The strongest swordsman we’ve actually seen Mihawk fight was vista. During the war he wanted to test his strength against a weak WB and couldn’t even get it past vista. So even Mihawk wanks a weak WB. Mihawks only real comp in his era is shanks there was no other powerful swordsman left alive when Mihawk made his name. So there is even less evidence to say he is anywhere near the strongest.
Mihawk is pure speculation since he’s never been seen to fight an actual Yonko level opponent besides shanks, so no the older gen isn’t wanked, the series itself goes out of the way to make them appear almost untouchable by the younger guys.

I think the problem with these listed characters is they've never been properly defeated. Itachi got Kishimoto's disease and manufactured his own defeat, while Aizen did technically lose to a nebulously overpowered form of Ichigo he still frightens everyone in Soul Society as a dude in a chair and is definitely still a relevant power in TYBW, and then there's Shanks who'd would have to fight in the first place. As opposed to someone like Gojo whose loss has definitely chilled some of his... hyperbolic paritsans.

@kannan07 Because at the time, no one showed anything to their scale in power. After everyone's lost, it gave the impression that Aizen was invincible, "outsmarted" Kisuke, and made Getsuga useless. To this day, the only thing I want to know is how Isshin ever get the "final getsuga tenshou"?
Nevertheless, I am not even a Aizen fan, but even ichigo pointed out that Aizen wanted to lose. Getting slammed and slashed by Ichigo didn't diminish his intelligence. If anything, it would be poor writing for him to know ichigo's abilities without surveillance.

Shanks has one arm? Yes. But thatvjust means his sword style is modified to fight with one hand. Mihawk ended the beef because Shanks with his 1 handed style just isnt as strong as with his 2 handed style and his goals had changed since giving up that arm for luffy. Headcannon wise, shanks had always given mihawk the impression that he wanted to be the best Swordman just like him, similar to how Buggy thought Shanks would immediately go for the one piece. Shanks sacrificing his arm for success of the Future Joyboy as per Roger’s story signaled to mihawk that he and shanks no longer had the same goals so no point in the rivalry.

the real kicker is that itachi himself knew he was being glazed too much during his final battle Kabuto noted how itachi was above the rest of the uchiha clan because he could apparently read others and know what their thinking with itachi responding with " I'm being overestimated ultimately I failed". Then after he subdued kabuto Sasuke in a fit of rage question why itachi even cared to help kabuto find himself saying that itachi was perfect with itachi saying" I may have been a lot of things but I was never perfect". You can tell a character is being overhyped when the character himself even admits it
Unfortunately, that makes him more likely to be glazed. It’s actually in psychology that when someone of great power or status shows their flaws, or admits to them and makes themselves more human or more relatable, it naturally causes people to like them even more.

Itachi fanboys ruin him in a lot of ways. The fact that there are people out there who believe he stands a chance against anyone who is Pain and up is wild. They give him way too much credit, especially when they say stuff like how Itachi could have gotten more powerful. Listen, Itachi peaked when he was like 14. The guy had ninja AIDS and it was killing him. He's not perfect. All this dickriding can extend to most Uchiha characters with a name as well. Shisui is one of the most overhyped characters despite having zero relevance to the story and having a pretty pitiful demise. I'll even go as far as to say people dickride Madara way too much. People always love bringing up how he single handledly beat 1000 shinobi at once, I don't recall the number. But beating a bunch of no-names isn't all that impressive since I'm sure plenty of other characters could have done the same thing, and it doesn't showcase the strength of a ninja of his caliber.
Anyways, Itachi is cool, but these fans take it to the extreme, to the point of complete delusion and deliriousness. Jiraiya is a much better character than Itachi, yet he doesn't get nearly as much love. Jiraiya even died in a more screwed up way.

I also can't help but notice that a lot of these glazers are power-scalers, who actually think power-levels and "soloing" anything and everything automatically makes someone a better character (or show), rather than how well-written they are or how captivating their story is. It's hard to write over-powered characters without it feeling contrived or an asspull, and insanely powerful character can be terribly written a lot of the times.
Either way, an awesome video. Another example of a mindlessly and suffocatingly glazed character is Ryuga from the Beyblade Metal Saga

Is it really though? Like, what has Sukuna done that has been so outlandish and unexpected? Pretty much everything he's done has been something we have either seen him do before, something we could have inferred he could do from the info we already had access to, or an extension of something we have seen him do before.
None of it is some crazy asspull. The closest we got to that was when Gojo and Sukuna both kept doing shit nobody else could during their fight (like using Domain Amplification while also using a Domain, or switching up the conditions of their domains on the fly) and it got handwaved as "just Gojo/Sukuna things". But the rest has been fine.

Sesshomaru from Inuyasha should be on the list. Most fans did nothing but ride that character's popularity to the end even after the show ended. He was the most talked about anime character before Naruto came out with Itachi and Sesshomaru alone was a huge reason a lot of girls started getting into anime as a whole, and when he died, they were really angry to say the least. Aizen glaze is pretty justified imo , hell i'd go so far as to say he's underrated . despite the praise that he gets i still think that a huge portion of the anime/manga community tend to oversimplify and flanderise his character .
I agree with the last part, maybe that's my biggest problem with it. He gets devolved into "I plan a lot" rather than being calculated and attempting to reach new levels to challenge his own strength
I agree 100%. When you ask a lot of Aizen glazers what makes Aizen a good villain they'll usually just say "He planned Ichigo's entire life before he was born." No he didn't nor does he claim that he did. All he said was that he knew of Ichigo before he was born and he actually says that what happened was an accident but it was also an opportunity for him. He also doesn't plan everything down to the last detail, but plans a good amount and leaves enough room for him to adapt and I think that's smarter than planning everything down to the last detail. For example, he thought the Espada would take out the Gotei without him having to do anything, he was proven wrong but it was all good because he was able to use the opportunity they created to defeat the Gotei himself.
TL;DR: I think Aizen gets glazed for the wrong reasons and not many people see his entire character but just one or 2 aspects of it. Just my opinion though.
The shanks glazing is just a whole different level as the mfka showed 1 to 3 feats in a matter of a 1000 eps+ story…and one of those feats being the same one Roger used…and the rest being his haki on a fodder sea dragon and Admiral which is the most impressive thing he’s done (Bluetooth haki) so to glaze him makes no sense as he has less screen time than tenten and the rest about him is like a data book telling you a character’s powers and all but have yet to be seen😭 how do you glaze someone you know nothing about 😭

I think the Shanks glazing is only annoying because we don't really know the reason for his actions. Why was he able to speak with the Gorosei about Blackbeard? Idk. Why did he decide to look for the One Piece after Kaido and Big Mom got killed? Idk. But eventually we will. Hopefully. Admittedly, I also don't understand why people think he's that powerful. Mostly because he doesn't have the feats to prove if he's actually stronger than someone like Prime Whitebeard.
Also, as a residential JJK hater, I think everyone in that series gets glazed like no one else.
