I wore the "ZIO AT patch" after having a "TAVR" procedure. It was placed on my chest by a physician's assistant who worked for the "interventional cardiologist" who performed the TAVR procedure to place a new aortic valve into my heart WITHOUT having to go thru traditional "open heart surgery". That procedure is known as TAVR, or "Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement". My aortic valve was severely sclerosed, and without a new valve I would have died soon. The day after the procedure the PA came to my hospital room and fitted me with this device, and we activated everything. All TAVR patients get one of these devices to wear for 2 weeks after the TAVR procedure. After ANY aortic valve replacement procedure (whether "open" surgical, or by TAVR femoral approach), there is a possibility of needing a permanent heart pacemaker. This risk factor is impossible to avoid. So, they were monitoring for a condition known as "heartblock". There are varying degrees of "heartblock". Also, heartblock can (and does) occur spontaneously WITHOUT any heart procdures or heart surgeries having been done at all. It can "just happen". It occurs because there is a failure of the heart's magnificent electrical conduction system. "Heart block" is a very serious condition and in rare instances can be fatal if not detected and treated. On the morning of the fifth day after my TAVR procedure I experienced a very serious episode of "heart block". Because I was wearing a ZIO AT patch device, my cardiolgists were notified and able to treat my condition appropriately in an extremely timely fashion. This device had recorded all of my heart beats and helped to get me the care I needed ASAP. And possibly save my life. It is a Godsend....... the people who invented it are "angels from heaven". They have a sincere desire to help people with heart problems LIVE. Always call the ZIO customer number for issues regarding how to wear it, is it transmitting properly, etc........that type of "mechanical" issue. I cannot praise this device and this company enough. They are LIFE SAVERS. Thank you so much ZIO company and employees for being there for me. When you save lives like this and help cardiologists to diagnose heart issues..........you are truely doing "God's work". Bless all of you, and thank you again. Many, many, many thank you's. And untold amounts of great appreciation from me.

Mine fell off after five hours in the sun sweating. These probably work well on people who stay inside in the AC and do not do much. The older monitor with individual electrodes and wires worked much better for me.

Many people have smart scales these days. If you're wearing a Zio device and stand on the scale which sends a small current through your body...how does it not, introduce invalid results?
