keep up.
Slow it down then. You have that 3 dot thing on the channel of RUclips and that's where you also have the Play Speed, Resolution and Closed Captions in the right hand of the screen and take it from there.
Hope that helps.
all the key strokes are right there , its a struggle but it can only get better
Sorry but too much commercials...
I don't even know how to do symmetry 😭
To the left of the Dynotopo option at the top of the screen, there should be 3 buttons that you can use to activate symmetry while sculpting.
Maybe before doing sculpting i think you have to learn some basics about how to use blender if you want a link plz reply
Sorry, but watching on my Android phone and had 6 commercial interruptions in just a few minutes. 👎
Most professionals ask you to pay for tutorials like this, you can watch your six ads or go pay someone for a add free video. They all need to eat at the end of the day
@@rayapetrova6865 Or a RUclips creator can set the frequency of advertisement interruptions to be less. Just saying... Pro?
@@4funrc11 maybe bc that will reduce his income lol u think they r putting ads just to annoy us?
