I’ve had 4 QAD HDX’s on both my bows, and on my kids bows. The only bow I didn’t have a QAD rest was on my target bow. I recently replaced the Spot Hogg Infinity lizard tongue that was on that one with the Hamskea Trinity target rest. I liked it so much I put the hunter Trinity on my EVL 34. The containment of the Trinity Hunter rest is more complete, you don’t have to lock the rest up before drawing it back. I’ve experienced two failures in 2 years with the QAD failing to lock in the up position due to “the wishbone inside the rest failing” (QAD’s explanation) prior to drawing the bow back. QAD replaced the rests each time, but it was frustrating and both failures happened at 3D comps. Hopefully the Hamskea’s will be more robust and less likely to fail. Performance wise they seem about the same. My Hamskea’s were easier to set up (but who cares once they’re set they are set). Hamskea rests are bulkier though. I don’t know, if one is better than the other but the Hamskea rests seem like they are built better (at least the Trinity’s do).
Just bought the new Mathews V3 31. I was a fan of the QAD, But after doing some research and having the same question if the limb driven activation cord getting caught in the brush and limbs and was reassured several people had no issues. I went with the Hamskea Trinity in fact I bought another one for my backup bow. So far really liking them. I guess I'm a Limb driven convert. Thanks for the detailed report on all of the rests
I just made the switch last night from the QAD to the vapor trail gen 7x. I'm definitely excited to get a more stable rest for my arrow. Set up was a breeze. I just need to get used to loading my arrow a little differently and using a finger to hold it when stalking. Small prices to pay for better accuracy and durability.
@@infectedoutdoors yeah I have the shelf pad on I like it a lot, arrow barely moves around and no issues drawing a letting down. Excited to get out and get some arrows through it!
Whisker biscuits will cost you around 6 or 7 fps. I am a Biscuit disciple, using one for the past 20 years. Having said that, I just ordered a QAD Ultra HDX for my VXR 31.5. I just shot in the Total Archery Challenge in Belvidere, TN, and when I was warming up, my shots were going left. Looked at my Biscuit, and the windage slot had broken. Fortunately, by buddy had a spare biscuit, so a quick swap and I was good to go for the day. The Biscuit breaking was highly disappointing, especially because it wasn't even a year old, and was actually the very first time I ever had any issues with that rest. Times, however, do change. There are a lot of things I'm changing......Whisker Biscuit to fall away rest, 5 pin sight to a single pin HHA Ultra, and switching to 2 inch vanes from 3 inch feathers (I shot feathers because there is less effect on the arrow through a Biscuit with those compared to vanes).
I ran a qad for a long time and they are a fantastic rest. I was on a white tail in rainy weather conditions and for whatever reason the cable slid up. at 22 yards and the deer standing broad side I drew back as soon as I released the rest made a crazy sound my arrow went completely to the right and the deer took off I switched to a ripcord loc limb driven was very nervous about it at first there was a string hanging way down and didn't know anything about it now that I've used it awhile I wouldn't go back it's almost night and day how much better the limb driven is
The hamskea bracket is all the way back by the cam on the Mathews have any thoughts on that in the hamskea directions it says to mount 2-3” in front of the cam or something like that
Thanks for that. Sorry to hear about the dental work, hopefully that’s behind you. That was very informative. I want to dump my QAD now. I don’t think you mentioned the sales pitch I got at a local bow shop....”the QAD is the most forgiving because it falls out of the way very fast so if you move or torque the bow while the shot is going off there is nothing touching the arrow and the accuracy is less effected.” Do you agree with that? Thanks.
B Y yes cuz that’s the point of a fall away rest is to reduce the amount on torque to the but unfortunately the QAD isn’t the most forgiving rest you can put on a bow.
QAD and Hamskea both outstanding launchers. But the Hamskea is more complicated and has a lot more moving parts then QAD. I have both and have had no issues with either. ‘When is the last time you saw a cable driven rest used in competition’ you ask. Hmmm, I guess the last time we saw a hunter using a 40” axle to axle bow, large 24/64” diameter arrows, and a V backbar stabilizer. You can’t compare the two disciplines.
Ok guys. Need help. Iv been bow hunting for years and i own allot of bows. I agree with the accuracy of a limb driven rest 100% and shoot a blade on my 3D bow. But every time i make the swap to a limb driven its much louder then my drop aways. Im not talking a little im talking allot. What am i doing wrong? One thing is i keep my forks on cable driven off my riser every time so that keeps noise down. On limb driven iv tried loose and tight cords. Iv put monkey tails on the cords as well and they're still loud. I hunt deer mostly so noise is bad. I do hunt antelope and mule deer out west so i also shoot long shots where the vein noise is more important the the bow going off. If yall have any ideas let me know.
What rest are you running limb driven wise. Because I have ran the smack down which was whisper quiet a Pro V which has a little noise and now the Gen7x which is quiet
Need to move the activation cord closer to the cam. If that won’t work your rest is broke more that likely and a good company will fix it or send a new one.
@@infectedoutdoors it’s right at back but think I may have limbs backed off too much creating very little limb flex especially on a short limb solution ss
Wow! I wasn’t very impressed at first with a guy talking archery in his kitchen. But…. This guy knows his stuff. Very informative and I learned a lot
Thank you sir. Been at this stuff for a while and figured fact driven data is better than one’s opinion!

Yes sir that’s a great rest! I really like the new rest they came out with. It’s a simple clean look to it!!
Good shit man, that was very informative thanks

Eric Zwiefelhofer use the arrow holder that vapor trail provides and mole skin and it will make that learning curve so much easier

What is the most forgivness rest on the market in Your opinion?
Limb driver
@@infectedoutdoors Vapor 7x Gen or Hamskea Epsilon for target and 3d shoot?
How does a “whisker biscuit” compare to a “bodoodle switchblade” in regards to the loss of arrow speed ?
Probably none of set up correctly.

I would suggest checking out the HAMSKEY RESTS
What to do if limb flex is not activating rest?
Need to move the activation cord closer to the cam. If that won’t work your rest is broke more that likely and a good company will fix it or send a new one.
@@infectedoutdoors it’s right at back but think I may have limbs backed off too much creating very little limb flex especially on a short limb solution ss
That’s a very high possibility. Can you turn the poundage up and use a draw board to see if that activates the rest?
When we getting them hats 🔥
I hope soon!
Plus as a HUNTER you usually have a QUIVER which helps protect the cord/string on a Limb driven style rest.
If native Americans had all bells and whistles on their bows, they might have won.
