    It’s just like you say. The aerodynamic beam allows for a more vertical path. Then it could be combined with a stiffer, more powerful frame and more open string pattern density.
    The Pure Drive Original, and Woofer gen, before the Team in early 2000s, were even flexier at 64-65ra. It made a more linear order. So then the Aero on the extreme side of power and spin would make sense. The most help from the frame. I believe it’s marketing that influenced

    Great review buddy. I just feel they nailed the Aero this time around and with so many of the young guns using the stick it has our attention and respect. On another point man I was surprised with the shift 18x20... now thinking it may be my blade pro 18x20 successor. I have a bunch of sticks you have not reviewed on the Wilson line if you want I can send them to you to review in the future.

      Thank you! I'm a fan of the pure aero series this go around as well! I think I made that pretty clear in my videos. I might pick the standard one just because I'm so bias towards the denser spacing but there are things to like about both which make picking tricky.
      Wow that is cool! I'm still getting to know the shift but I'm liking it a lot. Zero is still holding up in there all too well haha.
      That would be really cool of you and I appreciate the offer! However I pretty much have all access to most rackets especially current ones.
      What do you find about the shift that makes it challenge the blade?

    VS is Not Versus
    VS was the word Babolat started using their for their best gut string since from 80 years or so ago... Eventually they are similarly using VS for their top of the line special racquets compared to their regular counterparts... Aero, Drive, Strike....

    How does the Shift 300 compare with these rackets, the Vcore 98 and Pure Aero?
    Is the Shift a quality racket?

    • @time410s
      @time410s  Год назад

      Shift is very quality for sure. I hope that is still true for the official line up. I think they are being tighter on quality control so they get more consistent feedback on these pre-release rackets. I want to confirm this with somebody but it may be hard to do that.
      It's definitely closer to the spin levels of a pure error than vcore 98. Although it's feel might be somewhere in between. It's got it's own thing going on but those are interesting comparisons to bring in but I think my answer is pretty on point.

  • @hillwellford9637
    @hillwellford9637 Год назад +2

    The Pure Drive 98 is the most powerful 98, with the FX500 Tour from Dunlop a very close #2, according to Tennis Warehouse's tests, once adjusted for swingweight. In other words, if you string them identically and lead up all the 98s to the same swingweight, the PD98 and FX500 Tour return the most energy to the ball. But it's not by a huge amount: the Blade v6, Radical MP, Pure Strike 16x19, Boom Pro, and Ezone 98 are very close (basically, they are all tied for #3). And they are far from as powerful as the Pure Drive 100. The PD98 does have a very open 16x19 pattern, almost identical to the pattern of the Blade Pro 16x19 (H22) (my main current racket) or Solinco Whiteout (the latter of which is also pretty powerful), but it's a very different hitting experience because it feels stiffer. I had the same reaction as you: solid, spinny, powerful racket but not something that specifically enhances any one aspect of one's game. The power is greater but the control is lesser than the Blade Pro, Blade v6, or Whiteout. That tradeoff doesn't work for me but it probably does work for many people.

    • @time410s
      @time410s  Год назад

      Interesting points, thanks for sharing! I suppose the idea that it takes the edge off, as I say, of the pure drive 100 is the best way to put it maybe.
      Not entirely surprised the pure drive 98 is ranked as the most powerful. I might have guessed these on 98 is up there but they all seem pretty close then. I do feel I'm able to hit through the ball harder on the EZONE 98 but that probably has to do with other things making it seem more powerful than the Pure Drive 98 in stock form, which flops a little before I really get much power and drive from it.

    • @hillwellford9637
      @hillwellford9637 Год назад +1

      @@time410s Yes, so much is dependent on the sensation of control. The Ezone 98 is only about 2% less powerful than the PD98 depending on what part of the stringbed is tested, so if you feel more confident with the Ezone, you'll easily swing that much faster. And of course a well-placed shot at 98 mph would be better than an wild hit at 100 mph. Raw statistics are interesting, at least to me because I am a math nerd, but I fully admit that they don't translate well to playability.

    • @time410s
      @time410s  Год назад

      I think that's enough data you could make really great guesses and suggestions but you need to be able to assign numbers and graphs not only for the rackets and every variable of string and tension but something similar for the player and how they hit. But even then people are so subjective with what they like. Like how some days the same exact bracket can feel terrible for some reason a few days later. That doesn't really happen to me anymore but I remember sometimes it could.
      The numbers can get too in your head but so can anything, right? The human struggle, especially for those who overthink.

    • @time410s

      It's a few things and I mean to make a video on it. Extended length frames have weight taken out especially around the 3 and 9 area. So at net, volleys can seem really floppy.
      An EZONE 98 plus still tempts me just a bit but you essentially increase swingweight from length but actually get a less stable racket and at net that kind of just sucks. Baseline, you can make a case for either direction, positive or negative. That's more subjective.

    Why aren't you using your favorite string for this comparison, the restring zero. I found a similar 6 sided blue string on Tennis Warehouse called the Diadem Solstice Power. Could both strings be from the same manufacturer?

    • @time410s
      @time410s  Год назад +1

      I don't always string it up in the rackets I demo since my time with them might be short and I may not like the racket enough to consider switching. But, I know hyper G well enough that I can still be very objective about my observations.
      Also, I am not sure but I somewhat doubt it. Even if it is, though, there are several factories that make many different brands of strings and they generally are very secretive about the formulas and process between brands so that one brand can't just make another's string.
      That all being said, the Solstice Power is a decent string but for sure doesn't come anywhere close to the snapback Zero offers. It does seem on par with strings like Tour Bite and so on, however.

    • @time410s

      I'd say better. Absolutely. It actually holds tension extremely well and the fact it retains insane snapback characteristics throughout the entire lifespan of the string, the playability remains very predictable for a very long time.
      I've never really experienced anything like that and I've tried a TON of strings.

    • @time410s
      @time410s  Год назад

      That's another thing about restring, there's so much reduction in friction that the strings really don't eat into themselves. It's incredible what that formula achieves and it doubles the durability.

      To see things from the other side, I can imagine how difficult it is to manufacture rackets with great consistency and still pay everybody enough to do it and have money left over for ad campaigns and major sponsorship contracts such as for Nadal and so on. Yonex is an interesting case. Culturally they just have a high standard for quality control but they also probably reduce some costs by doing all of this in house.
      But in the end I do imagine making a Yonex frame costs more than making a babolat frame. Even though the prices for the consumer are relatively the same, the costs for the companies are pretty different.
