I know this is an old video now, but been a subscriber for a while, came for all the good good about the video cards! Just thought I'd say, I picked up an LG Wing as I collect 'interesting' phones, unfortunately it doesn't work in the UK, being a Korean import it doesn't like our radio bands over here for 4G/LTE and 5G. LG were always 'out there' with their phones, but that's what made them so enjoyable. They pioneered features, before people realised they'd pioneered it. They pushed boundaries, and no one noticed. The Wings 2 screens are a total gimmick, but the pop out selfie cam to avoid a notch is sheer engineering brilliance, and the camera gimbal mode is incredible.

I was an HTC guy for years. Since about 2014 I've been dabbling in other brands. I currently have an lg g8x thinq with the dual screen option. Two screens is gimmicky, but it's awesome. I had an lg g5 and that think was an unreliable mess. The g3 was a great phone. My mom used one for years. And I even had one to you exclusive with Google cardboard.

This video tugged at m heart strings. LG G4 was my 2nd smartphone. After HTC EVO 4G. I used an LG G4 till it kicked the bucket then I used an LG V20 until it kicked the bucket. I had been using the LG V30 till earlier this year when I needed to give it up to a Family member who's phone died. So it was the end of the line for LG Smartphones for me, or so I thought.
I am currently as of the typing of this comment convinced that I have enjoyed the look of The LG Camera more than any other. So I will be buying another LG phone to have for photos and videos only. While My current smartphone with it's 5G functionality will be used for just that until I either get used to it's camera, or I just don't care anymore.
Again I enjoyed this video and I salute LG for sticking in a market that seemingly didn't want them.

Huge fan of LG here. Still rocking 10 year old LG 1080p 3D TV in the bedroom, and LG 4K OLED in the living room. Used LG G2 and G4 phones, but then moved over to Samsung S9+ currently.

My first experience with LG phones was rather recently, but it made me fall in love with them. It's actually the V20, as I'm a cheapskate when it comes to phones, but talk about kickass phone. The DAC and removable battery ensures it will be an awesome hifi music player even way after I retire it. I wish LG would've just scaled back on the models and doubled down on features like this, instead of shutting down everything, because they'd guarantee themselves sales with the people that care about them. At least since I stay far behind in phones I still have newer models to upgrade to, but it is worrying that I'll be getting old batteries that are no longer removable. If only I was as good with phones as I am computers.
(It was neat getting a behind the scenes look a little bit. I found this channel because this is one of the only channels that talks about older videocards and I used to dream of things like the 6800 with it's cute mermaid art... lame nvidia took down all the tech demos with females too sexy for our politically correct times)

2 of my longest serving smartphones were LG's. In both cases, the digitizer failed on them, forcing me to do a rushed replacement. LG smartphones are the reason I am now a proud iPhone owner :)

My close friend a few years back had a LG V10, I think it was like 2016, anyways it was a hella nice phone for the time, and amazing photo and video quality that blew apple’s 6s and even 7+ away in terms of camera, but sadly the phone bricked due to the boot loop problem that occurred often.

Ah well , Most of my old phones Still work to this day, albeit with some cracked screens and other drop related injuries if you will . Cheers.

Watching this on my brand new Unlocked LG V60 that i got for $400 (with the 2nd screen). I came from the Unlocked V40 which is still a awesome phone. It was only $200. To think, you can basically start a RUclips channel with a $200 LG V40. The G4 still takes better pictures than most phones today. Just to add for the LG enthusiast. I always went with LG except for the NOTE 3, and that was because my G2 got obliterated. Flew off my car at 50mph. Don't ask. After that, i wanted a phone that could take a hit. With LG, all of there new-ish (G6 and up / V10 and up) series phones have the MLT-STD 810G transit drop rating. That with a Otterbox case and you got an ARMY vet. The screenless Defender series for the LG V40 is still my favorite. I think its the only screenless defender they made. Other than that is the 32bit/384KHz ESS SABRE qDAC with a 2Vrms 3.5mm headphone jack and the ability to play basically any audio and video file out there thinks to the library of codecs LG put in. Also, with Hi-Fi audio recording and numerous settings, LG has a lot going for it. XDA even has ROOT for essentially all LG phones so Lineage (Android 12) is still possible for earlier LG phones. Qualcomm brings it all together with there 800 series SOC's. But there software update cycles were not great and mainly contributed to there ending. The LG V20 was the first phone with BAND 66 support thanks to Qualcomm and the first with Android 7 out of the box. Though, it was the last to get Android 8. I had the T-Mobile variant and it took 2 years and 9 months to get Android 8, which broke half the features. So, i moved to the fully Unlocked LG V40 (QA7) cause i thought the Updates would drop a little faster. NOPE.. The Unlocked version of the V40 (QA7) is the only version NOT to get the Android 10 update. That almost sealed the deal for me. I use 2sims and having 24 BANDs came in useful, so i kept the V40. Plus i got it brand new for $200 with a build date of Dec.2019. It was a replacement phone in overstock. The battery was new so i use it as my main driver today. Sometimes as a mobile hotspot for the V60. The Snapdragon 845 in the V40 has 4 ARM A75 HP cores clocked at 2.8GHz and 4 more A55's at 1.77GHz. The Adreno GPU is why i got the V40 then the V60. The Adreno 630 GPU has 512ALU's (cores) clocked at 710MHz and has a theoretical FP32 compute count of 737GFlops. In reality its more like 500GFlops, peaking at 615GFlops of FP32. The Adreno 650 in the SD865 has 1,024ALU's and is rated at about 1.2TFlops of FP32 compute. Yes, the Snapdragon's Adreno 650 GPU is rated at over 1 Teraflop of FP32 compute. If you would've told me i would have a 1 TFlops GPU in my smartphone, i would have not believed it. The Kirin 9000 SOC has 15.3 Billion transistors and ARM's own 2nd Gen Valhal Mali-G78 MP24 24core (128 EU's per core giving it 3,072 EU's) monster GPU rated at 2.3TFlops of FP32. That's actually available today. One main feature i did love about LG's phones, even the Unlocked V40, was MHL Micro USB / USB-c to HDMI out capabilities. That has been very useful for me through out my carrier. Wireless is great with phones like the ROG Phone 3 or 5 but require a special proprietary dock to even get close to direct connection, for zero lag. I think that's another reason LG kept a following. Wired Headphones. There phones that have the 2Vrms and ESS qDACs can push a pair of $800 650ohm Sennheiser's with no issues. I'm also a big audiophile, so you know i'm with LG. And will continue to be. I just picked up the LG V60 for a ludacris 50% off, and plan to us it for as long as it lasts. With a 5000mAh battery, i don't think that'll be a problem. Hope you guys enjoyed the read. Sorry for the auto-phonography. Just nice to see another LG'n out there, who appreciates there phones and products as much as i do.

I was a bit of an LG fan too, got a Viewty when they came out, then had the Optimus 7Q, Optimus L3, Optimus L3 II, Optimus G Pro, Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 5X, G4, G7 ThinQ and the V40 ThinQ. Kinda sad to see them go.

Wow, this video is how I learned this info due to not paying attention to smartphone news.
I got a LG G8 last year since it was half price on Amazon for a few days. It's been a great phone- I will definitely miss the crystal sound feature for calls because I have never had a phone with better clarity on phone calls than this one due to this feature. Great battery life and performance otherwise.

Great video Nathan, personally I really don't mind the "off topic" nature, still very enjoyable. I feel we get much more attached to the style and way the content is layed out than the content it's self. Although the original content is what brought me to get to know Pixel Pipes. As for LG, I owned the Nexus 5 made by them, and it was a superb smartphone. I would definitely own other LG smartphones if at the time they had the price advantage, I usually go for cheapest with the specs I want. It's a shame they are leaving the market, which doesn't have a lot of competition anyway and it's for sure going to be harmful for the consumer. The light joke, totally worth it haha. Great video, thanks for another one.

Yes a channel that finally understood something about Lg phones, they were WAYYYYY ahead of any phone with whatever they made, I remember my g3 having dual tab feature that didnt come out for 2 years in other phones. and my G7 god I miss it such a shame its battery died out, it was wayyyyyy better than my s22 5g that I have now which really shows you how much other phone brands are just overhyped crap

Im LG user as long as you have and writing this from their phone. They simply had to go. The software was never their strong side and what innovative features they had were either never implemented again in feature models or they were implemented in a basic way.
My next phone will be chinese since they look like they are on point. I used mid range Huawei? phone and was amazed by the features and quality. BTW i like the curve of the LG phoes they fit well in the front pocket of my jeans.

I really respected them especially for being the last ones to keep the removable battery, up till the v20 until the end of 2016. Sadly, it does not go into the favor of phone manufacturers for consumers to have a removable battery, as that means the phone will last longer and they will sell less, shame really. But the thing that destroyed them, as well as HTC and Sony was the snapdragon 810 from 2015, basically Qualcomm killed them.

Great video. Just like you, I fell in love with the G2. What a brilliant phone. One of my favourite phones ever, especially the design. Wish I'd kept it.
I then moved to the G4. Had no bootloop issues. This was also great, especially with a bigger battery and Android 7. Used it with LineageOS Android 9 for a while and that was great. Only upgraded to a new phone last year. The longest I've owned a phone for. Moved to a Xiaomi and really like it. Sadly not many recent LG phones have appealed to me

Quite frankly, it's a little sad seeing some companies either leaving the mobile phone space or being a shell of their former selves. Although I am not a fan of LG (for some odd reason they seemed to have questionable problems), I miss the days where I could go to a store and see all the countless selection of phones by various makes. It seems that we're getting further and further from those times for better or worse.

It really is a shame that the V20 was basically the last big phone from anyone with a removable battery. Not sure who all these people are that are going scuba diving with their phones or whatever, because you really can make them extremely thin and very water resistant even with a removable battery. Such a stupid new "feature".

I got all of those LG smartphone : GT540, 2X, Nexus 5, LG G2, LG G3 cat.6 (S805), Nexus 5X, LG G5 then I finally drop off because the quality wasn't here, I "downgraded" my G5 to a Xiaomi Mi note Pro first gen (S810) and I loved it, then I got a Pixel 1 and a Pixel 2 which were great but meh in size for my need. I recently hesitate to get an LG "dual screen" phone but I ended up with a good priced Note 8.
I think the bad reputation LG had with update back in 2010-2014 was a game breaker for a lot of people that ended up buying Samsung or Apple for their next smartphone.. Then LG launched the G4 and G5 which were not equivalent in build quality as Samsung offer, that's when LG was falling.

I will say though, I would not have bought an LG phone, if I had intended to use the Android skin.. granted when I jumped on the train was just around the time they started really locking down the bootloader, which was a real bummer cuz it wouldn't be for another year after I got a G8 that it would even be usable by anything other than the most basic standards.. I don't know if that's why LG failed in the phone business in the end, but they're brutally ridiculously garbage operating system package, definitely couldn't have helped.. especially if coming from a Samsung version of the same.. or especially if coming from a actual good version with an unlocked bootloader..
The hardware was top spec though for the price, and unlike Samsung's screens these still hold up really well for OLED.. you just got to go through that shenanigans of unlocking the bootloader and getting a proper OS on the phone.
