James Brown was the reason why Mj & Prince were existed & goated
And Hip Hop Culture
Word
There is a video you can find with all three of them on stage. It's pretty cool
Truth
Nah, Little Richard and James brown are why we have music that rocks and funks
James brown's beat samples are the foundation of hip hop
For real also Rick James, Marvin Gaye, Toni Toni Tone, Micheal Jackson, Al B Sure stuff are sampled from hip-hop beats
We’ll said!
The most sampled artist ever, not even close.
He did more for music than we could even imagine
Facts Plus Tax!! James Brown is one if the solid foundations of where Hip Hop came from!!! His dance moves also contributed to the creation of Breakdancing as well!! 💪💪💪💪
I desperately miss live horn sections in bands. That big band sound is so primal and gets you dancing for sure.
This! 👆🏻 😊
The horn section for me is the band. That's why I love Tower of Power.
The band was everything! The late great actor Chadwick Boseman played James Brown in the movie “Get Up” and that performance by him really moved me! Yes! Great comment! ❤️😎I love live performances!
This is damn good song. James Brown was the true Godfather of soul. These guys could sing live. That's talent.
At 60 years old, it warms my heart to see four young men appreciate Mr Brown.
5
I'm 47 and was about text the same thing
I was going to say the same, James was a perfectionist with his style and music; he required the very best from his band members; they knew his nods and hand jesters to feel his flow during the songs!. A true artist!
At 50 years old, it warms my heart that I'm not the oldest guy in here. James Brown! I love that he is forever archived in Rocky IV.
AMEN. Mr. Smiley. did you know that there is a documentary coming out this year. A James Brown documentary. I think it's co-produced by Mick Jagger.
I was up front at a James Brown concert in 1978. I didn't think a human being could sweat that much and not die.
i thought i saw you there but was not sure.
That's not sweat, the man drips charisma.
@@finnmcool2 haha👌
Same with Michael Jackson, he was straight burning CALORIES on stage. Him and James probably had to eat 5-6000 calories on show days xD
@@xATown23xGaming ya between Michael on stage and chasing young boys he would burn a lot of calories.
This man said about 6 words, threw in some random sounds and made one of the best songs ever..truly gifted
Art as minimalism is always the most creative
I love watching these young cats dig old school music. James Brown introduced the Funk, nurtured the Funk, and planted the Funk in all of our heads. RIP Godfather of Soul.✊🏾
The Godfather of Soul, the Hardest Working Man in Showbiz.....the incomparable James Brown!❤ Most sampled artist in history, foundation of hip-hop, the reason MJ & Prince had the moves they had! R&B would not exist without this man!
How you know all that?Solace- Woman.
James Brown used to HATE (c)rap (s)hit hop since these clowns are not REAL Musicians nor REAL singer ..they are just clowns that are unable to create ARTS and stole music from other people showing they are UNTALENTED garbage! (c)rap (s)hit hop SUCKS ! DISCO-FUNK-SOUL RULES!
👍🇨🇦
Thank you! I was about to say the same thing.
You aint lyin'!!!
"How did he make such a banger with so few words?" This is the perfect way to describe James Brown's music
made me laugh in a good way
it really was more than a few words... Check out Papa's got a brand New Bag. Yes, he was repetitive. Soul or Funk doesn't need a lot of words.
alot of music is repetitive.
Kirk Franklin does the same thing lol
Haha! Yeah, I always wanted to be a horn player in his band cuz you only had to know about 4 notes.
James Brown was a force of nature, a whole vibe, and excellent performer. ❤ Love him!
The beat moving to him! Not the other way around. His band is PERFECT🎯
It’s a joy watching these dudes appreciate old school artists.
Facts
Skip that's not what I'm getting. Seems to me that they aren't getting what James Brown was about,
@@jeanettehardison8762 explain
@@jeanettehardison8762 They seem very impressed by James Brown.
I actually met James Brown one day in the mid 1990's here in South Carolina. I pulled into a convenience store and he came out with a bottle of T.J. Swan wine. He stopped and spoke to me and my kids, he said "God loves the little children" and then left. I knew he lived several miles from me but you don't ever expect to meet someone like him outside of a store. It's just a nice memory of a very nice and talented man.
Thank you for sharing Judy!
TJ Swan lol
You were BLESSED!!!
Wow what a lucky experience ❤ thanks for sharing it
What a cool story! Definitely sounds like JB. Thanks for sharing.
Love to see this generation appreciating the classics!!
This is why our music was called Soul, because it was sang from the depths of the soul and had a strong spiritual element.
The deeper you get into James Brown’s legacy. So many artist have sampled his music and his voice. He’s a foundational artist for real. So many artist would not be here if it wasn’t for this man.
No autotune, people are missing so much in todays music ! These people had talent!
I agree I see young black kids with hardly any talent is a shame .I remember when the white kids used to try and sing like the black kids, now the black kids sound like the white kids
THEY DID. NNONE TODAY!
calm down, if you looked you would find that there are plenty of talented people right now, since you didn't look, you really shouldn't be claiming there are no talented people
@@xmathmanx Okay, I will. There are no talented people. Bunch of cellphone surfers...
Auto-tune is the devil's spawn
I saw James Brown live in concert his energy and performance were out of this world.
Facts!!
There are a many reasons as to why he was the godfather of soul. I used to work for Mr. Brown in the early 90's living in the Augusta, GA area. He was and always will be the greatest soul singer in the world.
James Brown will always be the greatest he started soul funk & rap& hip hop & disco music 🎵🎶🎵🎶. all the soul&rap stars disco stars hip hop stars owe a lot to the king of soul ... The godfather James joe brown.. as I go to grocery store & see all those tribute books on Elvis there should be tribute books to James brown ... I love Elvis but l love James Brown too!! I wish someone would put out tribute books on James Brown ..
If we pAy tribute to Elvis all the time we should pay tribute to James Brown too!!! What do you people out there think,?😊❤
The Godfather of Soul! One hell of a entertainer. You don’t get cheated when you go to his concert. Seen James Brown many many years ago at the Civic Auditorium and in San Jose, ca. React to any of his songs and you won’t be disappointed!
🍻
He claimed he was the hardest working man in the business. From what I have seen at his shows I could not agree more with his claims.
He had his band in complete control.Every move was a signal to them. He was a perfectionist and everyone around him had to be in tune with his mood and moves.
probably because he was a violent wife beater
@@shirleygordon3793 That he was and served time. i;m refering to his quality as an entertainer only
AND I heard old James'll whoop yo muhfuckin azz too,, quickly,, hands was PHENOMENAL 👊🏿
This is do true. BOOTSY COLLINS said working with James Brown was like BOOT CAMP. Working with GEORGE CLINTON was the TOTAL OPPOSITE: NUTHIN BUT A PARTY, BABY!!
@@dup313hustledifferent6 Get on the mothership!
James was ALL THAT!!
Worked hard and worked his band hard.
He was a perfectionist big time and man he made sure his band was on it and tight as hell! You’ve got to check out more of his work!!
I was watching a documentary on James Brown which started that if a band member messed up during a performance JB would point at them without missing a beat and they knew they were getting fined for it. His band had to be tight or else.
This was the first video we found of the Cartier family watching & their reaction to old music...now my wife are fans of your CartierFamily...BTW I'm 72 & my wife is 67...and we're fans...not STAN fans, but we're enjoying you hear the classics for the first time...and helps us relive the glory days 👍
I'm a 72-yr. old white gal who had the privilege of seeing James Brown and Duke Ellington in concert years ago. What great music our generation grew up with! We loved Stevie Wonder too. Glad you're enjoying it. If you haven't listened to Little Richard yet, check him out. The Beatles were inspired by him. Oh, and the brother in the back looks kinda like The Rock!
I feel ya honey, right there with ya, same age, but still loved James Brown and Ray Charles, listened to Ray when I was a baby and never got tired of him. My room mate in college was white but went to an inner city high school. So although she might have had white skin she was filled with soul, she tried to teach me to dance , total failure but I still loved the music!
Sam Cooke!!
You loved all them so much but what did you do to dismantle the system that oppressed them and their people? and that is still oppressing their people today?
@@ES2990 just trying to start mess. Hatred & ignorance exists and unfortunately always will. Should one still try to put an end to it and do better? Yes, absolutely. But you know what you doing 😏
@@ES2990 oh knock if off please. Many of us have been doing our best to stop this all our adult lives. I grew up in Virginia where racism was very strong at the time and interracial marriage was against the law there, and was young during the civil rights movement. Those shaped my beliefs to support blacks and people of all races. I have multi racial friends of all ethnic groups including black, middle Eastern, Native Americans and hispanic, worked with and hung out with the black basketball players in college where we'd all get together at night in the dorms to play the piano and sing (a few of them went on to play with the Harlem Globe Trotters), brought black and other friends of varying races home for dinner with my family and have interracial family members. I continue signing political petitions, support and donated money to Rev. Warnock, Stacie Abrams, Corey Booker, Mandela Barns, Val Demings and a multitude of other people there, and voted twice for Obama. When he first ran, a friend said, "look at the black man." I had to look several times because I hadn't noticed Obama was black. It starts with one person at a time. As the Dalai Lama says, Peace Begins With the Individual". You sound like you're still bitter. So what are YOU doing to make changes? Can you think outside the box or are you still nurturing your grievances? Did you vote? Do you support candidates of all races based on qualifications, not just race? if so, did you vote Republican? Or Dem? Because that makes all the difference in the world. NOW LET'S GET BACK TO THE MUSIC!!
There’s a video of him doing a duet of this when he’s older with Pavoratti, a famous opera singer. Probably the best live musical performance I’ve ever seen
I just saw that too...it's fantastic. Two amazing performers, each the best in their respective genres, having so much fun and giving each other love and mutual admiration. Anyone reading these comments, please check out that video here on RUclips.
That's a great performance. I hope they watch it. ruclips.net/video/GaB9F3R9cIY/видео.html
Yes
I just mentioned this! They should seek that version out plus his live "Man's World" performance in the 1960s while young. Still saying to myself oh hell nah!
That performance- whew!
The duet with Pavoratti was fire!! I watch it often!!
Agree, if you would have told me about it I would never believe it could be so good. Honestly, I listen to it every now and then and it never gets old. RIP to both of them. The greats are all more or less gone now.
There is a lot of good music today but it is hard to find beautiful music anymore. This is beautiful music. Pure emotion.
I hear this and I still get chills! So many years later, he really did leave his soul out there on the stage. And to see young folks diving into it and being just as blown away as I am. What a great way to start my morning! Thank you xx
RESPECT!! NO AUTO TUNE EVER!!!!😍
James Brown has a powerful voice. Very few singers actually make me feel like that.
Hardest working man in showbiz
R.I.P.
The first time I heard King Heroin. Blew my mind. I knew James had some thangs going on but. That was deep. I felt that.
Yes sir
Years ago I read that Bob Seger was inspired as a young rocker by James Brown's singing. It taught him to just sing balls out.
Some say he couldn't sing....He could really sing.....Listen to his earlier recording. You tube it.
Saw him in concert twice at the Hammersmith Apollo in the 70s. That place exploded, we were dancing it was amazing. Those dance moves, unbelievable. Those days were pure joy even though we had no mobiles. All in our memories.❤❤
You guys are absolutely adorable. Your reaction's are priceless. Keep it up and so nice to see young boys listen to all kinds of music.
This is the truth. Makes you cry watching it. Our music is made from life experiences. My father cries when he hears this.
JB is one of the greatest artists who ever lived. He created R&B by himself, out of whole cloth. George Clinton, Bootsy Collins, Michael Jackson, Prince, Rick James, Led Zeppelin, Roger Troutman, MC Hammer and too many others to mention were all directly influenced by the King.
True
ruclips.net/video/EIACLWf-mDs/видео.html
Dont forget, Mick Jagger, Eric Burdon... the list goes on!
All those people played for James Brown
@@JamesBrown-ty5wp Well, actually only Bootsy Collins played for him but yeah, the others certainly patterned themselves after him.
@@D.Antony my apologies ... Perform with JB etc
I'm Mexican but years ago when the James Brown movie came out I went to watch this in the theaters. Till this day it is the greatest experience watching a film in theaters I've had because everyone was turning up, old and young. Every single seat was taken. I've been to this movie theater countless times before but it was the first time I noticed how more than 95% of the audience was black. I had no idea how important he was to black culture and my respect for him grew. i love his music now and the funk, soul, and jazz genre. I have an obsession for it actually. The definition of a legend.
Love watching you guys discover legends like this! Most people, if they know him now, it’s for things like “I feel good” but the man had some pipes!
when I was a little kid my Mom cranked James Brown all the time, He inspired me to want to play music been playing drums now for 56 years Thank you MR James Brown
👍🇨🇦
James Brown is the king of soul hands down. No one can touch his talent and passion to perform and sing with a purpose. Gotta react to more of his music. Ray Charles is another legend you guys need to check out.
Still waiting for a reaction of Nina Simone.🙏🏻
You're well cultured lady ! These youngins don't know what they've missed. I tell my family to listen to the old stuff for growth! Motown ain't call music of soul for nothing. But The new stuff has lost they're souls, they're very unaware! AKA Generation X
@@melvincabbagestalk6202
Thank you kindly friend! I grew up with Motown and oldies but goodies thanks to my dad. He exposed me to so much great music that I'm sad to say will never be made again. And I agree, lots of young folks don't know what good music is. But I'm so happy to see these five young men give all of these artists a look see and that gives me hope. I love this channel, and enjoy the banter back and forth, and how excited they are when they first hear a song they wouldn't know unless it was suggested. But being open minded is key.👍🏻
Gotta check out Ray Charles. You will not be disappointed.
👍🇨🇦
I love JB, but I bend the knee to Otis Redding.
You guys are so adorable! Loved watching your passionate response to one of the greatest performers of the World!❤
That's all we did is listen to our parents and grandparents music as it ELEVATED our spirits ✨❤️....Was gifted a 45 inch "Black & I'm Proud" long after it was made as it was a timeless song that still meant something to us🎯 ....RIH to one of the coldest /Godfather of soul ... James Brown🕊️🙏🏽✨
His band was one of the best in the world!!! Precision was everything to James!!!! He rented out his horn section to other artists because his was the best around!!!
The Best
Facts
"Fred?...FRED!!!" "Can I count it off?!" I know I have a dusty old cassette with a collaboration with the JB Band and someone else somewhere in the archives.
James Brown is the reason we have hip hop and consequently rap. He gave "the funky drummer some" and thats how we got the "break" beats that became hip hop
Your videos are inspiring! I am so glad I am old to have been your AGE when these songs came OUT! I saw James Brown Live in the 1980's.
James Brown was and is the GOAT. What a excellent performer. He is the jam
There is this brilliant live performance of James were both Prince and MJ was in the crowd and he invited them up on stage. Check it out!
James Brown was an ICON! Loved by the world over! Only ONE James Brown!
Jame Brown, well respected ICON, know other musician can perform like this man!!!!
@@sylviamitchell7773 Totally agree! We had so many singers back in the day, we don’t have a lot like that anymore. Such amazing talent!
How you know that....... White people are not into JB. COME ON IRISH.
He put every once of his being in a performance. Loved to watch him perform,
Loved y'alls reaction! I was totally feeling it right along with you guys 👍🏾
A song doesn't have to have a lot of lyrics when you have the gift of conveying emotion without them...and he got it done!!
The best James Brown performances are his fast songs. Keep in mind, no matter what happens on stage, he's always directing the band.
Singers that put their heart and soul into the music. No auto tune or over produced noise.
Damn. Had to sign-in, finally, to like the video. Love watching you guys. Keep up the good work! Aloha
RECOMMENDATION: James Brown singing this song with Luciano Pavarotti. They kill't it. And the mutual respect and admiration between the two greats is wonderful to see.
For me, this has got to be your best reaction to an entertainer that I’ve seen. James Brown is like no other. I love the respect you showed him while reacting to this performance. It touched my heart.
Amen Michele Perez.
I'm tough also.
Mind as well.
He's the most sampled artist in history...
"In the church shoes?" Your reactions are all so awesome. I wish you'd seen one of the faster numbers, too, though; I'd've loved to see you react to seeing the Good Foot for the first time!
I absolutely Love the reactions From these Young Men, Appreciating O.G. Real Music I grew up on & Learned from My Parents etc. When Music had a meaning & meant something. Back in those days, they Sung about what they were going through or been through. ❤️
Back when musicians could actually sing.
Back when musicians had real talent. These days all they have to do is look good and dance. Auto tune takes care of the rest.
🤣
James Brown did this song live much later on with legendary opera tenor Luciano Pavarotti...amazing :)
That shit was incredible. They both went crazy with the vocals. RIP to both 🕊️
That version is literal perfection
It brings my heart such joy to see the younger generations enjoying the music of MY generation, and appreciating it the way I do🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
He was very deep into his music and performance! The Real Deal! Captivating and Legendary!
Awesome video!! I was born in 64 and when I was a kid, my parents had a k-tel record called 24 groovy hits. One of the songs was “Papas got a brand new bag” by James brown. I must have listened to it a thousand times. Thanks for the memory. Take care
Best song please listen. I was born in 1949 and this music was some of the first great sounds out there. Sample Motown it was all great in the 60s. The Temptations, Smokey Robenson, The Ronnettes and so many more. All the kids loved Motown.
Perfection. James felt every note he sang and then some. Great reaction guys! Also check out Otis Redding "Try a Little Tenderness" live at Monterey Pop Festival, 1967. He was another amazing soulful singer.
Oh that was a special treat - but so many of them there were all top shelf. Was listening to Janis Joplin today and ended up at Monterrey Pop lol just browsing thru memories lol
James Brown didn't just sing with all his soul, he converted the mic and lyric to spiritual nirvana.
'How does he make such a banger out of these few words?' Because he's singing the truth with soul.
James Brown must be watched LIVE! More, more, more! 👍👍👍
The Godfather of Soul!!! The hardest working man in show business! James Brown!!! He could put more feeling & soul into just a few words....that others take a whole song to convey!
Lol....dude sittin in the middle was feelin "it" !!!! Love what you guys are doin!!!!
Been watching you lads for a few months and mostly love your reactions to singers I grew up with. You all didn’t know JB!!?! 😅 keep it up, it’s fun.
Ya’ll gotta do James Brown “Get Up Offa That Thang.” One of his funkiest songs for sure
Watching these young men watch James Brown had me smiling the whole time.
I enjoy watching you guys every morning know looking back at my Era, and even when I was a child in 70's . I gradually in 84. Husband 82. Thanks for a very refreshing start to our day. Ray Charles the man also.
Am lucky I saw him perform in San Francisco in the early 2000's. He could still dance and sing. The crowd loved it. It was a small venue and he filled it and killed it. Great show!!!
James's voice & music sings to your soul, just like Marvin Gayes's & Al Greens 👊🏾😎🤠👍🏾❤️
I was a fan of Mr. James Brown since the late 60's. Such a powerful performer!
My first concert! I was 14 years old. I snuck out of the house and went with a bunch of girlfriends! In 1961!
THIS IS soul.. a few words (6 words) and all the passion in the world.
Thats all it takes 🤗❤️
Mr. Brown was from my town, and gave back to it even after death by leaving it in his will. He was an awesome entertainer and person to the people. TY for the reaction!
Old school definitely hits different. It hits the soul. JB gave his all in his performances and thank God he inspired more greats after him. React to MJ "Who's Loving You"
