Although the soundtrack is good.) -No skybox (There is one) -Can technically fly from one star to another without hyperdriving (again, nope) -Trading System (Nope) -Economy (Nope) -Landing on asteroids (Nope) -Portals (Nope) -Animal packs and groups with different ages (nope, shown in trailer.) -Animals who can knock down the environment (nope, shown in trailer.) -Fully destructible planets, allowing you to dig down to the core (Nope.) Sure it's boring and lacks substance...but isn't it exactly what the dev promised? An absolutely humongous world, for you to explore to your heart's content. He didn't promise some epic campaign, or super deep plotline, or amazing boss battles, or...anything else really. The hype blew this game out of proportion, making you all expect it'd be something the dev never wanted it to be, and that's your fault, not his. I'm no fanboy, I probs won't get this game, and it's still "meh" (from what I've seen/heard so far), but not because it didn't deliver on what it promised.

I understand why many would be bored with No Man’s Sky given players used to consuming a diet of action-oriented RPGs, but saying No Man’s Sky is boring is like saying a leisurely hike through the woods or a cross-country drive is boring just because it isn’t bungie-jumping or street racing. There are precious few games that allow for “boredom” to be a fundamental gameplay mechanic. To me, it’s soothing and enjoyable. I can play a hundred games that have me blasting aliens’ heads off, but precious few where I can talk to them and sell them a boulder’s worth of gold I just mined. With that said, it’s perfectly valid that this will simply not be a game for a lot of people. EDIT yes i agree its too expensive it should cost 30-40 instead of 60dollars so wait for a sale

The game was super duper shitty on release, and it deserved the hate. I'm happy the devs took it in stride and really overhauled the game to meet expectations. If you haven't yet, give it a shot. It's actually pretty good now. I feel like they wanted to make the deadline, even if it was garbage at first, and improve on it later. Compare that to Star Citizen and we've got a case study on what proper directing can do to a project.

coming back to this video to say i have been playing no mans sky for a while now and here are my results: - you can tame, keep, and ride animals as pets (for a price) - i have two pet dinosaurs (one is a t-rex looking dino) - i can make my own ships, and love all the solar ships - i am a billionaire (976,310,654 credits currently) - the quests, paths, and the worlds almost feel the opposite now, way to overwhelming. a lot going on and too much at once. - some of the quest are incredibly confusing and i needed to look up - there are still bugs and glitches to this day - but hey, at least i can ride my dinosaurs overall, it would be fun to get another dunkview on no mans sky, especially since they have changed it so much. anyway, much love @videogamedunkey i love your channel!
I do it to test drive games, and if I like them, I buy them. That's how I bought Undertale, Terraria, Starbound, and a host of other games. And I will continue to do so if I find games that are interesting that I want to try out.
No mans sky needs like civilizations and an ability to build bases to make it buyable for me. If it had more progression and wasn't as repetitive, maybe I'll consider it
I love ya Dunk but it's worth noting that this review - your opinions is literally exactly what the devs said the game would be. Nothing more was ever promised or should have been expected. If you paid the price with any preconception of a story or ability to colonize the planets then the fuck up is on you. As many of pointed out before, this game is going to be incredibly hard to review and rate because people simply can't accept something for what it is or remove their personal desires for what they want it to be.
It's worth noting that you can critique a game and say that it's not entertaining even if the devs said it wouldn't be because it's a REVIEW. It's better to give it a chance and say "Guess what, this game is devoid of content" than to just not play it because what the dev described didn't sound inspiring.
The whole problem with the game was the price tag. There is simply not enough substance for what is being paid. Overhype or misrepresentation is the the issue here.

Just because it is exactly the boring walking simulator that the devs said it would be doesn't mean that it doesn't still suck and that it's suddenly safe from criticism.
It makes me so sad, because this game has so much potential. They've set up the perfect ground work, the game looks beautiful and has an interesting concept, now they just need to actually fill it with content (and/or open it up to Steam Workshop and let modders go ham.) Stuff like being able to explore space with other people, being able to build ships and space stations and buildings on planets. Maybe get a group of people together, buy a planet, build cities, and be able to sell plots of land for other people to build on. Create like, networks of planets throughout the galaxy that have been colonized. But currently, there is nothing. it's just a vast emptiness that looks kinda pretty. And it's not even as pretty as they made it look in the trailers, always with lush fields and forests, ample wildlife and vibrant colours, most of the player videos I've seen are just empty dull wastelands of stone and rocks. I so badly want to buy this game and want it to be good, but all I've seen are neutral to bad reviews.
While your ideas sound amazing, it's really not possible for No Man's Sky. With how big the universe is, even if you built an amazing city nobody would stop to visit, since you and your friend are probably the only ones anywhere near your current position. Ship building / customization sounds great though, and I am excited to see what the devs add next update.

I understand why many would be bored with No Man’s Sky given players used to consuming a diet of action-oriented RPGs, but saying No Man’s Sky is boring is like saying a leisurely hike through the woods or a cross-country drive is boring just because it isn’t bungie-jumping or street racing. There are precious few games that allow for “boredom” to be a fundamental gameplay mechanic. To me, it’s soothing and enjoyable. I can play a hundred games that have me blasting aliens’ heads off, but precious few where I can talk to them and sell them a boulder’s worth of gold I just mined. With that said, it’s perfectly valid that this will simply not be a game for a lot of people.

@@oliviawoloshyn5824 fans can't false advertise a game. So the premise of your argument is wrong. Fans only hypothesise about the game. Only a company can false advertise the game like Ubisoft did with Watch Dogs, Bioware did with Anthem and this guy did with No Man's Sky.

coming back to this video to say i have been playing no mans sky for a while now and here are my results:
- you can tame, keep, and ride animals as pets (for a price)
- i have two pet dinosaurs (one is a t-rex looking dino)
- i can make my own ships, and love all the solar ships
- i am a billionaire (976,310,654 credits currently)
- the quests, paths, and the worlds almost feel the opposite now, way to overwhelming. a lot going on and too much at once.
- some of the quest are incredibly confusing and i needed to look up
- there are still bugs and glitches to this day
- but hey, at least i can ride my dinosaurs
overall, it would be fun to get another dunkview on no mans sky, especially since they have changed it so much.

I do it to test drive games, and if I like them, I buy them. That's how I bought Undertale, Terraria, Starbound, and a host of other games. And I will continue to do so if I find games that are interesting that I want to try out.
Pirating is basically the same thing as not buying something. And if you were never going to buy it, then it's not really a lost sale.
No matter how hyped a game is you should ALWAYS pirate first and then buy if it isn't shit.
No mans sky needs like civilizations and an ability to build bases to make it buyable for me. If it had more progression and wasn't as repetitive, maybe I'll consider it

I love ya Dunk but it's worth noting that this review - your opinions is literally exactly what the devs said the game would be. Nothing more was ever promised or should have been expected. If you paid the price with any preconception of a story or ability to colonize the planets then the fuck up is on you.
As many of pointed out before, this game is going to be incredibly hard to review and rate because people simply can't accept something for what it is or remove their personal desires for what they want it to be.
It's worth noting that you can critique a game and say that it's not entertaining even if the devs said it wouldn't be because it's a REVIEW. It's better to give it a chance and say "Guess what, this game is devoid of content" than to just not play it because what the dev described didn't sound inspiring.
The whole problem with the game was the price tag. There is simply not enough substance for what is being paid. Overhype or misrepresentation is the the issue here.
Or maybe they just don't enjoy it.

Don't tell anyone but, there is a secret after credits scene dude...
It makes me so sad, because this game has so much potential. They've set up the perfect ground work, the game looks beautiful and has an interesting concept, now they just need to actually fill it with content (and/or open it up to Steam Workshop and let modders go ham.) Stuff like being able to explore space with other people, being able to build ships and space stations and buildings on planets. Maybe get a group of people together, buy a planet, build cities, and be able to sell plots of land for other people to build on. Create like, networks of planets throughout the galaxy that have been colonized.
But currently, there is nothing. it's just a vast emptiness that looks kinda pretty. And it's not even as pretty as they made it look in the trailers, always with lush fields and forests, ample wildlife and vibrant colours, most of the player videos I've seen are just empty dull wastelands of stone and rocks. I so badly want to buy this game and want it to be good, but all I've seen are neutral to bad reviews.
While your ideas sound amazing, it's really not possible for No Man's Sky. With how big the universe is, even if you built an amazing city nobody would stop to visit, since you and your friend are probably the only ones anywhere near your current position. Ship building / customization sounds great though, and I am excited to see what the devs add next update.

+Tomato Yeah but isn't there a distinct "Center of the universe" or w/e? if everyone started somewhere much closer to there instead of it being some far off place to try and get to, then seeing other people would be far more common, and the game would be more along the lines of an MMO rather than some solitude-simulator.
@Moola. What you just described is exactly what this game should and could have been. But, you know, according to people that try to argue this game it's supposed to provoke a since of loneliness because everyone is so far away. I'm sorry, but I don't play video games to feel depressed and especially not a game that revolves around space exploration.
That's why they should start people in the same 5k ly ish bubble like in Elite Dangerous.
