    The thing at the 7:05 isn't rev hang, it's something only Hyundai does on factory cars and it's there to allow you to do no-lift shifting. Surprised no one picked up on that... Rev hang is when the rpm takes ages to go down, not it spiking up

      What you mean is flat foot shifting. But it doesn't/shouldn't work if you don't have full throttle and keeping the pedal to the metal. It usually not works with partial throttle. This car behaves the same as my Focus ST did but i tuned revhang out. Flat foot is fun tho.

      @@ksawiprod9140 It's there to pass EURO6 emission test. If the revs dont drop and engine revmatches on its own you reduce some pollution. Euro commission or what it's called make those laws here. Not a thing for USA.

    So let me get this straight. Renault with a history of over 30 years of making hot hatches and had the Clio RS Trophy axed the the whole Renault Sport brand/division to make electic cars. And the koreans at Hyundai started making hot hatches with the same recepie as Renault Sport. Man this are wied times to live in 😅😳

    Ik kan niet wachten tot ik de mijne heb! Augustus besteld via Duitsland (Hyundai Nederland levert geen N modellen meer, de Hyundai dealer in Hilversum haalt ze nog wel via Duitsland), en rond de jaarwisseling zou de mijne hier moeten zijn. Deze filmpjes maken me nog ongeduldiger :P

      @@nickvlaanderen Helaas nog niet. Ik zie ook al verschillende Duitsers die hun auto ook nog niet hebben en al wel eerder hebben besteld dan mij. Maar ook een paar die hem sindskort al wel hebben, gelukkig.
      Ik wacht geduldig af, de meeste autofabrikanten hebben momenteel lange levertijden, en dat is bij Hyundai niet anders.

      @@doncornetto volkwagon put the golf gti engine into the newer generation polo gti with it being tuned down a bit of course, shame the i20N doesnt come in auto or it would definetly be the next car, I've grown out of manual too much messing about when you're used to being stopped by traffic lights

      @@thomas1x635 I dont know what you mean with “grow out” of manual cars. In europe the only people driving auto are women and rich old people. I literally havent changed any transmission component in my 9 year old daily driver because manual is more reliable than automatic. Its really just a skill issue americans have, same as not being able to park lmao.

    The rev throttle hold is to make sure that u don't loose power btwn gears.. almost like flat foot shift

      This strategy is used because it was found that suddenly closing the throttle produced a sudden spike in gas pressure within the crankcase which emphasised the rate of oil vaporisation, thus adding to emissions from the engine. Also, when the throttle is suddenly shut, the fuel mixture suddenly becomes lean which creates NOx (oxides of Nitrogen) which also contributes to emissions.

    The strange thing you talk about which goes off the throttle late is the “double clutching” i think. The system automatically blips the throttle after you release it for a smoother upshift. Think of it as rev matching but only here you go up a gear instead of going one down.

      And I think you can cancel that auto blip of the throttle, by switching the rev matching off.

    the perfect car i bought the 100hp version a few months ago but if i could go back i would go for this one, even the 100hp version has insane grip and agility

    They deserve to have a round 240hp and 340nm or whatever, it's a great chassis. A new gen 1600 turbo is needed imo. Stock car power needs a bump in 2023 imo.

    the "over-revving" issue can changed, there is a setting for the revmatching. I had the same in my i30N and it also bothered me, it happened every time I shift from 1 to 2nd gear it went to max revs. A bit weird when you drive in the city in traffic everyone thinking you are driving like a maniac. In the other setting it only changes the revs with downshifts.

    It has an electric throttle body, that's why it revs even after you release the gas.

      Rubbish it's to cheat the euro emissions rules loads of the cars do that to pass it, even a suzuki swift 1.6 sport has it again to beat the euro emissions at the time

    7:05 Its called Revhang and i think the main purpose of it is so the car can pass the EURO6 test. It feels like something gives the car a little push everytime you shift. Really weird feeling. I know because i previosly owned a Ford Focus ST but tuned it out when i went Stage 3.

      @@dodoz44 It probably causes a little wear but it shouldn't make or break the car. Incorrect shifts kills it alot faster and people does it all the time and their car is still alive.

      Its not rev hang. Rev hang means the rpms take longer to go down, not if the revs go up. I think in this car its to enable flat foot shifting but im not sure

      @@danielzwanink7714 I'm 99% sure it's revhang. My previous car did exactly the same and flat foot usually requires pedal to the metal to work. What you see when the rpms go up is that the engine is revmatching on its own since engine and gear box have a synchro these days.

      It's not rev hang. You literally can see the needle jump up as he shifts a little and then fall down quickly. If it was rev hang the needle would float for a bit before dropping down with each shift. When he shifts it falls down almost instantaneously.

      i test drove both yesterday and the hyundai was miles ahead of the fiesta so i ordered one, no regrets whatsoever.

      Taking that they're both small agile cars I'd be happy with either. Though I like the design better on the Fiesta the i20N interior is gorgeous and it's a 4-door, I'd also have it over the Fiesta.

      My i20n can get 62mph/100kph in 2nd gear, 6.7 sec but in real world driving pointless as this is just a statistic.

    How is this working with the warranty? Also it looks nice, but usually if you just remap without making some parts stronger than you could kill your engine faster. So what i mean how safe is this in a long term do you have any data for that? As it sounds good but if i can throw out my i20n after a year than it is not worth.

    Do we know when this will released and accepting orders at racechip? I am running my i20N two weeks now, very nice car! Noticed that with 98RON engine is more responsive, a bit more low mid range torque and reving better ...

      @@tmeisenmann3285 Since I was lucky enough to have driven a number of BMW cars ... and I had on my garage Impreza WRX STi MY03, WRX STi MY07 Prodrive and WRX STi MY09, I would say that i20N is WAY MUCH CLOSER to these cars than any M related. Sorry but this is the reality. I dont really know what Mr. Albert Biermann did when at M-div but well done to him and team at N for the i20N which seems a step further to i30N

    The reason to why it's keep reving after the clutch is engaged is something called a Throttle Flare and can be fixed with a software, my i10 did the same.

      Nothing is broken, its a great function to make a car stable during gear reduction on high speed. Its more important in RWD cars though.

      @@m4ciekw So you're saying that waiting 2 seconds inbetween every gear change for the rev counter to match the next gear is an advantage? The software update my mechanic and others have found and installed works by telling the sensors in the intake manifold to stop sending that specific load data, which makes the rev's flare up when the clutch is engaged. I agree, it would be smart for downshift, but not upshift, when acceleration is needed.

      This strategy is used because it was found that suddenly closing the throttle produced a sudden spike in gas pressure within the crankcase which emphasised the rate of oil vaporisation, thus adding to emissions from the engine. Also, when the throttle is suddenly shut, the fuel mixture suddenly becomes lean which creates NOx (oxides of Nitrogen) which also contributes to emissions.

    I've got a Hyundai i20N coming in a few weeks and the race chip upgrade looks tempting however, being a Hyundai it has a 5 year warranty which I don't really want to void and also have reliability concerns.
    Being removable I'm guessing by doing so it becomes undetectable when I take the car in for service?
    Also would I need to upgrade the cooling at all for long term use in sports or race modes? Again because if I do it would invalidate the warranty etc.
    I want the gains but without the worry of an engine blow out etc.....

    Other reviewers have also noted the revs not dying between gear shifts , running on. So it seems not a one off and not connected to the race chip.
    It is weird why it does that

    For the facelift this car needs 30hp more with 100-200 at about 15-16 sec and 4 piston caliper brakes like on Yaris, then it would be a no brainer.

      @@MrSimon1909 You need to compare like for like. The i20N comes with almost everything as standard, there are no trim levels to choose from and there are only 3 optional extras (special paints, gloss black roof and/or Bose sound system). The Fiesta ST has multiple trim levels and options, so for example the cheapest version of the ST is quite poorly equipped and doesn’t include a limited slip diff etc. Once you compare like for like the price is very similar in the UK at least. If there’s still a significant difference in Austria then it’s probably worth going for the cheaper car since both are good choices.

      No. Your only options are to spec a red car in which case the red trim becomes grey or to get the red trim wrapped or repainted by a third party.
