Being an adventurer when I was younger, I would have loved visiting Alaska (even in winter). Now that I am older, not so much.

I see a lot of really old people on trips up here, some can't even walk, but they do it. 😉 I understand though, that's part of the reason I have the channel. I love to watch others from around the world, because there are many places I am curious about but will never go.🥰

I jumped a mile off my seat when I heard you yell & was so afraid one of you went down!!
Thank goodness all was ok ✅
I would have reacted like that too 😂
Very pretty areas you have up there , so sorry about all those mosquitos 🦟 hope the itching isn’t too bad? My hubby says they’re the size that I would have never seen !!!
We went to Costco yesterday as well, would have been $373.50 BEFORE the $30.00 tax (ugh)
Hope you are having a good week so far & we continue with our Alaskan Bears obsession!

Hi Judy! Thank you, I get most of my readers from Hallmark stores. You can never have too many, LOL. I like the styles there. 🤣 I never seen a squirrel move that fast without taking a look back, I was waiting to see something chasing it! The mid summer mosquitoes are not as big as the spring ones, but yes, I am from mosquito haven Michigan and never seen them as big as here 😱 I try to not get bitten because they cause welts, I am allergic. Thankfully I got after them and they were gone in almost a weeks time. Oh gosh, that tax, see if we had tax I would be looking after things, that's a lot! We are hoping to have a chill week after walking almost 10 miles every day last week, thank you. I hope you have an amazing week 🥰

Fireweed is pretty, but it is an invasive plant where I live. I remember in the early 2000's they were trying to get rid of it. It was growing profusely at the roadsides of the Keweenaw Peninsula of MI. (After watching Alaska vlogs, I now know what it is and where it comes from).

    • @AlaskanBearsVlogs
      @AlaskanBearsVlogs  Месяц назад

That's interesting, it sure does make it's rounds here, but some years it's not as plentiful as others. It's very tasty and medicinal though. We make all kinds of products from it.

it is very pretty back there, but don't go back there without bug spray. No racoons here, thank goodness. I had a horrible time with them in Michigan, always raiding camps. Ha, Mary is always afraid I will drop the camera, I guess this proves I have a pretty good hold of it 😉

I had to look up the regions and in the east it only grows in the Appalachian Mountains from North Carolina to Tennessee. But it is widespread through Canada, Alaska and the upper Western states.

I have bought that same organic peanut butter from costco and it was very thin and runny. My wife suggested putting it in the refrigerator and that thickened it up quite nicely. Maybe too firm but it is better than being runny. May try that tip.

That is a park I would spend time in. It was no where are beautiful then as it is now. It was little better than a field with a couple of Benches. The Cabin that 'Dianne' lived in was closed back in the 80s. We were told it was private property. You get to look into it now? Mary, like so many other homes and houses in Fairbanks and North Pole, few people spend the money and took the time to remove old wall paper. They simply put more layers on one and another. I can imagine how old the old wall paper is. The 'gunshot theory' is what we were told Mary as to the Doors in the front and rear of the house. I wish we had the C117 globemaster when I was there versus the C130 Hercules. Fairbanks looks so beautiful. Its not hot here but humid, not so unlike Atlanta. Have a wonderful day Ladies.

The Wedgewood Preserve and Wander Lake are gorgeous, I am so happy they are fixing it up. That cabin has been sitting a long time, I think they were waiting for it to be on the historical registry before opening it to the public, that way they cold have a ranger man it. Someone was there but they were going back and forth between that and the Nat Geo gift store in the cultural center. Fun that you know the house. My Mom changed wallpaper in her bedroom quite often, because it was the old paper and glue wallpaper, she never took the old paper down. I think they do trainings daily in that Globemaster, I hear it all the time. So how is the weather there in November? You have a good week!

@@AlaskanBearsVlogs in November? It will still be warm here but not as humid. You will have snow on the ground. Sherry was telling me that they're going through Fairbanks and doing a lot of modernizing while tearing down a lot of the old buildings that are no longer safe. Fairbanks was once a very different place Mary. I'm on vacation for two more weeks so not having a lot to do is a good thing for now. But I'm looking forward to the start of the next school year. Good morning Bears 🐻
58° degrees here would be considered “cold” for us. LOL
I want to say that door on the electrical box might be a home owners access? Not sure, but you may want to ask about that.
Do you have your cable internet going into the house there? I remember when we first got cable TV back in 1982 in University West, it was a big deal. Everyone wanted to come over to watch MTV, that was all the rage back then, amongst all of the other cable TV channels.
Those ducks were having fun. The Rivers Edge Resort is new, that wasn’t there back in the day. Looks nice.
Whats the latest on the Polaris building, are they any closer to getting it torn down? Any updates on what might go there?
The historic cabin is new as well.
I hope the rain is helping with the forest fires. Any update on those?
The fire department was probably doing water rescue training.
We had the jail at a relatives wedding.
I don’t remember if the wildlife sanctuary was there or not. Looks like a nice hiking trail.
    Squirrel! 🐿️ 😂
    Those mosquitoes are terrible.
You stopped at Costco for one thing but ended up with more things, it happens all the time with me as well. Don’t feel bad. I was there earlier today and got a chicken as well.
Those dogs sure are spoiled, look at all those toys. 😀
    The lawn looks great.
Ok, sorry for 20 questions and to ramble on. Have a great week. 😊 ❤️

Hello, hello! 58° is actually nice to sleep to. I use to turn the temp down in the house at night, but it was to hard for the house to come back up to temp in the morning, sounded tough on the furnace. That is my access to the main breaker for the meter/whole house. I would feel better with a lock on that. We have cable internet, yes, I quit cable tv soon after moving in the house though, because we rarely watch TV. It is unbelievable expensive! Cable TV came to us in 1982 too! I remember the first thing I saw on MTV was "Fish Heads" by Barnes & Barnes, I was determined that all people were crazy. I had just started my engineering job. River's Edge is fairly new, I had a hard time finding the history before. The Polaris Building is empty, they will start dismantling it soon. No word if they have buyers for the property. The Big fire near Delta is still burning, it hasn't grown in size in a couple of weeks due to rain, but they are monitoring it. You what? Had the jail at a wedding! That sounds like fun! It sounds like Wander lake has been there a very long time. Gotta watch out for those killer squirrels and blood sucking mosquitoes though 🤣🤣 Oh gosh, Costco, dogs and grown children, I can go on for days too, LOL, Thank you, you have a great week also 🥰
