- We are driving, accelerating and looking at the Hyundai i20 N Performance. This small hot hatch is about what the Fiesta ST would have been if it had four cylinders. Hyundai comes along with a classic 1.6 litre turbo engine which develops 204 hp and 275 nm of torque. When in overboost its getting an extra seven-second-load of 30 nm. With a curb weight of 1190 kg it's not as heavy as the Fiesta ST and its front differential (performance package only) works as just good. Equipped with 215/40 R18 Pirelli tyres, the i 20N offers more stability than the Fiesta ST. Nevertheless it doesn't feel as spectacular.
The sound and performance of the Hyundai is brilliant. We achieved 1.1 g apex in typical corners under dry conditions, which is great for a car like this. A perfect car for the daily use of a sporty driver. It feels fast and, in corners, it really is. The rev match works perfectly, but, to our surprise, the gear brake feels very hard. The tranny is a lot of fun to shift, the engine offers a lot of torque very early and the front differential works perfectly. Even the rear axle is stiff enough to raise a leg at the back. Well done, Hyundai.
The bad things about the i20 N Performance are its brakes (better change to clubsport aftermarket) and the fact that it somehow copies the digital cockpit from Volkswagen. On the other side the Koreans made it a bit more modern and it looks even as good as in a german hot hatch. Another problem is the rear diffuser and the rear spoiler: both look cheap and don't really fit in.
We recommend this car for the ones who want to combine five doors with a lot of fun. In the three-door-section, the Fiesta ST is the catch.

This is probably the best FPV driving footage of this car on youtube. Nice
Thank you David! We are very happy you enjoy our content. 🔥😊
Brilliant video, thoroughly enjoyed it and, WHAT A CAR!
So fast 😍😍😍😍😍
Perfection.
6.7 in the wet, that’s impressive
A guy from Turkiye got 5.7 in good conditions, ofc the shifting affects the time but none the less this car is a small beast.
@@et4633 I saw somewhere a dude with an even better figure
Hi nice vidéo
What about chemical smell ?
What do you mean about heavy brakes ?
If you really wanna go with it, you should upgrade to quality aftermarket discs and ferodo ds performance or ds 2500 pads.
The smell was ok, still a bit chemical indeed. But way better than in older Kias and Hyundais.
Hi i want buying a n car but dont now wat car a i30n facelift or this i20 n i driving around 25000 km a year this i 20n fuell consumption is around 7 liter /100 the i 30 n around hyundai says 8 l/100 but i nog some frends say its around 9 or 10l / 100 wat you thinking?
Our ideas: 8.5 litres for the i20 N, 10 litres for the i30 N. It is possible to drive calm and reach the fuel consumption manufacturers claim but these cars are made to have fun, not to save fuel with. It also depends on where you live: 7 litres in Holland is easy, 7 litres in Swiss is impossible.
@@carbittv i live in belgium
@@lucabeels9840 Belgium is very flat and not urban at all. So 7 litres should be enough when daily driving it. 10 at the weekends. We recommend to drive any car like this with 100 ROZ+ to save some money. It's more efficient (lower consumption) and it saves you from a lot of problems in long term use.
How you did the pops and bang at 3:42?
My i20n don’t pops so often
I think it need's to be warm and be in track mode.
@@et4633 You need to use track mode and find the rpm where it usually pops (somewhere around 3500-4000 rpm). Then you only repeat touching the pedal and take the foot back while going downhill. So the engine will run in and out gear brake over and over again. While going downhill in 2nd gear you should get the same result. ;-) Works with every car whether turbo or not. You just need to find the rpm and have an exhaust which pops a bit. Transmission and flywheel don't like this so much, so don't do it every day. ;-)
2:12 what is a race license?
In Germany DMSB license.
In the middle of a 3-4 month wait for mine. It’s hard! I just want to play with it! 🤗🥺
Me it's 10 december, i cant wait for it 😫😫😫
@@Riokhu Yeah, I’m sure it will be worth it but damn it’s hard waiting 😂 I’ve watched way too many RUclips videos about the car already.
@@i20nScot same for me, im suffering so hard 😂

can actually go 0-100 quicker than that
This is in the wet tbf
6.2s 0-100
It is 0-60 and it is measured by GPS. Do you really think manufacturers are wrong? Hyundai says 6.7 although 6.2 would have been a better marketing. Why should they do this?
@@carbittv Hyundai corrected it it’s 6.2s 0-62
Just looked it up in EU: They say 6.2. Germany says 6.7. So one of these times must be wrong or there is a technical difference concerning waste gas purification.
We asked Hyundai Germany about this strange situation and will come back to you as soon as we get a reply. Thank you for the information.
@@carbittv thanks for your reply 🖤
This is an unnecessary power equipped with a two star safety car.
Did you use Google translate? I can't make sense of your language.
I hope the owners of these enjoy looking at the back of the GR Yaris - that's the only angle of itl they will see has it dissapear's into the distance!
For such a small light car, the I20 sure is slow to 60!
My uncle has a GR Yaris. It’s a great drivers car but this is more practical and has more equipment. For a daily driver hot hatch this is a great car.
The gr is 4wd and over 10k more to buy, even trying to compare them is frankly pathetic. The car this is competing with is the fiesta st and the polo gti class.
@@axeami1354 You're perfectly right.
GR Yaris owners will be busy looking at the back of RS3's. While we're at it, why not just skip to the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+?
@@Tribulation88 don't think so - the Audi owner will be left wondering how a Toyota costing half that of an RS3 can get away from it 😃
