    • @dr.options

I agree. She is obviously extremely strong because she has a very high stride turnover, with an atypically shorter arm range-of-motion, which isn't optimally efficient. In spite of that, her performances are incredible. Like you, I think she could perform spectacularly well in the 200M and 400M, especially with some refinement in her form and improved relaxation.

Now I love your videos and I’m not trying to take away from Abby’s weekend because she performed great, but I’m ngl… you gassed her so much just now. Well you gassed her 4x4 leg at least. Yea she ran fast but let’s not just act like the girl from a&m didn’t run just about the same time if not faster. She also started from further back than Steiner. Abby is a beast tho and she’d clearly excel if she focused on the 400, it’s just a matter of which race she wants to run.
But yea I’m a favour ofili fan tho so I’m happy she won.

  • @joshuaarawole8589

Ofili should really have her own video rather than being a footnote in a video that’s all about Abby Steiner. Not saying that Abby doesn’t deserve praise because, she is an amazing athlete, but ofili literally beat her in 3 events and it’s like she’s been skipped past. When Abby won indoors you made videos that focused solely on her (rightfully so). Doesn’t ofili deserve the same? Additionally, Julien Alfred ran 10.81, Melissa Jefferson ran 10.88, Kevona Davis ran 10.95, and Britton Wilson won both the 400m and the 400mh and she had a faster split in the relay- all these athletes deserve their own separate videos imo.

Never before in SEC history has there been someone who has won the 400m and 400mIH in the same meet. And then to follow that up with the fastest split in NCAA history is truly incredible.
Also, it kind of feels like Favour's wins were an after-thought in this video. I do think Abby's split after her earlier races was very noteworthy and does show her incredible range but it just seems odd to singularly focus on that feat when there were two other female sprinting performances that were just as impressive or arguably better.

While I do always appreciate track videos, perhaps the commentary should reflect some different realities. Abby is good. Yes. Actually, she's better than good. But clearly not the best performances of the SEC Champs. The same person (who you even reported) beat her 3 times. Winning in world class times. And Brittany pulled off the 400/400mh double in world class times which is not easy to do in small meets (and this is the SEC Champs). Then it was Brittany who came back to run the FASTEST leg. I think the tittle should have all THREE girls names in it at the very least. But the reality, it should have only the other two.

Many thanks, TRP for a great video. There were some fantastically talented young runners on display here. Sadly, it was also a prime example of why College runners get burnt out over their 4 year College program. Re Abby Steiner, for example. (plus many others) At this same meet, she ran 4 events: 100, 200, 4x100, 4x400. Plus, how many Heats did she also run in? Also, running 100m races is hugely different to running a 400m race. The 400 takes a huge toll on the body.
That's why, after 4 years of this, including peaking for Indoor Track, many of the athletes are burnt out husks and 98% retire immediately they finish College. It's not good at all. It destroys them.

@Le'Velle Velly Zachary This video is about the SEC. Texas is not in the SEC. Where is Melissa Jeffers from? I could only find a Melissa Jefferson from Coastal Carolina.
As to Favour Ofili, she is from Nigeria and I'll wager that she'll get a lot more love and respect from Nigerians than Abby Steiner will. Also, I heard some very great comments from the narrator about Ofili, including the superlative "incredible."
Anyway, nothing stops anyone from giving love and respect to anyone they wish.
Steiner did run four events in a very short period of time. I don't know if Ofili was on her LSU relay teams but if she was, she was the only one to surpass Steiner's accomplishments in the entire meet. As champ, Ofili will no doubt get a great deal of love and respect and recognition, even in this land far distant from her roots.
I am sure when the Southwest Conference Champs are determined they will get their just due. I looked up information on them and Texas has a performer in the women's 100m named Julien Alfred. The results were not posted. Then I went to the internet and this is what I found: Julien Alfred breaks Big 12 record with 10.81; Kevona Davis ...world-track.org › 2022/05 › julien-alfred-breaks...
19 hours ago - Julien Alfred of Texas smashed Big 12 Outdoor Championships 100m record after running 10.81 seconds on Saturday (14) at Fuller Track in ..." This is better than Ofili's time of 10.93 which was on the slow Mississippi track. Alfred is from Saint Lucia.
I think we will see them match up against each other in the NCAA championships. Who do you favor?
I am wondering why the other champion male from Georgia, Darius Carbin, is not getting much love and respect. He won the high jump.

TRP why are you looking for the "Great White Hope" in track and field. Abby did good, but her goal was to win the 100m and 200m she came in second to Favour Ofili the winner of the women's SEC 100m and 200m yet you act as if Abby did the better. I am sure Georgia's sprinter Matt B. gets 3rd place or worst in the races he will still be treated as the winner in your report. You need to give credit where credit is due and not to your favorites.

Maybe you should put a video of your "favorites" then... lol!! ....besides Favour Ofili is not American.....maybe that's why!!!?? Who knows... and Favour is lucky, she is being trained in the States full scholarship...likely!!! And Abby has beaten Favour a few time,so anybody can beat anybody on any given day. And it was Favour's time, this time but barely, both races 100 & 200 were very close. The 4x100 is a team sprint!!! Wondering.. did Favour run in the 4 x 400 for her team ,did not notice if she did or not??JMHO!!!!!Cheers!

Steiner is an amazing runner but she's not the best in the 100/200 M. This was just the SEC and there may be better runners in other conferences as well. She's been hyped enough. This relay race means nothing because she fell short in her disciplines!

The Texas 100 m was won by Julien Alfred of Texas which smashed Big 12 Outdoor Championships 100m record after running 10.81 seconds on Saturday (14) at Fuller Track in ..." This is better than Ofili's time of 10.93. The native of Saint Lucia, Alfred, just nipped the native of Nigeria, Ofili, but it was on a different track and the Mississippi conditions were unfavorable. Let's see what happens when they get together in the NCAA finals. May the faster one win and show good sportsmanship.
