Awesome video! I will definitely be watching this a few more times. I really enjoyed going through the scenario at the end. I am a new grad starting a job as an RN in the ED soon and this is very helpful. Also, I literally laughed out loud when you said “The patient is not getting any deader. Hi Eddie! I hope you’re doing okay! Well, I just want to thank you for all these videos on acls, I just passed my certification today and I must say that what you’re doing is way much better and informative than the regular CEU topics. I learned and still learning a lot from all your videos. I cannot say enough for a job well done! Thank you for being part of our journey as nurses! God bless you and your team!
This is so fantastic to read Joy! I really try to present the material in a way that is easy to understand but also not completely boring, as I know most CEUs are. Ugh. Thank you for taking the time to leave such a great comment!

Great video, but I need to correct something. At 13:27 we see not a typical VT but a Torsade de Pointes. We actually defibrillate as it is in defibrillation rhythms, but the pharmacological management changes. Amiodarone is not recommended and lignocaine is given instead. In addition, magnesium sulfate (2g iv/io bolus) becomes the first-line drug in this case.
I have taken the AHA course & RQI many times. Every time I go through it, I feel dumber and confused like I never did know anything. You video is straight dope, thank you.
I would like to add that in a real life scenario it takes a minute to get the crash cart over and get the pt hooked up, so even though the pt in VF/ pVT needs defibrillation asap, we should start Compressions while getting hooked up to defibrillator

Great video and review for ACLS! One note is that the first rhythm you display at 13:30 looks to me like polymorphic Vtach that could even be Torsades de pointes in the right scenario. @@kevinruiz4125as of now I am trained in all critical care units (ICU,Neuro, and CICU) however I started as a new grad in ICU years ago.I would strongly suggest starting in a critical care unit. Within this environment you will become a very competent nurse. If you find out critical care is not for you, the knowledge you have gained with the usually required year there will make being on another floor feel easy. If you choose not to do critical care, you may start to feel uncomfortable with situations that may need a more skilled nurse. I like being that nurse. Good luck to you and you’ve chosen a great career.

I am preparing for my recertification. I appreciate your knowledge and ease of explanation. Thank you
Best of luck for your recert and glad you found it helpful!
Thanks so much for your videos. They are so helpful. God bless you
I have been a critical care nurse for years and just wanted to say excellent presentation. Stumbled across your video and wish I would have had this long ago when I was a student. I subscribed and you definitely get a like!
What kind of ICU do you work in? I’m thinking about starting ICU as a new grad
Thank you a big help of refresher for me.Been out of ICU for 10 years
Very helpful and I loved the scenario at the end, particularly as it incorporated the different rhythms and cemented what to do
Awesome. That was my hope and have had great feedback on that.
