15:08 That's a V-22 Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft used by the Marine Corps and Air Force. It's got an infamous crash (51 fatalities) record, but so cool to see! Never seen one in real life, that's a rare sight IMO. Oh yeah, early Misfits rule!
My wife and I were down by the beach yesterday and saw the Osprey fly by. I had to tell her what it was. I'm an Army veteran, and the Osprey is mainly a Marine Corps aircraft, but I still recognized it on sight. It certainly got people's attention! Been listening to The Misfits for over thirty years now! Happy Halloween.
Pretty Cool and Informative, my friend. Can definitely relate to these old memories. Grew up on all those. '82, I was 8 years old. Uncle Kevin would introduce me to new singers and bands in that area back then. He lived just outside L.A. back then. From Indiana, dad and I would visit out there once a year. Looked foraward to seeing Palm Trees. Was always ready to see new underground bands back then, Joy Division had actually been around a while before their worldwide popularity. Wish we would have had cell phones and internet at the time. But, it is what it is, ya know. Enjoy the moment. Live in the now.
I recently saw The Misfits 2 weeks ago at the Prudential Center in NJ. I was shocked at how well Danzig voice is at 68. They played a great set. Would definitely go back next year to see them again.
@johncoker13 I thought for sure Fear was going to play just before the Misfits went on. That was my ignorance to the large following of the Gas Light Anthem.
Another cool video! Thank you Michael and Jessica for walking history. Walking around Hollywood must be cool as hell. Except when it's 100 degrees, but thank you for your sacrifice Michael. I love when you do videos like this because you show us the little known history of places many of us will never see. Thank you, when you post videos it is usually the highlight of my day!
This was amazing! I've been such a fan of the Misfits since i was kid. I've been slowly rebuilding my childhood record collection which included many of the original Misfits and Samhain records. I still feel stupid for selling off my original collection when I was in college. lol!
Yeah man I sold alot of my old punk, industrial, metal cds when I was younger now I'm currently buying them all back off discogs and ebay I've always loved physical media rather then streaming and usually cds are super cheap nowadays so why not
Why yall don't have an actual show on cable tv is mind-blowing, you are truly charismatic and talented as a story teller and entertainer, love when you do Hollywood episodes, for about 8 months I lived on Hollywood and Sunset as a starving street musician, it was some of the most fun and care free I've ever had, but I do love live in the Appalachian mountains and being a mountain man nomad and athletic bodybuilder and life coach
Another great video! Towards the end, I believe that was a CV-22 Osprey (military aircraft). We see them frequently here in southeastern NC due to the fact that we are not too far from a large military base. Until your next one... cheers!
Been listening to Misfits since my teen years. I go back so long I have most of their albums on cassette, not CD. I bought my first Misfits tape at Lovell's Records in Whittier, back in 1992. The store is still there today. I'd seen some guy with the T-shirt "Mommy, Can I Go Out and Kill Tonight?" and had to hear that! Earth A.D. was my first one, because I thought the cover was so gnarly looking, and that song was on it. Decomposing bodies all in a pile. I put the tape on my friend's stereo and I couldn't believe how raw it sounded! So much feedback, distortion, and speed, but Glenn Danzig's Elvis/Jim Morrison vocals were recognizable. I was an instant fan. All of these years later my niece is really into them. It's too bad I missed their gig in Phoenix last weekend, but my brother took her and braved the triple digit heat (in black clothing and makeup) to see them. Looks like a great performance, but I know the RUclips videos don't give them justice! As always, Happy Halloween.
Thank you for this video!!! This brings old memories. I grew up on Melrose Ave. I remember "Vinyl Fetish" on Melrose Ave, they were supposed to be like goth and alternative. I remember Soft Cell appearing there too. They only signed autographs, they never performed. I also remember "Poseur" it was a punk rock clothing store a few blocks down. And the Anti Club down the street. Rodney on the Roq always talked about these places back in the early 80s.
The owner of Poseur moved just sold a bunch of his personal record collection to rockaway records. I was very lucky and was there when they first got put out and got first dibs on some super sick original UK and US punk singles.
Anytime I see a record store I get happy, because streaming is just not magical like vinyl!! Plus I miss album cover and liner art. Another awesome tour guided by your knowledge of history and awesomeness!!👍🙏🏽🎃🐈⬛🥳
That aircraft near the end of the video is an Osprey. Really cool military craft. They train alot down in the San Diego bay area and around LA. Great video as always! We are 138!
This is one of the coolest things you've ever done!! Now I'm gonna buy you guys 2 beers if I ever get the chance! Huge Misfits fan brother... Thank you for doing this video. God bless you both!
Matchless match-ups! Mr. Grimm, you are TOP TIER! 8:35 THANK YOU FOR DOING YOUR HOMEWORK! You brought our childhood roaring back to life: Dad took us into Jay Ward's office wa-ay back in the early '60s. THAT WAS THE PLACE! There it was, the original Moose and Squirrel statue site, once upon a time. And you provided an apex anecdote, too! Painting that statue to match the revolving bathing beauty atop the Sunset Blvd. billboard was SO like that squad of comedy 🥜🥜🥜🥜🥜🥜🥜🥜. That story HAS to be accurate! All this, and a trek up the hill to take in the mega-point font at the summit of Mt. Lee? In 100+ degree temps?! You are, without question, an HONORARY ANGELENO! 😌😌
@@grimmlifecollective I'm in ENGLAND, so this TRULY is a blast from the past. You and your Baby Ghoul seriously rock: authenticity and elegance for the win. As an October-born-and-bred Angeleno, I wish you both the: HAPPIEST Hallowe'en! 🎃🎃👻👻🐈⬛🐈⬛🪄🪄🧹🧹
❤Michael, Great Record Store! Wonderful Collections And History And Fab Vampira Photos! Great Shot line Ups And Beautiful Area Around The Hollywood sign.L❤ve You!❤
Really cool vid! We've toured a couple times with Doyle (last year and this year) . He's a super awesome guy with a great sense of humor and puts on a hell of a show. Our driver/merch guy ended up getting hired to help them unload back in NJ after the tour last year, and he got to see "Misfits HQ" up close and personal. He said it was like a museum with more than 40 years worth of Misfits stuff in there.
An awesome video! The way I was introduced to this band was third WCW in the late '90s early 2000 when they came out with vampiro and going after sting and the kiss wrestler the demon. That's how I was introduced to the misfits One of their members now works for WWE. Corey Graves
Awesome vid!! I really like the art work on that live Misfits album...I've seen the Misfits live like 3 times... met Jerry Only twice. Nice guy..... really big dude! lol him and his brother Doyle. This was a great vid! love anything Misfits. Fiend for life!!
I love this video! I lived in Hollywood from 77' to 88' and everything in your video was every day for me. I bought many records at Vinyl Fetish, I smoked weed under the Hollywood sign under the "OD", hung on Melrose, did printing for the Screamers and many other bands and been to every show that I could make it to. Yay for Hollywood.
Excellent video, as always. Very informative. I actually just bought a lovely print of the Misfits in the cave in New Jersey, shot by Eerie Von, and I bought it from the man himself. I adore the Misfits shots with Vampira, such a great moment in time. Cheers!
Great video, I'm going to send the link to my son who's a big Misfits fan. The aircraft at the end is know as a Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey. It's a tiltrotor military aircraft that can land in a tight place if needed. I live close to the Miramar Marine Air Base in San Diego and see them all the time.
A Fantastic view! This was a interesting vlog! It's much appreciated! No body dose it better then Mike & Jessica Ty for all you do! Luv&peace Sean&Family Cheers to Continued success in all! 🤝✌💫
Really cool! Nice to know someone has the same passion for iconic shots in music history as I do, but actually has the means to go to the physical places for us that cant, thank you Dr Grimm!
You don't see many record shops anymore amazing it still looks the same some great bands been there even Duran Duran there from my home town .thanks for sharing
Thanks for doing this. I’ve been listening to them since I was 13 years old. I’m now 34. I saw their first reunion show in Denver front row as well as once in Dallas, New Jersey, and Phoenix the other day.
I remember Vinyl Fetish well. It was one of four amazing record stores that were all on Melrose. The two guys who opened that store were quite influential in the LA/Hollywood club scene. They only sold music by artists they liked, and those two had a really good ear for what was cool especially in the Goth genre. Great video as always!
That Revolutions record store is a thing of beauty. Not just because of the memorabilia but also because the walls are green. Green is a very unique color because it doesn't clash with any other color. For that reason, green is also considered to be a neutral color. It doesn't clash with the colors on the T-shirts but makes those colors stand out in a way that a black, white or gray background wouldn't.
Glenn was a nerd in collage. The moment I shared a while back. Wasn't till he was heavily influenced by the other musicians and aggressive crowds following. Anything goes. Could do anything, just stand out in a band, put your heart into it. Then rock out the jams.
Truely Awesomeness!! 👊✊😎 Another Fabulous Episode Like Usual!! 👌👍 Take care and stay Epic - Stay Awesome - Stay Golden! 🖐🖖🔜 Have a great weekend Guys 😊🍁
I'm lucky to have seen misfits w/ Danzig reunion. I got to meet Doyle and his wife at a horror convention. So cool. I miss the old Amoeba . The concerts were amazing. I got to see The Deftones there years ago. 👍 The shirts are rad I have Sabbath mob rules jersey. I'd love to own that live misfits album. ❤ Another excellent video. Much love to you both. ❤
American psycho is one of my favorite Misfits album. Though it's not Danzig on vocals still a great album start to finish. And Dig up her bones never gets old ☠️
I was just enjoying this latest episode when who should pop up on the screen but my old friend Sean to play you that live Misfits LP. If you didn’t befriend him while you were there, you definitely should. He’s a great guy and a great musician.
Another awesome video done by the talented Mr.Grimm. Its awesome the knowledge and research Michael does for these videos. Sweet Wednesday Shirt too. Vinyl is a lost Art. Its cool the record store still exists. Thank-you for braving the weather for this video. I could only imagine how miserable Jessica would be. Any future Ghost club only events coming? Happy Halloween 🎃
Hey Michael thank you for another great story. I used to go to Tower Records in the Bay Area, could not walk out without spending at least $100 to $200. Ah, those were the days.
Damn this was awesome and the misfits, one of my favorite bands thanks for trecking up that mountain in the scorcing LA heat to show us such a beautiful part of history!
Thanks for making such a good video and for suffering through the heat and sweat for us Michael. Stay safe and hydrated. Sending hugs to you and Jessica.🤗🎃🦇🕸💜
#grimmlifecollective . I did met The Misfits but no Glenn Danzig, I did met Jerry Only , The Misfits did a concert I work at, It was wild concert when The Misfits, I do enjoy there music a lot, but where did Misfits played it close down, I can show where it was The Misfits played in Toronto, I have great memories where I did work at. I can't show inside Shoppers Drug Mart did take full build where The Misfits. We close down close around 2010. This is my Misfits story. There is Cemetery called Necropolis, St. James you guys to visit, George A. Romero’s Toronto Gravesite is at Necropolis Cemetery, It's Gothic Victorian Cemeteries in Toronto, I know you guys want to see in person. I like this video a lot.
9:12 You can see the same circle cuts in the cement on the ground around the fountain that you see in the Photograph around the base of the Bullwinkle Statue 8:37 further getting a sense of the placement.
hey we're actually bbqing here in Texas with misfits on the radio 🖤 stay hydrated buddy & put on some sunscreen. Thanks for taking us along. the Hollywood sign shots of the band were spectacular , I always get goosebumps when you line up photo's Excellent work💀🎶🎃 By the way your hair is long & BOO-TIFUL, I hope to see Jessica in the next video 🎃
Woo hoooooo I am here thanks for sharing my friends Michael and Jessica 💚🖤💚🖤 Happy Halloween 🎃 oh wow Vampira came to see the Misfits🖤💚🖤💚 wow amazing Pictures I have goosebumps just watching I love it!!! Yes!! Hollywood History I love the tee shirts the Cramps personal favorite!!! 👻👻🎃💚🖤
you guys do the most amazing videos i love all those subejects ramones i watched been to revelution records it is fun to live down there but thanks for all the hard work its well appreiceated
Man, I absolutely love Grimm life Collective, can't get enough of you and Jessica, your stories, film locations, when you and Jessica go to the comic cons, I really really hope one day, to meet you two, I'm such a huge fan, and as always, keep up the great work 💯 and as always, Happy... Halloween 🎃
I love all your history videos but I have to say this one is by far my favorite. Absolutely cool how you match the photos with current time. It's like watching a time travel movie. Fantastic job GLC!!❤❤❤
Again, another great video and story on Hollywood history That's where I remember now the most about hearing about the Misfits, was in the autobiography book on Maila Nurmi. It's been a while since I've read her book, but when you mentioned this of Vampira in the video, I now remember reading about her involvment.....pretty, friggin cool Rocky and Bullwinkle.....that brings back memories my watching it on TV Curious, Michael.....during any of your filming of the videos, have you ever come across a rattlesnake? It would freak me out Another great, enjoyable video...thank you Michael and Jessica Happy Halloween🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃
Awesome video. The plane flying around you is a V-22 Osprey. Primary users are the United States Marine Corps, United States Air Force and the United States Navy.
Oooo this takes me back when i was a teen. I had a walk among us poster. I thought it was so cool lol oooo I saw Siouxie Sue front row and the sisters of mercy were one of my favorite bands. I was a moody broody teen lol
Although I have zero interest in most of the artists mentioned, your enthusiasm and attention to detail make this a great vid. BTW, the aircraft seen is an Osprey. A very unique military asset.
I really like the way that Michael holds up an old photo in front of the original spot it was shot. It adds so much authenticity to these nostalgic tours he takes us on through LA. It also makes me happy that young fans like Michael and Jessica can appreciate eras that occurred before they were even born. I am 68 years old and appreciate that I was born in 1954 and was able to experience these eras as a young person. I wouldn't trade that time of my life for any other time period.
Well said! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Absolutely true. Much appreciation goes out to them. Hope to one day meet, would call my friends any day of the week. They share and speak after my own heart. As a teen i used love record stores they were huge in the 80s
Miss'em
You should go find a local one!
I was born 90', so it was CDs for me.
There was something special about owning physical copies of stuff that has been lost over the last decade.
Now everything is just digital and streaming. It's pretty sad.
I still have all my physical copies of music CDs, games and movies all in order on shelves.
It's nice having everything on a single device, but it just isn't the same. 😢
I have heard of them 👍
It's hard to find a good record store anymore but they do exist.
Especially record stores that specialize in punk or alternative music *AND* also don't overcharge for the records.
The closest record store to me occasionally has a few good LPs I'd like to have, but then you look At the price tag..... $30!!!! Even $40 for a new release?!?!? Hell no.
But I do know of a couple record stores that always have a great selection & for good prices...
The smell of a brand new cassette was always the best.

That Revolutions record store is a thing of beauty. Not just because of the memorabilia but also because the walls are green.

He is still a nerd. He would probably tell you that.
Omg as I am watching this tears are in my eyes seeing all band shirts. Cramps Sousie Soiux. I graduated 77. That splians it Lucy!
We appreciate the dedication to hike in this heat lol

Again, another great video and story on Hollywood history
That's where I remember now the most about hearing about the Misfits, was in the autobiography book on Maila Nurmi.
It's been a while since I've read her book, but when you mentioned this of Vampira in the video, I now remember reading about her involvment.....pretty, friggin cool
Rocky and Bullwinkle.....that brings back memories my watching it on TV
Curious, Michael.....during any of your filming of the videos, have you ever come across a rattlesnake?
It would freak me out
Another great, enjoyable video...thank you Michael and Jessica
Happy Halloween🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃
Thank you for watching and the support. As for Rattlesnakes…I have not come across one yet.
Happy Friday Michael and Jessica
Happy Friday as well.
Awesome video. The plane flying around you is a V-22 Osprey. Primary users are the United States Marine Corps, United States Air Force and the United States Navy.
Siiick !!! Nice to see Joey and Sean and Revolution Records get a big shout out!
I love how he says and there it is forever and the shopkeeper says yes and everything is for sale.
Oooo this takes me back when i was a teen. I had a walk among us poster. I thought it was so cool lol oooo I saw Siouxie Sue front row and the sisters of mercy were one of my favorite bands. I was a moody broody teen lol
Another Awesome video Grimm Life! Definitely have to go see Revolution Records 🙌🏼🤘🏼🖤✨
Although I have zero interest in most of the artists mentioned, your enthusiasm and attention to detail make this a great vid. BTW, the aircraft seen is an Osprey. A very unique military asset.
Another great video location guys love it 😀 😊
