T-WRX No, there's definately a LOT more to it than that. Cross hatch angle, surface finish and obviously sizing. Grit is a big deal too. They didn't use nearly enough honing oil either. This is only coming from an engine machinist though.
I was more asking why rusty cams where being put into the engine. This is being put together as a high performance engine and its seem like at least the corrosion should be polished off the lobes.....

That honing was way less scientific than I thought it'd be. Glad to see some progress though!
Angle was actually wrong on that honing. Depending on where you look. 25 degrees to 45 degrees. That engine should have specs that say.
