Lyrics:
When you're all alone
All the children grown
And, like starlings, flown away
It gets lonely early, doesn't it?
Lonely early, doesn't it?
Ev'ry single endless day
When your twilight nears
And one face appears
Turning winter years to May
It gets lonely early, doesn't it?
Lonely early, doesn't it?
Still the old heart's young enough to say
"It was really more than lovely, wasn't it?
"Truly lovely, wasn't it?"
Strings
Ev'ry single lovely day
Man In The Long Black Coat, Scarlet Town, My Own Version Of You, Ain't Talking - all these songs are dark and bitter, just like Tin Angel.
Perfect song for when you’re in the mood for a western movie but only have 10 minutes to spare.
wouldn't mind 20
Interesting story I listen to Bob's voice for comfort
Yes. There's a song for any mood or time.
Best murder ballad ever written...
..play, Murder Most Foul
The world's greatest storyteller 👌
Hello Dear, it’s nice meeting you on here
Now kiss
Amen 🙏🏽
"Blackjack Davey" is shot deep into this song's DNA, but Dylan spins and spins that old tune until it's something brilliantly new, and endlessly listenable. 9 minutes is a breeze with lyrics like this.
In this song he comprehensively demolishes the romanticism of the old folk song. "Man in the long black coat" was an earlier take on this.
Yes indeed
Dylan is good on Religion. Never let's "Facts" get in the way of the "Truth". --"Say high to the bad guy".
Love how he adapts his voice to the song.
Isn't he a master story teller ,🙏🙂❤️
Classic for the ages,
Enjoy future generations! (Yes, he was real)
The end result is me alone. I am glad
Master of words, master of music, thank you for all these countles gems🧡🧡you keep giving!!!
❤😂❤ he was a silly husband. I died not for your credit score
This Cowgirl Loves it...
What a story!!!!
What a rhythmic explosion in music, lyric and especially in singin' it ( about 9 min) really great how He puts the right phrasings ..He shows what an excellent singer he is, he holds the line , is precise as a clockwork....Bob Dylan needs only one chord to bring it to life
absolutely spooky
Mystic bob! The verses rolling through eternity.................
Hi there thanks a lot bob will be always our source
I am glad everyone is live how they want.
"The gun went boom, and the shot rang clear
First bullet grazed his ear
Second ball went right straight in
And he bent in the middle like a twisted pin"
Damn...
I'll have to hear this song again. Its a whole story!!! A tragedy? An epic?
Fantastic!
I'm gonna look for the lyrics to verify if the movie I made up in my mind has something to do with your genial musical work. Probably not. You're the genius. I'm just a great fan.😊
My take on it. The Boss = Satan, Old Henry Lee = Jesus and the lady = humanity. The lady (2 Co. 5:1) and Jesus will however rise and receive a new body and name (Rev. 2:17) The Boss has no future.
STABBED IN THE HEART
the master does it again
Brilliant song.
It's. Almost a Shakespeare song .perhaps a Romeo juliet theme. Killer. Dark.wow.its clever as hell
Never heard that one, love it!! 🎊
Hauntingly beautiful. 💖❤️💖❤️
New Shakespearean tragedy paint in a vodoo omeric ballad.
Has anyone ever written so many songs and told so many stories?
probly not
Bob is one in a trillion NO ONE has ever done what this gifted man has done in all of his musical life and still going strong with original lyrics and music he definitely is gifted I hope one day to meet him if not here on earth then the new heaven
What a delicious song! I am stonished how Bob know by heart a lyrics with almost thirty stanzas!"
I'd have given you the stars and the planets, too
But what good would these things do you?
Bow the heart if not the knee
Or never again this world you'll see"
........................
"Bow the heart"! My God... What a literary figure! Each day, more and more I love Bob Dylan.
....👍❗❣.... as older I get, as more I be grateful to know him❗❣

Such a great song ... somehow I think ... it could also be a kind of cover version of one of the Hits of one of Zimmermann's teachers, Woody Guthrie ... Thank you so much for sharing ... Although I have also this great album ... I have had forgotten this great song ...
🕊💙🕊un texte brillant ✨ écrit avec finesse…..🕊
**good dylan liner notes in these comments **
Bob Dylan either you like him or you love them I love them
He will not going to change. I ignore people like that
I opened a trap door in my mind. To leave nothing behind
95% of artists don't have as good as work as Dylan's 2001- Present Day Output
Omg🙈
❤
I know he gone away and we don't speak of him anymore.
Bye is a good approach response to from me to this man. I don't like violence but I understand it's important for a male. Loyalty is to true friends now. My heart is still beating. Some time when you run away you can hear your heart beat in your ear sir.
Thing about is.... that nobody makes a damned tin angel out of me and gets away with it.
He denied his faith, he renounced his lord
Is there no limit?
Nice
I like have the sun and moon lights in my life
I think he reached your his body count still higher
Never understand his your enemy
Three lover hum what year.
I'd have given you the stars and the planets too
But what good would these things do you?
Husband? What Husband? What the hell do you mean?
How killed how. It not on thier earth records. I know one at a time. Really don't swing like them.
Wow
"Tin Angel" was interesting, but I prefer "Thunder on the Mountain." ♥️ 💋 ♥️
I'm curious if Dylan was able to sing as good as he does now during this Tempist period. As if using this hoarse gravelly voice was a choice. I'll have to ask the next time I see him.
If you get an answer, let me know; I've got a few questions too.
I think that voice is the product of age+he wanted to sound like that+possibly cigarettes
@@ralphdavis9670
...ne too 💞🤩❣
“they say whiskey will kill ya but I don’t think it will”… but that and chain smoking for decades will surely mess up your voice . Took the top end right off of it . I’ve heard he’s given both up hence a return to a listenable Dylan.
@@classygary wow, really? I've oft wondered bout that. He's still performing a grueling schedule and, am I wrong? He's 83? If I'm incorrect I apologize. But he is getting older and still shames lesser men. What a blessing he I'd to all of us. Never sounds bad to me haha but he's so bad ass I can't get over it.

It was late last night when the boss came home
To a deserted mansion and a desolate throne
Servant said: "Boss, the lady's gone
She left this morning just 'fore dawn."
"You got something to tell me, tell it to me, man
Come to the point as straight as you can"
"Old Henry Lee, chief of the clan
Came riding through the woods and took her by the hand"
The boss he lay back flat on his bed
He cursed the heat and he clutched his head
He pondered the future of his fate
To wait another day would be far too late
"Go fetch me my coat and my tie
And the cheapest labor that money can buy
Saddle me up my buckskin mare
If you see me go by, put up a prayer"
Well, they rode all night, and they rode all day
Eastward, long down the broad highway
His spirit was tired and his vision was bent
His men deserted him and onward he went
He came to a place where the light was dull
His forehead pounding in his skull
Heavy heart was racked with pain
Insomnia raging in his brain
Well, he threw down his helmet and his cross-handled sword
He renounced his faith, he denied his Lord
Crawled on his belly, put his ear to the wall
One way or another put an end to it all
He leaned down, cut the electric wire
Stared into the flames and he snorted the fire
Peered through the darkness, caught a glimpse of the two
It was hard to tell for certain who was who
He lowered himself down on a golden chain
His nerves were quaking in every vein
His knuckles were bloody, he sucked in the air
He ran his fingers through his greasy hair
They looked at each other and their glasses clinked
One single unit, inseparably linked
"Got a strange premonition there's a man close by"
"Don't worry about him, he wouldn't harm a fly"
From behind the curtain, the boss he crossed the floor
He moved his feet and he bolted the door
Shadows hiding the lines in his face
With all the nobility of an ancient race
She turned, she was startled with a look of surprise
With a hatred that could hit the skies
"You're a reckless fool, I could see it in your eyes
To come this way was by no means wise"
"Get up, stand up, you greedy-lipped wench
And cover your face or suffer the consequence
You are making my heart feel sick
Put your clothes back on, double-quick"
"Silly boy, you think me a saint
I'll listen no more to your words of complaint
You've given me nothing but the sweetest lies
Now hold your tongue and feed your eyes"
"I'd have given you the stars and the planets, too
But what good would these things do you?
Bow the heart if not the knee
Or never again this world you'll see"
"Oh, please let not your heart be cold
This man is dearer to me than gold"
"Oh, my dear, you must be blind
He's a gutless ape with a worthless mind"
"You've had your way too long with me
Now it's me who'll determine how things shall be"
"Try to escape, " he cussed and cursed
'You'll have to try to get past me first"
"Do not let your passion rule
You think my heart the heart of a fool
And you, sir, you can not deny
You made a monkey of me, what and for why?"
"I'll have no more of this insulting chat
The devil can have you, I'll see to that
Look sharp or step aside
Or in the cradle you'll wish you'd died"
The gun went boom and the shot rang clear
First bullet grazed his ear
Second ball went right straight in
And he bent in the middle like a twisted pin
He crawled to the corner and he lowered his head
He gripped the chair and he grabbed the bed
It would take more than needle and thread
Bleeding from the mouth, he's as good as dead
"You shot my husband down, you fiend"
"Husband? What husband? What the hell do you mean?
He was a man of strife, a man of sin
I cut him down and I threw him to the wind"
This she said with angry breath
"You too shall meet the lord of death
It was I who brought your soul to life"
Then she raised her robe and she drew out a knife
His face was hard and caked with sweat
His arms ached and his hands were wet
"You're a murderous queen and a bloody wife
If you don't mind, I'll have the knife"
"We're two of a kind and our blood runs hot
But we're no way similar in body or thought
All husbands are good men, as all wives know"
Then she pierced him to the heart and his blood did flow
His knees went limp and he reached for the door
His tomb was sealed, he slid to the floor
He whispered in her ear: "This is all your fault
My fighting days have come to a halt"
She touched his lips and kissed his cheek
He tried to speak but his breath was weak
"You died for me, now I'll die for you"
She put the blade to her heart and she ran it through
All three lovers together in a heap
Thrown into the grave, forever to sleep
Funeral torches blazed away
Through the towns and the villages all night and all day

Thanks 😁 😊
How committed a crime. I just dream forever with my eyes open. I see the look in people face. The look of disgust and surprise. Oh you can writing. They never say anything about working hard. They never say you worked long then people are shouting at each other in the street. They never look at the processes. Some people wanted to help for thier own glory and some work at it. The reason I will succeed is work. The other kind is never obtained by the sward. I don't want to marriage anymore. Not because they wanted. I want justice more. Good man. A good man is like looking for a needle in a hay stack.
Face it.
Would he?
