      If you don’t mind me asking your diagnosis? About two weeks ago I started having but feels like Skip beats. I had a EKG done I had blood work done and everything was good. I was told it’s probably stress and anxiety related. I’m doing my best and I have stress and anxiety, but they still happen. When I get this beat or extra beat or whatever it’s called it’s alarming. I had an ultrasound done last year because I turned 50 years old just for a general check up and all was good except they did say I had a slightly enlarged heart, but that was due to a lot of stress and anxiety last year. Had a family member that passed away. I went back just about a follow up ultrasound but I wasn’t having the beats at that time so I don’t go back to the cardiologist until July 23 and they can’t see me any sooner. I am thinking about getting this Zio Patch. I was wondering, what was your diagnosis? Any information would help me try to calm my anxiety down from this as you know it’s pretty alarming. Thank you for your time if you do respond.

    I wore a Zio patch in August 2022 and it fell off after 4 days. I tried taping it back on but it stopped working. It did record 4 SVTs which was helpful. My cardiologist's nurse said Zio patch is not that accurate. So a few months later I was given an MCOT patch from BioTel and that one was MUCH better. No problem showering, it stayed on fine and did not itch like the Zio patch. The patches are replaced every few days and the monitor is rechargeable so I wore it for 30 days. MCOT report showed SVT, PVC, PAC and Heart Block. All that said, perhaps there is a better version of Zio Patch that works better? The one shown in this video looks different from the Zio Patch that I wore. Thanks for the video!

      I have a mitrial valve prolapse and mitrial regurgitation. I had a major event in September. Ever since, I have been having palpitations, shortness of breath, and chest pains. I also have a Fitbit that has been recording very unusual heart rate fluctuations. I wore a Zio patch for a week and my results just came back stating that there was nothing of concern. I feel like I can't believe that my results came back as okie dokie. I really feel like that monitor failed me. I feel like I need heart valve replacement surgery and now the doctors will probably say my prolapse and regurgitation aren't bad enough for it.

    This video is misleading in terms of instructions while wearing Zio. The manufacturer instructions state “no bath, no shower”. When I showered following instructions in this video, the moisture got in, skin became itchy and now the top part has no adhesive.
    You do have to protect it. The company should be packing adhesive clear dressing (used in healthcare) so people can cover before shower. Luckily, I covered it with a thick towel so I had some protection.

    One big negative is (unless you don't sweat at all) I cannot exercise. Even a mild sweat will cause the device to fall off. In addition, that means the monitor cannot record what your heart is doing when exercising. Seems to me that how my heart is doing during exercise would be important. This device won't do that due to the "no sweat" requirement.

    You CANNOT shower, bathe or swim with the monitor. The instructions are very clear that you must not get this wet. Even the outpatient hospital where mine was put on said as much. I've had mine on for 2 days, no problems with tape, itching, sleeping, etc. I've got another 11 to go but I don't even know it's there. It was free through my health insurance. A cardiologist ordered it, I went into outpatient hospital and was out in 10 minutes. Didn't cost me a dime. Looking forward to the results when this is over.

      You cant shower for 24 hrs. After 24hrs you can shower you just must not submerge in water. What i do is i put a very large bandage over mine when im showering. I still dont submerge that area in water but it helps protect it from getting any water in it, and if water does come in contact it would be very minimal .. just be smart with it..

    • @rodneyzeedyk8337
      @rodneyzeedyk8337 10 месяцев назад +5

      With a Zio monitor you can shower after 24 hours but cannot stay submerged in water. Put a couple pieces of tegaderm over the adhesive areas and it will stay attached just fine as long as the skin is prepped properly. If the area of skin where the patch is applied does not feel very irritated prior to applying, the skin hasn't been prepared properly.
      This video is incorrect in saying you can swim or submerge based on the directions provided by zio. I personally think you can submerge as long as the monitor stays attached firmly.

    Mine didn't look like the one shown in this video. Maybe it's a different model? It's the same company though. It was loose in the middle part where you press the button. Only the sides had sticky stuff. Not sure how accurate this could really be. It's just a very thin, flimsy sticky film on your skin. It certainly wasn't accurate for me. My Fitbit was picking up very crazy heart fluctuations, I was having palpitations, chest pain, light headedness and I have a diagnosed mitrial valve prolapse and regurgitation. I also had an event a few months ago. I have not been doing well since. I struggle to do anything beyond light activities. My grandfather and great grandfather also died unexpectedly of heart issues. So, this is scary. I FINALLY got a heart monitor and was hoping this would lead to them finally concluding that yes, I should have valve replacement surgery (which is what I think I need) but this company is saying that there were no findings of concern during the week I wore mine. This just makes it look like I am making up my symptoms and keeps me from getting proper treatment. Now I don't really know what to do. For me, this was not helpful. If I get any say in the future I will not choose this brand.

    I am on day 4, and the electrodes refuse to stay attached, resulting in a blinking orange/red light indicating a malfunction. I called and was told to put tape over the electrodes but this has not been effective. There is no way this is going to last for 14 days! Poorly designed product IMHO. And, of course, the adhesive from the patch has irritated my skin.

My grandfather and his Dad both died unexpectedly of heart issues and I feel like I need proper diagnosis soon. This thing is a roadblock in me getting that proper diagnosis and treatment.

  • @jflsdknf

    I hate the design of this monitor. I’ve had to wear it twice. Each time the glue starts to give me a horribly itchy rash after a few days. It’s awful.
    The worst thing about it is the button. You’re supposed to press a button in the middle of the patch when you experience an event. The only problem is this very act of button pressing completely obscured whatever was happening in my heart multiple times and instead showed only artifact from the movement of the button press, so the doctor was unable to tell me anything. Dumb gimmicky design

      Some problems might not show up in 3 days. I had a monitor on for 30 days, and it recorded about 5 instances of Heart Block on 5 different days. And various other abnormal heartbeats, but there were several days where nothing was recorded. I also went at least 5 days straight with nothing being reported. So it seems good to monitor for a longer period to really know what's going on with your heart, especially if symptoms are intermittent.
