Potify Texturing Timelapse Substance Painter 2019

  • This is a raw timelapse of the texturing phase of a 3D asset based on a Sheng Lam concept POTIFY. It took me six hours to make, I recorded my failings and successes.

      Can you give me a timestamp of that? I'm not sure with the part are you talking about. The alphas I made them in Adobe Illustrator.

      @@aendom haha, no, the illustrator part is awesome, but the thing I'm talking about is the overlay with the mouse and keyboard that appears around the 1 min mark.

      Me da mucho gusto que puedas disfrutar de los videos. Espero te sean de ayuda. Por el momento ando haciendo un trabajo chico para poder explicar algunos conceptos como los nodos de Blender, la densidad de texeles y renders con topologia antes de que se me acabe el año. De nuevo gracias por pasar a ver el canal!

    Can we do this work on blender with the same quality without using substance painter ?

      Its possible, but its a lot more difficult. I hope Blender develop something like substance painter.

    Very informative timelapse , thx for uploading . How many textures sets do you creat for this project ? And why is the low poly vertex count so high? This can't be a game assets , am I right?

      For this asset, I used 3 TileSets of 4K with UDIMs. I normally export the lowpoly model with 2 or 3 subdivisions. And This is for Film, not a game asset.

      @@aendom so you do use high poly model with subdivisions low poly for normal map bake ? I really wonder if it is neccecery to bake normal for subdivision low poly model.

    Which HDRI are you using about 47:00?

      I use 3 HDRIs for this project. Studio 3, Studio 5 and Bonifacio Street.

      @@thomasg5593 First of all thank you for checking out the video. I used one UDIM with two tile sets of 4K resolution. I used the main "Panorama" HDRI environment and another called "Soft 1 Front 2 Backs"

    At what resolution do you export your alpha maps??

      For this one I used 4096px X 4096px. It has to be in square proportion to avoid distortion inside Substance Painter.

      @@GauravUniyalofficial Im working at Films at this moment, and its a little bit difficult to make a complete project from scratch at my free time. But I will texture something an upload the complete video.
