wish I could've known this before I taped a pushpin to my desk and pushed the pins out a little bit, then pulled the pin the rest of the way out with a pair of slip joint pliers. worked perfectly, but I'll do this next time.

If there are no pins, and you can’t see a ‘split’ on one side then you may have a watch that uses collar and pins. Citizen often use that type. From my experience you can push from either side. If you can see the pin is split on one side and looks like a tiny screw head (but one you cant get a screwdriver in). Push from the OTHER side. Any doubt at all I would take it to a jeweler!
Thanks for the useful video. Two minor points please. Good to know in advance there are arrows indicating the direction to push the pin out. Also, would be good to clarify if all links in the chain can be removed or only certain ones...how do you know etc?
Thats interesting, for some reason I thought ‘cotter pins’ were the straight pins that have those annoying tiny collars. Maybe because cotter sounds like collar 😂
I just received a new metal watch that has no arrow marks on the insides of the links but I can tell where are the different ends, and therefore which end to push the pins out. Thank you.

I got a Kevin Hart replica Rolex. Has no arrows though. Pins came out daily easy & went back in with some aggressive tapping. Thank you for the video. Tired of overpaying jewelers to do something I learned from your video.
Thank you for this video! I adjusted my Invicta bracelet earlier today before seeing your video, and I also bent the tip of the bracelet tool while removing the first pin. I'm glad I'm not the only one to have trouble with those flimsy tools. I decided to switch to using the small hammer and pin driving tool because I felt like they gave me more control, and I was more successful. Tapping the pins back in took a lot of effort though, with lots of hammering before some of the pins were completely driven into the links. Has that ever been an issue with you? My only concern is that I'm not experienced with metal bracelets, and I'm afraid of the pins falling out or failing in some other way after my installation. I'm interested in knowing if that's ever happened with you, and if you have any way of being certain that your pins will stay tight in the holes.
Hi Daniel, it sounds like this was a lot more effort than is should have been, are you sure you were not trying to push the pin in for the way it came out. you push them out from the side with the arrow but back in the other way round. They should easily go back in. I have never had this type of pin fall back out. some screws I have but not these ones.
I also had some problems putting the pins back until I realized that the pins on my Invicta have heads. In other words one end of the pin is narrower than the other end. That's only visible when using a magnifying glass. Then I simply pushed them with my hand (narrower end going first) and fully seated them using the tool illustrated on the video.
Cheers man bought my first watch, similar to this one just a BiDen watch. And was dreading figuring it out the link removal till I seen your video. Luckly my watch came with a little link remover
my watch has no arrows, has either 2 or 1 circles on each side of the pins if that makes sense. and to take it to my walmart and have them do it is scary , they dont care about your watch and i've seen it. where else would you recommend i go?
@@CasualWatchReviews The pins used to push out the pin links are what is breaking. I purchased the tool you recommended. But the pins in the watch band would not budge. Rather the pins that come with the tool would bend and or break.
Just a quick question: when you reinsert the pin, I'm assuming you have to note which end of it has the split, and make sure it matches all the others. Do you also follow the same arrow direction for inserting the pin? Excellent video, by the way.
Hi, Im working on a updated video to this to show how it works. You're going the opposite way to the arrow to get it back in. The split has to be on the side the arrow is on

Thank you. Very helpful. Ater spending 15m trying ever-smalled screwdrivers on the split pin, the pin pushers worked better (LOL). Man-oh-man a couple of the pins were stuck. Good thing I had spare pin pushers on hand; bent one and another was incapable. Third one, a tough little metal one like yours, worked. Anyway thank you.

Hi David, yes if your worried then wait till you see a jeweller, maybe put it on a NATO until then. I practiced a lot so am used to changing them now, but occasionally one does catch me out!
@@CasualWatchReviews Mine is a Casio - same style of band. But, on the inside near the edge are arrows pointing outward. Another vid shows this type (it has no end pins but two prongs instead). The whole end is supposed to slide out but try as I have I cant get them to budge. I might try WD40.
Hey Issac, the only think you have to be careful of is that the clasp os comfortable ok your wrist, work that but out then you can remove the Links and use the micro adjustment on the clasp to get a better fit!
Hi, I updated this video showing the pins better. But you shouldn’t need to apply that much pressure causing the pins to bend, you may have pushed them back in the wrong direction. I had the same problem until the tool broke. A common Push Pin, thick book and hammer or something to lightly tap the push pin can be used without buying tools.
pro tip. you don't have to take out pins on invicta pro diver. you can take out the big pin and select a different hole to push it on. you only need a safety pin. no need for a watch maker etc. if you select the tightest micro adjust. you will find it fits perfectly. honestly no need to be removing pins unless your super skinny.
Hi Yoshi, this is just not true. I even mentioned in the upload. I set mine to the closest hole to the end. It’s already set to the tightest before I even took links out. My wrist is 7.2inch so about average. So unless you have massive 9 inch wrists, in almost every case you will need to remove links.
I came to see how to push the pin back in, but that's the exact step you skipped over. When I try, it gets stuck at the last couple of millimeters, where the pin has a split. I eventually managed it by hammering but I'm not sure that's the best method when you want to keep the bracelet in good condition.
@@CasualWatchReviews it only goes in one way as the split end of the pin is too wide... when it reaches the split end it gets stuck... maybe it's specific to this bracelet
I have adjusted a lot of bracelets with pins and never had a significant issue getting them back in. If your forcing them something is wrong I would fear.
Just bought one and the 37.5 is aa beauty like an 10+ year old one have. But the bracelet is junk these days. Could not remove more than one pin? Just a mess and broke my tools. The bracelet is nothing like the Invicta I have 10 years old. To a watchmaker and really hope he has better luck.

If one link is removed (an odd number) one side will be longer than the other. Will that make a difference when strapped on your wrist with the face in the center of your wrist. Or do you need to remove one on each side and adjust it afterwards, but don't know if there is enough to loosen now, where before it was not enough to tighten. Thank you.

I just finished resizing a watch bracelet, and had some difficult pins to push out, the sullution a drop of WD40 and it did the trick! 👍
Yep they can be tricky the pins sometimes. First I have heard of WD40 being used! But if it works!

Just did it, my watch had the springs on top and bottom, so I didn't need to hammer it in after. I used a cheap earing, it got messed up after.

I used a Pushpin (thumb tac) and thumb pressure to remove links.. No other tools needed...

I just bought a gold invicta and I love it so much but it’s not tight on my arm. I try to remove some of the links but I don’t want to break it.

An old woman could figure this out. I used corn cob skewer pins. BUT my new watch has NO holes of any kind on the edge. How do you remove links there?

I have one of these tools but the pin pusher keeps bending when I try and screw it??
Some of the cheaper ones do that for sure. Also make sure your pushing it from the right side. They only push one way

I had some trouble with this one the pin broke on me and I didnt have a replacement.

A handy tip; Before you are going to use tools to resize your watch, practice this first on an old bracelet you will never use.

If one link is removed (an odd number) one side will be longer than the other. Will that make a difference when strapped on your wrist with the face in the center of your wrist. Or do you need to remove one on each side and adjust it afterwards, but don't know if there is enough to loosen now, where before it was not enough to tighten. Thank you.
Curt Scholz I try and move equally from each side with the micro adjustment on the clasp set to the tightest. So I can always expand it out.
