Boogie Woogie was a popular dance music style characterized by that signature beat and typically incorporating piano and horns. It was one of several influences that led to rock and roll. Asia would be styling in a poodle skirt, Bobby socks and a pink sweater dancing to some Boogie Woogie. The feet just can't stop moving.

Wow, hadn't heard this in forever! I remember my parents and other relatives listening to Big Joe Turner and other artists back in the 50's. Good memories. You guys are just fun to watch. Keep on bringing the joy!😄
He also had " midnight special" "lip stick, powder and paint" ,chicken hawk and lots of others he was singing the blues since the early 1930s thur the 1970s
Damn this is a bangin' track! I've been reading the amazing (and impossible to complete) full history of rock & roll done by a guy called Sampson with his Spontaneous Lunacy blog. He hasn't even gotten to '56 but he credits Big Joe Turner as being one of the best of the early rock n' rollers. I dunno if you're interested in some of the really early musical stuff but i'm gonna suggest a couple songs you might want to check out: - Wynonie Harris "Good Rockin' Tonight" (A cover of Roy Brown's original and the song that Sampson lists as the very first rock song ever) - Ivory Joe Hunter "Since I met you baby" (a much more mellow song but one of my absolute favorites by Hunter) - Big Jay McNeely "Blow Big Jay" (This is an instrumental with one of the greatest sax players ever. The intro and outro to the song catches your attention and Jay never lets it go. This is HOT stuff considering it was released in March of 1949)
Big Joe Turner was one of the early pioneers of blues & rock & roll music. Check out his original version of "Shake, Rattle & Roll" in 1954. The most famous version is by "Bill Haley & The Comets" in the same year. Even Elvis Presley recorded a version of it in 1956. Some of his other hits in the 50's were "Honey Hush", "The Chicken & The Hawk", "Flip, Flop & Fly", "Hide & Seek", "Morning, Noon & Night", "Well All Right", "Corrine, Corrina", "(I'm Gonna) Jump For Joy" etc.
"Big Joe Turner Shake Rattle and Roll! Just a sound and time in music history. So many artists from that time that lead us into Rock and Roll and still have influence in todays music. BJ tell Asia lol you got to Boogie Woogie Asia lol Dont be no wall flower lol You all make me smile so much. Oh guys anyway Stay safe and much love and thanks for making my day
Hi BJ & Asia, my friends The Blasters had Lee Allen on Saxophone until his passing in 10/18/1994. I was able to meet him once and so many stories of playing with Music Artists of the 1950s and Big Joe they had many stories of him too♥
IN HONOR & MEMORY:: 32 Years Ago Today We Would Lose A Legendary Music Icon..R.I.P. Stevie Ray Vaughan..Thanks For ALL You Gave Us..Gone But Definitely Not Forgotten.🙏❤
I was a blues radio DJ in college. I learned about a ton of great blues & rock musicians, not all guitarists. Try Freddy King, Albert King, Ma Rainey, Leadbetter, Son House, Koko Taylor, T Bone Walker, John Lee Hooker, Elmore James, Buddy Guy, Howlin Wolf, Sonny Terry, Johnny Winter, Otis Rush, Roy Buchanan, Samantha Fish, and so many more.
I got my blues education from a 4 hour weekly blues program on my college radio station. I've seen Albert Collins, Son Seals, Buddy Guy and John Lee Hooker in concert.
Fun reaction guys 🤣 BJ, if this "sounds like vinyl" how about some shellac sound on "Roll 'Em Pete" with Pete Johnson (1939) ruclips.net/video/-cNW2dZMyWE/видео.html ? “Boogie Woogie Country Girl” is from 1955 when Big Joe was 44 years old!! He recorded some great tracks in his time with Atlantic Records (mid-1950s) and became a somewhat incongruous pop star. You should react to "Shake, Rattle and Roll" ruclips.net/video/MiFSYJjvgwc/видео.html and Bill Haley's version ruclips.net/video/E3j1c1nY3a4/видео.html in the same video. Or there's "Flip, Flop and Fly" or "Honey Hush" which has that classic line "don't make me nervous, I'm carrying a baseball bat"
Asia feels the song was written and sang for her 😊 Boogie woogie was started before Rock and Roll which was the music and dance craze that came after 😊

Glad you enjoyed it!!
He was still working in the early 1980’s. Progenitor of jump blues.
Asia & BJ, you’ll love his "Shake, Rattle and Roll"(the original!), "Corrine, Corrina" and "Flip Flop and Fly"!!
A pioneer of Rock n Roll!!
Yes those are the best three... plus the catchiest sicko-misogynist song of all time, "Honey Hush".
Don’t forget “Jump for Joy”
He also had " midnight special" "lip stick, powder and paint" ,chicken hawk and lots of others he was singing the blues since the early 1930s thur the 1970s
"Feeling happy " another great song he sang
So cool great rock ‘n’ roll song from back in the day

This just proves good music stands on it's own regardless of when it was performed
Love some good ole boogie woogie
That's a hot little boogie; I haqven't heard Big Joe do that one, before. I also vote for his 'Shake, Rattle and Roll.'

“Radiate the 88’s”
IMO Big Joe is singing about the late great *Katie Webster* "The Swamp Boogie Queen".
My favourite song of hers is *Black Satin*
Many believe Joe Turner was the beginning of Rock and Roll.
Poodle skirt, yes , it was a 50's sock hop time, but juke joints were top secret
Something different. Check out Les McCann and Eddie Harris doing "Compared to what" live
You're talking about the Godfather of rock and roll
Sorry brother at 3:14 serious overbite action. I only know 'cause I caught myself doin' the same thang. L💞ve from Canada.
Definitely listen to the lyrics of Shake Rattle and Roll and see how Bill Haley sanitized them to fit a broader audience
You should try listening to Ela Mae Morse song ( House of Blue Lights ) from 1945 and Ivory Joe Hunter song ( Since i met you baby ) from 1956
Tell Asia what it's all about B J
Hey if you're digging the boogie, check out Brendan Kavanagh and Ladyva playing together! ruclips.net/video/A99sZ0ngd_U/видео.html
