  • Brought to you by Zarzaur Law, P.A. - Recently, our firm was hired by a family whose loved one died after being prescribed a mobile heart monitoring device known as Philips Mobile Cardiac Outpatient Telemetry. The product is designed to function by monitoring the heart rate and rhythm of the patient. The device is programmed to notify the device company representative, who is supposed to immediately notify the treating physician’s office so that they can intervene if needed.
    In this video, Board Certified Civil Trial Lawyer, Joe Zarzaur and Dr. Evan Malone, explain what this mobile telemetry device does, its benefits, and the dangers if the device fails or if the data is not communicated to the physician and/or patient.

    $3,300.oo is what the bill was for this test . I got that bill today. ALSO,, It took 7 weeks to get the results and how it determines short winded and light headedness is happening I don't know. But no one at the hospital had the results when I went to discuss the results. THREE TIMES, 3 appointments and they could not produce what we were suppose to be discussing.

    Wearing now. Have had multiple issues with the device. The person I talked to said they stored up to 30 days, so it didn’t matter if it transmitted real-time. No one has contacted my doctor or myself that I’m aware of about irregular heartbeats. 🤔

    I have this monitor. Today I awoke to a strange chiming sound and when I looked over at the phone it was lit up. I wondered if something was wrong so I chatted with support. I was told there was nothing wrong and they could not explain why the phone was chiming or why it was on. I am very suspicious of the accuracy of this unit. I have worn other heart monitors. The way it usually works is the phone alerts to possible arrhythmia and asks to enter any symptoms. Also, my heart doctor read the telemetry every day to check for problems but apparently this on isn't being monitored. BioTel support wasn't helpful.

    My daughter's monitor malfunctioned while she was wearing it and it overheated and the device has burn marks on it.

    Oh wow,
    I got one too, but I haven't used it yet. One, because my cardiologist never mentioned about this devide. 2, I don't trust it. I feel very apprehensive about it. And now, with all these reviews and concerns from people wearing the device. Well, don't know what to do. I have had heart palpitations. And this is why I have it.

    I received the device yesterday and never put it to use. I am sending it back. I am concerned about how much EMF this device will be putting into my body after wearing it for 30 days.🤔 5 G

    "The Biotel company argues that they passed that information on..." The video maybe was done a little too fast. You make some vague and odd comments about if the device is working or not. If Biotel is claiming they passed the information on then the device is working. They weren't denying they got the information. The disconnect is simply whether they actually passed the information on or not. Also the cardiac monitoring group doesn't by default call the Prescriber... I'm wearing one of these now and my provider claims that they would call me on my cell phone if the event was seen as that dangerous because I was be told to go to the ER and that the caller would identity themselves as working for Phillips or BioTel Phillips. So who they should contact might depend on the service provider, but there would be one big delay calling the Doctor first at 2am for example. Anyway either they sent the informaiton on or not and it shouldn't be that difficult to see if there was a phone call etc on that Date that the patient had the event. All of that kind of data can be obtained then the speculation is gone.

    By this description it does not say there was a monitor failure but a failure in communicating with the patient in a timely way. I have used these devices four times now. The criteria for the doctor, emergency response & patient to be notified were set by the doctor each time. The responsibility would fall with the monitoring company. I have had two different companies monitoring and one notified me of the event at 3am & gathered additional info before notifying the doctor. The second company I am with now as I write this only notified the doctor & they notified me 22 and 24 hours after the events !!! The explanation I was given for the delay in notification was because it didn't require 911 or instructions for me to go to the ER. It seems the first company classified the event as Critical & the other one called it an Alert. Again the doc sets the parameters for notification to him/her & the follow up actions.

    I'm wearing the device right now, I have worn it once before about a year ago for a week and supposedly all was well. But now while being prescribed this for a month this time, I'm beginning to wonder how much my physicians office is being notified of events I'm having.

      It says that the device will decide whether to send the info on to the company, based on if it determines that there was an event. If you tap the event note in the app, it will send info. My nurse recommended that I give information as much as possible as the more information there is, the more they can monitor and assess.

    • @echo-hotel
      @echo-hotel Месяц назад

      Depends on the device if it’s sending the data. It’s a computer talking to another computer and alerting when nessary. There is no human eyes on one monitor at all times that’s unreasonable.
