Pavarotti used to do these benefit concerts in his city of Modena, Italy, and they'd featured renowned names in music from all over. All artists were personally invited by Pavarotti and did it for free because singing with him was enough payment, recognition and exposure. He did it from 1992 to 2003 and helped a lot of humanitarian causes all over the world with millions of dollars.
This is what happens when two vocal legends come together. Standing ovation for Luciano Pavarotti and James Brown. The blend of opera and soul touched my heart. ❤
I love James brown but he isn’t as good as Freddy Mercury or frank sinatra. Luciano, Freddy and frank are the three most known and best vocalists in the music industry
To sing with Pavarotti was one of James Brown's greatest wishes. They asked James woo would he love to sing with, he said Pavarotti. And Pavarotti, being a fan of James Brown, was more than happy to oblige.
What I really like about this performance is that James Brown is so supportive and happy to do the duet with Pavarotti. He's clapping and happily singing! I love when artists support and encourage each other
Pavarotti's verse translated: Man chases the power but doesn't know great limits has to be how it will be done In his palm he holds an idea that doesn't live in his imagination… he wanted If you don't notice that then nothing makes sense if you live only for yourself
You see my Brother, that stunning feeling you have is the definition of Soul. The meeting of too world's under the umbrella of Love. See the admiration and respect between these beautiful souls. Made all of us feel it too😉, rayray ✊✌️🤙
It's a show called "Pavarotti and Friends" where Pavarotti invited all kinds of great singers for duets. Many famous / less known artists from all over the world have joined him. These shows are amazing one of my favorites is him and Skin (from British punk rock band Skunk Anansie) singing You'll follow me down.
simply one of the best duo performances ever! I have not found one that matches it for me! every since this video was first shared on youtube I still get chills listening to it! the orchestra, the backup singers, the stage! it had it all! they don't make em like that anymore!
This is what I call a "connection of souls through music" no boundaries just passion an understanding of how music can bring all together...WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD IT WOULD BE❤
These two kings have so much admiration for each other! Check out the translation of what Luciano is singing- it goes beautifully with IAMMMW! It’s from an entire concert- Luciano and Friends- with many more pop stars.
Karen here. Oh....My...God. Cant believe how wonderful this goes together. One of the best collaborations. Pavarotti with Clapton is good singing Holy Mother
When you watch Brown perform especially when he was in his youth he hits the stage like a whirling dervish. Just a tornado of charisma and stage presence. It's hard to look away. Absolute legend. I've also heard Pavarotti was a whole other level when you heard him live. Like, something about how a room resonates in a opera hall where the sound moves through you that speakers just don't capture. Sad I never got to experience it. I've seen live orchestras and the phenomena is definitely real. Headphones allow you to hear the sound but the sound doesn't really move through you like in real life.
Luciano Pavarotti was an extraordinary artist. His voice was out of this world, and his persona iconic. He became a household name in 1990 after the Soccer World Cup concert with The Thee Tenors. He also had several colabs with popular rock and pop artist at that time. My favourite is his performance together with Italian rock star Zucchero in the masterpiece ”Miserere”! His powerful voice! Contrasting Zucchero’s rock voice. So much emotion! The crack in the end! OMG! Perfection!
There are several recordings. I checked again and found the concert in Royal Albert Hall 2004. Pavarotti was old here (he died in 2007) and his illness was taking its toll on him. But the performance is amazing (I even cried a little again)
I've never heard Brown sing so purely. Mind, I haven't hunted it up, so my bad. But damn if he didn't bring out his roots to meet Pavarotti's eternal richness and beauty. This is a live mashup for the bleeding ages.
JB si emoziona di tanta bellezza ricevuta e manifesta la sua gratitudine con sorrisi , applausi e baci. L'abbraccio finale un bellissimo gesto di umanita e fratellanza
Who would have thought that these two great talents would have shared a stage together? They are so different in genres of music that made them both world famous. You can see the admiration and respect they have for each other. And, we, the audience have been fortunate to have been graced with their talents. Brilliant idea.
Have watched this performance a 1000+ times and still makes me tear up while it sends shivers through out my entire body.. just so easy to get lost in the moment
This was exactly how I reacted to this. Smiling, chills, and tears of pure musical masters! I know it takes 25 years or so for the Library of Congress to deem music to be worthy of it's distinction. This one just put it in now. From note one it's worthy!
BRAZIL - Yes, absolutely WOW WOW! This is a pearl, legend. Two legends in their musical genre, but who said that different musical genres cannot merge, or form this magnificent duet ??? I'm a layman, I didn't study music, I sing, I'm just a fan and I like to enjoy what is quality and Pavarotti and James Brown are 2 legends of music. Man, wonderful, beautiful.
I feel your emotion. Who can listen to this and not be stirred? I love the fact that I can adore James Brown and Pavarotti in the same breath; in the same space; in the same world! This is the magic of music!
The thing about Pavarotti aside from his astounding powerful and beautiful voice, was his openness to other styles, he thoroughly enjoyed others style of the craft and was passionate about others passion for it.
That’s a truly musical soul. I know several people who are musically inclined and they can appreciate all sorts of musical styles even if they’re completely different from what they listen to most.
I saw James Brown perform in a high school gym in Hilo, Hawaii, over 40 years ago. It was great and just so much fun. He really went for it in that humble venue. I really enjoyed this Pavarotti/Brown collaboration. I could listen to it over and over.
What’s there to say about this performance....just mind blowing. It’s amazing the different genres you can make a song into with the same melody . Pavarotti cooperated with a lot of different artists in his last years.
I was a kid in the 60's when James Brown performed "I Feel Good!" on television. I fell in 💕 I just discovered this a few months ago and like you, I can't seem to get enough of it!! Stunning and beautiful!❤️
Where in the hell where we when this was taking place... the single (one of) best performances I’ve ever experienced. You can’t hide talent. Simply BEAUTIFUL!
Absolutely love this! Love both of these singers. What a beautiful beautiful duet. Pavarotti has performed with many different popular artists. He was probably the best Tenor ever. There are several others too but not quite as beautiful as Pavarotti.
Everybody watching this for the first time, and often not being to familiar with Pavarotti, loves James Brown but when Pavarotti starts to sing the jaw drops. People become speechless. Not that Pavarotti puts James Brown to shame, certainly not, but they are not just prepared for the Italian and his art. Amazing colab!
It's just great. You wouldn't think it would work but it does brilliantly. Great song, 2 great singers, great orchestra...and MrLboyd - your reactions are always genuine and heartfelt. Love ya!
Pavarotti got a lot of flack from the Opera Snobs and establishment, but he had a great respect for Music not just his own. I do believe he did other similar performances like l just don't know of them.
10 years worth of concerts and each raised $ for different organizations, mostly to benefit children around the world. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pavarotti_&_Friends
Thanks for reacting to this! This was part of a yearly charity event organized by Pavarotti himself, called Pavarotti and Friends. So he would invite only legends of the music to sing with him on stage. Some legendary performances, including this one. He's singing in Heaven now, too many of them are... RIP
Mary here, not Moe, and that was absolutely incredible - musically AND vocally!!! I took voice 101 & 102 in college with a classically-oriented professor & it was NOT EASY! Even singing soul music well isn't easy because it takes focus, improvisational flexibility & plenty of talent. So I give major props to both of these timeless artists who blessed us with their gifts! I hope they're up in heaven with all of the other timeless, amazing artists, singing for each other & having group sing-alongs, as corny as that may sound! And what a great video!
I whatrched this duet about 100 times and I like your reaction. They two absolute master and this arrangement is so brilliant taking two worlds togheter
Thank you thank you thank you for reacting to this! I had never seen or heard this performance before. So thank you for introducing it to me.🙂 Please react to the three tenors if you can. Or a portion of it.
This was a dual Master Class. Matched with the orchestra and backup singers it was nothing short of amazing. I recommend the calab of Pavarotti and Bryan Adam’s. Would love to hear your take on it #MrlBoyd
That was pretty spectacular! I truly thought you were going to cry in the middle of the song. I believe I watched you more than the actual video itself. That was an overall phenomenal performance.
And, the concept of the “Pavarotti and Friends” concerts for charity was suggested to Pavarotti by Princess Di.💔
Ty
You need to see Pavarotti with Barry white
Who knew!? This is pretty cool.
@@Dej24601 Wow! That makes it even more special!
True soul is universal. It's transcending.

@@baybay4906 lol what? I mean you can have your opinion but wtf does that have to do with Jennifer's post?
To sing with Pavarotti was one of James Brown's greatest wishes.
They asked James woo would he love to sing with, he said Pavarotti. And Pavarotti, being a fan of James Brown, was more than happy to oblige.
Pavarotti has several duets I saw him in San Antonio Texas in the 90s Best Birthday Present from my son ever.
What I really like about this performance is that James Brown is so supportive and happy to do the duet with Pavarotti. He's clapping and happily singing! I love when artists support and encourage each other
Both are incredibly talented artists.
I don't think that there is a singer anywhere in the world who would not have loved the chance to sing with him.
Just gotta love those big ol smiles from James and Pav!!!
Thats because Pavarotti is a better talent.
The very Best , performance ......incredible...... Pavarotti & Brown , Number One !!! 👍🌈🤩
i must have watched this song 1 million times and ill watch a million more. when i first saw it i lost my mind and i still do

Amazing!
Never saw/heard this before. Wow!
Never knew this existed...might be one of my favorite things ever.
I have watched this a hundred times.
Pavarotti's verse translated:
Man chases the power but doesn't know
great limits has to be how it will be done
In his palm he holds an idea
that doesn't live
in his imagination… he wanted
If you don't notice that then
nothing makes sense
if you live only for yourself
THAT'S DEEP.
Chases the power* not runs
Exacto
Thank you
Thank you!
Pure Magic!
OMG when they started singing at the same time!
Its just beautiful, i cry everytime i watch it...
This duo actually makes me cry, so damn incredible.

Our Luciano says "nothing has sense if you leave only for yourself"❤️ We miss them too Much.👍👋🇮🇹
Some things are so beautiful they bring tears to my eyes.. this has been one.
Two of the best in their respective genre.
Add a top orchestra and backing choir.
You get something that's beyond timeless.
They look so pleased and happy to be singing together too, the love and respect they clearly have for each other makes the performance even better!

I literally cried the first time I heard this.
The orchestra is marvelous here!
The king of soul music and the king of the operatic genre melded into a piece transcended by harmony, power and melody...beautiful.
Why am I crying?? this is the most beautiful collaboration I've ever heard ..❤️❤️
I Love both of the both...Legends.
This was perfection... even more incredible when taking into account the age of these men performing at this level ... ....

Two old guys in their 60's giving the most amazing performance. like you, I was speechless, and in awe when I first saw that video.

I had like a goosebump stroke or something. Holy molly.
I also loved it when Pavarotti sang with Michael Bolton.
oh god those two heavenly voices together. So much power so much control. I absolutely love it!
First time hearing this version took my breath away
Words can't express this collaboration of two of the greats in music. Their voices are silenced now, but we have these great videos to preserve them.

Greatness overload. This may be one of the single greatest duo’s in world history.
