Michael had his classic moves even at that age. He was born to be on stage.
Born the be a Legend !
Well... he was basically pushed and beaten into perfection...
You know Edison famously stated "genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration". In Michaels case, quite a part of that 99% was made up out of tears and blood as well.
I get your point though, there was definately talent and he was arguably the greatest entertainer in pop music to date. Just wanted to emphasise on the fact his dedication wasn't entirely voluntary, to say the least, which, to me, makes the statement he was "born to be on stage" a bit dubious.
ThelemicMagick I agree with your comment, mate. But I also think that even with the years of abuse and heartache, Michael had an innate talent that was undeniable. 💖💔🌸☮️
If this ain't 1 of the first rapp songs J5 for life !!!
@@ThelemicMagick you couldnt beat that kinda talent into me if you tied for a 100 years - Michaels was already there
Come on man! Michael Jackson has to be the most talented kid I ever seen! He was a natural and this song puts me in a good mood!
Maybe the most talented after Mozart.
Michael was 10 years old, and that was a performance to the studio recording of the song.
Yeah, you can always tell by the fade out at the end lol
@@danhunt1830 Not only that, but when you listen, it's the exact same performance vocally, and instrumentally as the recording, and the same stereo mix with the guitar, the percussion, the background vocals, and Jermaine's lead vocal panned to the left channel, and the drums and piano panned to the right.
Pretty common back then. The record companies put their artists on shows like this as an advertisement for the record. They wanted people to know what they were going to get. The two shows that DIDN'T ever let them do that was Don Kirchner's Rock Concert and Midnight Special; always a live performance, and sometimes the best versions of those songs.
“Rockin Robin", I’m telling ya- young MJ is just a bout rapping in that song! You will be moving your body, trust! Great beat! Please react to it J! 💛❤️✌️✨
Oh my, how could you not love little Michael. He was one of a kind & so confident on stage. Always a true performer ♥️
He was also adorable.
Kathy Jam he really was, I hated when he started with the plastic surgeries. He never needed any, not even the first one.
missgmoma Hey girlfriend! How’s it going? You safe? 💖💖💖😘
Kathy Jam Wasn’t he though? 💖💖💔🌸
Turd Ferguson hey boo, doing good. How are you feeling? We really got lucky this time, just getting the outskirts of the hurricane, some flooding but nothing catastrophic. The storm is starting to turn away from us before making landfall. Feeling sorry for those who will get it but we’ve been bombarded with them back to back here. Oh girl, you need to go check out the comments on my feed on sultans of swing . Between ‘ Really smart’ & me. Lol! I tried to warn him 🤣
Bless him look how young he is. Even then such a great voice. A great choice. Great reaction. 😀😀💖💕💖
This takes me back the the J5 and the Osmonds were the two families with the new with the tenny bopper idles. The J5 had ABC and the Osmonds had One Bad Apple. I still have the 45's from back in the day
I still have my 45 of One Bad Apple too!
I don't remember if the DiFranco family was well known, but they had Heartbeat, It's a Lovebeat out around the same time. Same kind of group, siblings & the youngest boy was the lead singer. I had their 45, too. And my little sister BROKE IT. #StillMad
@@dianaprobst3157 The Defranco family song Heartbeat was popular in 1973. The Jackson 5, ABC and the Osmond Brothers, One Bad Apple were both popular in 1970. When the Defrancos hit the radio Michael & Donny already had several hits. I remember the Defrancos but they didn't last very long
@@randytorres8211 I thought they probably didn't. I've never run across anyone who remembers that song before. I was 5 when the song came out & kept that record for years because I had a crush on Tony. #lol
@@dianaprobst3157 I actually liked the flip side of Heartbeat better.
Sweet, Sweet Loretta.
I know you listened to it, because buying a 45 of your favorite was also taking a chance there'd be another good song on the other side. 😁
the formula was in place from the beginning. all the talent and versatility. Never Can Say Goodbye another early hit for Jacksons and Gloria Gaynor as well
Always a pleasure to listen to the Jackson 5 ...
That kid Michael was pure talent
A HUGE HIT! Michael was already so polished as a performer. Great to see this again.
Even back then, you could tell Michael was bursting with talent.
I love Motown Monday's. I love this song. Thank you J.
Kathy Jam yay! Kathy you’re first! No#1
Looking at Michael back then makes me sad. He seemed happy then.
Yes! It truly breaks my heart.
Same here ✌️
he actually wasn't that happy - he said in interviews that he was very lonely as a child - always working and around adults and not other kids - which is even sadder
He was doing much better I think before they took him over the road.
Am I not right in saying that his childhood was awful especially because if his abusive father and that’s why he acted the way he did as an adult
MJ was a couple of years younger than me. I remember seeing this on tv and couldn't believe someone my age could be so talented at that age. Amazing
ditto 😊
There's just no bad songs with Michael. With his Brothers or Solo. One I like a lot is Dancing Machine!😍
When they left Motown they had a really great song called Enjoy Yourself in 1976, and also Dancing Machine!❤️❤️
They were so much fun to watch and you could sense the budding star in Michael even then. Miss seeing those moves and hearing that voice.
I WAS WATCHING THIS WHEN IT PLAYED. I KNEW THEY HAD TALENT BACK THEN, ESPECIALLY MICHAEL.
Never a bad performance from the king of pop. Bring it on home by sam cooke another great one for motown mondays.
This video reminds me of how much I miss American Bandstand. What a GREAT show. Dick Clark was the MAN! This song was HUGE when I was in elementary school. Every jukebox around my old neighborhood had it and it was played a LOT.
NO SURPRISE, that he grew up dancing so phenomenally well, dancing THAT WELL as a small child!!!
I remember seeing this performance, They were so exciting when they came out with Motown. You got to play "Zipp-A-Doo-Dah" NEVER CAN SAY GOODBYE", "CONER OF THE SKY", "SKYWRITER", "BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER", "LOOKIN THROUGH THE WINDOWS, "DANCIN MACHINE".....I could go on forever.....Motown Royalty!!!!
Yes! I saw them at the Yale Bowl in CT - 1971 or 1972
OMG..they were all so gorgeous and talented....
Hard to believe this had to be at least 50 years ago.
About 52 years! He’d be 62 now.
1970. Baby Michael at about age 11 or 12.This is so good, they were a group too be reckon with big time. Talent aplenty.
Little Michael. He was always a brilliant entertainer. Truly missed.
He was born a legend! You can see it even here!
My childhood idols...Michael was a born entertainer!!!
Speaking of ABC, JayveeTV please check out 80's well known new wave band called ABC and their songs Look of Love, The Night You Murdered Love, Poison Arrow, When Smokey Sings and Be Near Me. Also Naked Eyes - Always Something There To Remind Me and Promises Promises. Howard Jones - What is Love, Like to Get To Know You Well, Things Can Only Get Better and New Song.
Yes yes! Hope he reacts to all of those artists you mentioned
Michael is so captivating you almost miss the performance as a whole. Each brother is so talented, each part of each song is so well choreographed-each beat of the song has a movement, even something as simple as a head nod... and it adds so much to the performance as a whole. You can see how they perfected their craft and it was such a GIFT to the fans. Love them!
Such an amazing performer that crossed all barriers. A true blessing to the entertainment world.
This was their 2nd single and 2nd #1... The next song also hit # 1 "The Love You Save" - Great Song! I saw them in concert at the Forum in Inglewood, Calif. in June of '70...
That child was nothing short of amazing.
God gave us Michael, we took him for granted. He is missed! He was 11-12 years old.
God gave us everyone...
@@alienator4684 he was just more generous in the talent portion with Michael.
Tammi RN that’s so true
What a phenomenal group!! Classic Jackson 5 were top of the charts!!! Love them so much.. Dancing Machine!!
Hey Jay, you like that, check out I Want You Back by Jackson 5.
he reviewed that one.
Motown Monday’s yay!!! I love that you bring back Jackson 5 to see young Michael. This was a great hit at the time.
I wonder how often Michael Jackson got one of his own songs stuck in his head.
I loved Michael and got to see the Jackson 5 when I was about 13 or 14 at Summerfest in Milwaukee Wi and I screamed my head off 😂
When these songs were topping the charts The Jacksons had a Saturday Morning Cartoon Show. There are clips on youtube - fun to see.
I can’t believe how quiet Michael’s talking voice has always been yet he can still sing like this loud
Always like watching little Michael performing and his stage presence is intoxicating. This is one of my favorite Jackson 5 songs purely cause of the hook like you said it is nostalgic ☺️👍
Michael was only two years older than me and I have been in love with him my whole life. He was so magical and beautiful. Not only did adults stand there with their mouths dropped open with how cute he was but us children went crazy over him.
Your Motown Mondays are amazing jay love seeing you have so much fun✌
I've never seen this video before until now and I'm 52! This was a really fun song! Amazing how young Michael was here, yet he basically took over the stage and made the song really fun.
Yes!!! I remember watching Michael on this exact show. It was magical just S it is today! Thank you for reaching back in the past! So much musical talent during the 20th Century.
This was in the beginning for The Jackson 5
Great song
The Jackson 5 set a record at the time by having their first 5 singles all go to number 1 on the charts. Also, they were originally discovered by Gladys Knoigh, but Barry Gordy gave the credit to Dianna Ross.
The Jackson 5's first hit. Wow!
Michael such a cutie! This show was called American Band Stand. Sort of the caucasion version of Soul Train. I picked up dance moves from both American Band Stand and Soul Train. I saw the Jackson 5 at Wrigley Field many years ago. Loved it!
!!! I love them. When they left Motown and formed The Jacksons, they created some of my fave songs. "Lovely One" live in Toronto from '84 is incredible. Their dances are just WOW. Also "Destiny" where they performed in snowsuits on ABBA Snowtime in '79 is beautiful. I'd love to see your reactions to those two, and The Jacksons in general! Such a different vibe than their older stuff.
Whats wild is I just learned MJ released Off the Wall and Thriller at the same time he was touring with The Jacksons. Just a music machine.
Love, love, love Michael Jackson! Me & my best friend use to make up dance routines to The Jackson Five, lol! The good old days!
I love the steady touches of fuzz guitar backing it up.
Some of us were privileged to see the very 1st showing of this! We were totally in awe.
He was a force of nature! Never been anyone like him. Before, or since. Probably never will be. Great reaction!.
I think that Who's Loving You, which was originally done by Smokey Robinson, is easily the Jackson Five's greatest song, and Michael's best performance as a singer, young or older. He's masterful on the first the first word! Even voice teachers can't master the way he delivers the word "When"! First word of the song!
Classic Jackson 5! You should check out some of their newer stuff like Can You Feel It when they started calling themselves The Jackson's. Shows their progression and the direction they wanted to take their music 😉
That young and still the talent bursts out of Michael!
J - you on the grind my friend.
Continued success.
Jackson 5 performed this song in a comedy sketch on the Carol Burnett Show in 1974. Michael was 16 yo and each brother was introduced and did a solo verse.
My best friend was born on Michael Jackson's birthday. So it was a many many years joke, I'd call her up and say,,,,,,, do you know this is Michael Jackson's birthday??
I miss her awful. I'll never stop thinking of her on August 29th
That's not really a joke
@@nickcangemi it was a joke between lifelong friends,,, who loved Michael Jackson,,
@@nickcangemi Michael would have been 61 on August 29,, So would Diane,, a 45 year thing between us,,, nobody calls me up and says hey! Did you know this is Captain Kangaroo's birthday? It was very special,, MJ was special to us
Every parent should have J5 greatest hits in their car and turn kids on to it....TIMELESS...KIDS LOVE IT
Going back to Indiana is my favorite Jackson 5 song and I think the most underappreciated song.
Do a reaction to The Jackson 5's Dancing Machine.
Thanks JV! I like your memory of this song! RIP MJ💕😢
My daughter sang this in a school talent contest and won hands down. already loved this song , after that always will.
For me a throwback for sure - ABC, Easy As One Two Three - listened to this as a kid about as old as Michael himself.
This was the first of many Appearances that they made either together as a Group or as Solo Artists. Not even The Osmonds Family Members could say that about themselves. This was from January 1970 and it was their Debut Appearance on American Bandstand. They had just done Ed Sullivan earlier that month and a Year later it was cancelled after 23 Years on the air (1948-1971). They started with I Want You Back then ABC both of which went to Number One. If you can check out The UK Soap Opera Eastenders doing their Tribute To Motown where the Kids Sang ABC. Or even when a Character named Bianca Jackson came back with her Children and they sang "I Want You Back".
Whats up jay happy new year I am enjoying myself watching the Jackson 5 with you jay god bless you your beautiful family and your friends and you your family and your friends you all have a wonderful fantastic awesome bless safe beautiful marvelous year love you stay safe 🙏😊❤
Such great entertainers. Everybody loved the Jackson's and the Osmond's. You should check out the Osmond brother as well. Down By The Lazy River is a great one!
Love the Jackson 5! I would also like to see you do some Osmonds... One Bad Apple, Crazy Horses, Yo Yo, Down By The Lazy River, Love Me For A Reason.. all huge hits back in the day!
Check out these jams by The Jackson 5: “The Love You Save”, “2-4-6-8”, “I Found That Girl”, “Maybe Tomorrow” and “Lookin Through The Windows”.
Love, Love, Love ! I could listen and watch the Jackson 5 all night ! Never gets old. I'm hoping you will react to Ben soon. My favorite all time J5/MJ song.
Got me Dancing in the country in 2022 cutting this rug up. Get it Michael!!!
I remember this as it was yesterday! They were fantastic!!!!! Great choice!!!!
You should see how he bought the house down when they their version of James Brown's There Was A Time. Even Dick Clark knew he wasn't going to be some Flash In The Pan Singing Star. This was from American Bandstand in 1970 when they made the first of many performances. In Fact "All" of The Jacksons appeared on the show either as a Group or as Solo Artists.
Back in the day, during a lot of "live" TV performances, singers were lip syncing. That's why the TV performance sounded like radio version.
On the TV show the Midnight Special, performances were live with the bands playing the instruments.
My first concert was the Jackson 5! They were amazing!
American Bandstand was the place to go to get your name and music out there.
I remember seeing Steppenwolf doing "Magic Carpet Ride"on Bandstand and I loved it.
Barry Manilow did the intro song
for Bandstand.
There was mainly Ed Sullivan or American Bandstand at that time.
Smokey Robinson once said (jokingly) that a 10 year old kid was singing a love song better than he could pmsl!! Brilliant :)
I'm not sure what the future holds for that little guy with the big voice but I get this feeling that his four brothers are going be huge stars someday.
Check out "Candy Girl" by New Edition. Very similar to this one
This song always makes me so happy 😊
Jay ,you now have to play One bad apple by the Osmonds. They were billed against the Jacksons but Donny and Michael remained friends throughout their lives. Also thier song Down by the lazy river. The Osmonds are a talented family played all thier instruments. You'll be amazed.
They were professional when start...not just Michael but ALLof them🥂💜
One of the happiest songs. Quite a feat considering the childhood these kids had.
BORN TO BE THE KING OF MUSIC 😢😢👏👏👏👏👏
Wow, I still love this song.
It's no wonder Michael (genecticly gifted) growing up in that house with all those talented brothers turned into the rare talent he was!
I couldn't take my eyes off little Randy lol
Randy wasn’t even Here. You’re probably thinking of Marlon.
You have seen those moves before handsome.....recall Jackie Wilson.
YAY! SO FUN! 1st grade & dancing w/little funksters ~ a party staple ever since!!
Dude have a good taste in old songs. Nice
Michael was a rare talent to say the least. I recommend for a reaction from them about same time called Ben. It's a great but sad song 😓💗
Back in the day Bands had to catch the audience without the distraction of a multi-million dollar video.
And they did ! 💪🏻👍🏻
Hometown boys....one of the best things to come out of Gary, Indiana....
I can remember watching this.
❤️I was dancing in my chair! ❤️ Bar still high! ❤️
React Michael Jackson - Rock With You
Barry Gordy and his Motown magic was Michael's elementary school education.
