Took me two hours of frustrating attempts before I just looked up a youtube video. Finally! It was the cargo hold retrieval that I couldn't figure out. Thank you so much for helping out fellow Pilots. Much appreciated.

Your preface comments certainly fit my profile... after doing a lot of courier, trucking, and a few commodity trades I got curious about how to take on salvage missions. I've followed your guides on how to do things so far without any major failures (just minor ones) so it's a safe bet this new gig will go well too. Thanks so much for doing these! It's a fantastic help to new players like me.
Thanks for the clear explanation! I have been there but I did not pick up the cargo and flew back to the delivery destination without the package haha. Will try it tomorrow! :)

Thanks for the info, I've just picked this up recently and thinking to myself there must be an easier way to scan what's in the system rather than rolling around scanning ever individual point! :D
good tutorial ! there is not enough beginner tutorials. but be carful about fuel and refuel whenever you can or you will have to call the fuel rats. also for the nav beacon, it wasn't targeted, it was a bit more on your left shown as a white square on your radar. to select it you can point toward it and press T (by default) or go in your left panel in the third tab.
Just started playing this, omg was this frustrating, so many guides etc told you how to find the salvage but not what to do when you found it! Yer a wee gem!! Where in Scotland are you from bud? Glasgow here 😢 lol
Hi "GB" a really instructive tutorial video as are your other ED videos - Thank you. Now, I wonder if you could help me with a problem I'm having with my attempt at "data salvaging". I have to state that I'm a complete newbie and in the "older age bracket" of wannabe Commanders. - Having watched your tutorial (at least a couple of times) I have had several utterly woefull attempts at data salvaging. On -rewatching your video again, it has struck me that in both my attempts there has not been a targeting reticle displayed on the HUD - having lined my ship up with the target "box" should the targeting reticle automatically appear or is there a keypress that i need to do. In addition the "scooping" assist box that appears in your cockpit does not appear in my cockpit. No doubt there is probably something really obvious and simple that I'm missing, but a gentle nudge in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Kind regards.
All your videos are helpful... the encyclopedia of the Starter System. I now only do Zero Threat salvage missions... and even then there might be a hidden hostile Viper III... in which case, I hit the fancy manoeuvres, slam the throttle forward, slam the cargo hatch closed, and initial the jump. There is not much I can do with two F1 Pulse Lasers... in a Cobra III. But, I have discovered the further away from one's starting point Beagle 2 Landing, Asellus Primus, the items and modules get better. Towards the core, Sagittarius A or the edge, deep space?
I am sitting pretty 22m from the Dromi Nav Beacon, selected as my target, and absolutely nothing has happened. Nothing has been added or highlighted in my Navigation panel.
Same here. My game says the nav beacon is scanned and then I get a message "Potential savage cordinates uploaded to navigation panel" but my navigation doesn't show any potential cordinates :(
This was super frustrating... took it as my very first mission and spent an hour trying to figure out what to do just to figure out it was bugged. The only blue mission objective was the station to deliver it to and it never showed up otherwise. I took the exact same mission again but to a different system and it worked fine. Was not expecting a bug in my first mission in a many years established game. >
Great! What scanner do you use to scan the nav beacon? I can't find the answer anywhere, always it just says 'scan' like I should know. So many missions failed because of this. Also how far away from the nav beacon can I scan? The mining videos were particularly helpful ;-)
It's just the built in target scanner that every ship has. I have a video on this topic, although I wasn't happy with it at the time and plan to re-do it some time. You may still find it helpful. ruclips.net/video/Xy0-OUjEFJA/видео.html
@@MegaCityGaming thanks, there are other tutorial channels out there, but I feel they skip over important things for beginners and go over things too quickly. The inspiration for this channel.
So I took up this sort of mission, and when I reach the target system I didnt get an update. I have done both a discovery scan of the system and did a scan of the nav beacon, but there is no update to the mission at all. What should I do?
It's the Full Spectrum Scanner you need to use, not just the discovery scanner, but the NAV beacon should give you the info you need. Double check you are in the correct system and also scroll through the local objects list in Navigation Panel, just in case the update wasn't displayed for some reason. Failing that, you may need to discard the mission and try another one. (I've never seen this problem before)
I scanned the beacon and got a message saying "Potential salvage location uploaded to your navigation" but when I goto my navigation it doesn't show me any potential site.
Hi thank you for a very helpful video, i noticed when u intiated FSD to Coelho station, it was much faster than i would normally take, is there some way to increase speed in FSD other than FSD Assist or am I missing something?
Thanks. In many of my videos, the FSD transition is speeded up using video effects, so that it doesn't waste viewers time. There's no faster way I'm afraid.
@@galacticbacon777 Thanks but I did find out you can speed up while cruising in FSD by pressing w on the keyboard however I do note that I received msg to slow down after awhile
Ahh..ok, I misunderstood your question. Yes, you can go faster in supercruise, but I generally keep my speed indicator within the blue lines, which works like a cruise control and will speed up when it needs to and slows you down as you approach an object.
Can you please tell me what I would use the "data link" or "composition scanners" for please, I have targeted all sorts of things with both scanners and got no results. Thank you in advance.
I'm so lost. I went to the nav beacon. I didn't see any scanning happening. And I don't get a line marked blue in the destinations list. What am I doing wrong? Do i need to buy the scanner somewhere to scan it?

And keep your speed below 40m/s (ish). Also the landing gear might get in the way so, huh, don't fly with it deployed :p
@@markgnacinski9666 He mistakenly said that he was going to deploy his landing gear (when he ment to say "deploy the cargo scoop").
