    I think there may be a small port that bypasses the filter when there is restricted airflow...has anyone else heard of this?
    Also, I have a modded 201t...I think the timing advance makes for more resistance pull starting...other than that it runs good.

    • @Human1337
      @Human1337  7 лет назад +2

      Yeah, on this saw that port is a vent to the diaphragm on the carb, gets filtered air, on the 020T it wasn't filtered air to the vent. On newer saws it's called a "compensating" carb, doesn't bypass the filter, but does allow in more air in a separate path if the filter is getting clogged.

      +Human that my friend is the hard part. first thing get the body moving right if you are not moving your body right before gaining strength you will have more pain in along run and will be off balance not good. when getting back to working all day 6 days a week. i would work half a day take and day off no need to hurry. if that goes good try a full day and take two days off. when that is going good work two full days and take one day off work. by then you will start to know what not to do full throttle. i know it sounds slow i had to learn how to move the foot right and move the hand right on the right side of my body before gaining strength. i droped ten pounds of muscle in six day i know that does not sound like much i was 5'10" and weighted 150 pounds before getting hurt. it takes time i was just like any young man i want to go now but, the body keep telling me no way lol. stay safe.

    Get a new base plate for the air filter... In case you didnt know the air filter should be installed bottom first and you should hear an audible "click" when the top of the air filter locks on to the base plate. The cover doesnt really play a role in sealing, it just keeps the filter in place.

    Sry to double-post but meant to ask-- What *type* of Permatex do you use / where do you use it? Would LOVE any input you can give on experiences here!! I've got their lil blue thread-locker tubes and am uncertain if they're suitable *anywhere* on chainsaws (heat/vibration/solvents&oils) Red&Copper Permatex have held-up for me as my ignition-module-mounting, I only had 2 (stripped) OEM holes in the block and couldn't risk trying to re-position it so just laid it with Red/Copper Permatex and it's still in good shape and that's right on the block -- I am worried about my muffler, the OEM metal gasket/liner is in horrible shape (have muffler off now it's modded/painted just not re-installed) so was planning to use their Copper one but keep thinking I should use Grey('high torque') Wish I had a laser-thermometer lol, guess all that matters is real-world results so just testing them has worked out well so far in fact I actively seek places on my 2-strokes that can take any!

  • @cerberusbonsaiarboricultur774
    @cerberusbonsaiarboricultur774 4 года назад

    Do you also use a 192/193 or other smaller saw while climbing or do you default to 35cc/16"? Maybe it's because I'm like 2/3 your size but I only use my 16"(32cc) when my 12"(25cc) isn't long-enough for a cut otherwise it's the 12"/25cc all day long, due exclusively to size/weight(mostly weight) of the powerheads the ~3lbs difference really makes a significant difference in control for me!
    Re that dirt getting in there, I'd shun a 1/4-turn retention bolt but I've had this dirt problem on most/all of my 2-strokes and I always do same mod for all of them for more, cleaner air: drill and/or grind openings into the casing of the saw near/alongside the air-intake area and then cut ~3 or 4mm foam padding(depends how thick/dense of course) and "seal" not only the openings I've made but also the H/L/Idle slots and any other areas that unfiltered air would be coming in. *Then* I wipe the filter-body's edges so that I can seal it in-place (like around its 'seam' when closed, most of mine are 2-part plastic bodies) and *tape* it, am finding I can get a real tight seal using regular scotch tape I just put a few wraps' worth on and kinda tight/firm not too much but certainly not loose, it always ends-up with a dirt-crusting on it every time I go to clean my innermost air-filter so I'm still getting some dusts/sands but at least I know whatever's on the tape is crud my cylinder didn't have to pass/process! I wish there were a way for me to test 'air quality' but I'm going to read the comments here and then choose *how* I'm going to start experiments on sealing the saw's body panels (am seeing a bead-of-grease suggested here as top-rated comment, like the thinking but there's gotta be a cleaner solution than grease am thinking I may try finding a way to effectively use a Permatex compound here, maybe join pieces with it but lay a layer of painter's-tape over the Permatex before 'joining'/laying the pieces together for good Permatex curing and then simply remove the tape and should effectively have a good 'rubber spacer'! Will be testing sjoint-seals this weekend for sure as one of my saws is already apart/on-the-bench so very simple in my position thankfully :D
    Thanks for the vids, hope that nasty injury has healed in-full man / no 'lingering pain' issues which seem far more common the older we get lol

    For the fuel and oil caps; I just replaced mine, they seal and operate much better. At first, the anchor point for the caps was coming loose and the cap would fly away, but you can fix that by making a hook and forcing the anchor higher in the retaining crevasse. Mine stay in there now.

    Does the upside down bar make a difference in performance? Can you do a video testing that? Glad you are feeling better!

      There is no upside down, it's symmetrical, you flip it occasionally to keep the wear even

    I have a saw that was sold to me as a 200T. This saw has screw caps for the fuel,oil and does not have the cold weather shudder. Someone made the comment to me that it isn't a 200T and is probably an 020. Both the recoil and chain cover say 200T. The saw starts really easy and performs very well. Any comments would be appreciated. Get well soon human.

      Likely an 020 with 200 recoil, the opposite of mine. Pretty much the exact same saw though, I just put a new carb on my buddy Joe's 020, and the carb I put on was for a 200, worked just fine.

      The only major component that makes a difference between the two models is the fuel tank. Depending on which fuel tank you have that is the only major component that will not have compatible parts. If you remove the air filter base plate and inspect the fuel hose that will tell you everything about the saw.
      The old style 020t has separate fuel and tank breather hoses, the 200t has them integrated into the same formed hose.
      There is also a spot for the updated tank breather to snap into place on the updated control handle, next to the carb.
      The vintage/legacy model 020t has a completely different build with the air filter on the left side of the saw next to the starter recoil.. I ran across a rear handle version at an estate sale a couple of months ago, wasnt worth popping on.

      The 020 and 200t carbs are interchangeable... The difference is the addition of an accelerator pump on the updated carb, as well as a few ethanol resistant components.
      I always recommend replacing old style carbs with updated ones whenever possible, the saw will rev faster with the accelerator pump.

      The new one had the tube to the diaphragm so that it gets filtered air, just stuck a little wad of T-shirt in there to keep out the big shit, lol

    Do you ever run skip tooth chains. Always nice to do less filing and also cuts faster due to better chip removal.

      +Samuel Luria Did I say for topping saws? It's obvious he runs ground/bucking saws. Also I saw a wall full of chains in the vid. U the comment police or looking to shit on someone?

      +Samuel Luria I assumed it was a sarcastic question, my bad. I don't run topping saws so I don't know. Was just a general question.

      Max rpm is 14,000, pdf says max power is at 10,000 though. Could be off though, not the first time I'll have found errors in their product manuals.
