Mike M. And Les Claypool.
Mike M. #2 was Panic Switch/ Silversun Pickups
Mike M. .....she's a bad mamma jamma
what about rick james dude?
Don’t let the dark over take your light! We love Norman’s and appreciate your efforts every day to bring us entertainment! THANKS MARK AND JEN!!
I love these rics. They are the best looking bass ever made. My favorite bass player of all times used one of these. Chris Squire.
And this whole freaking time I swore I was watching the "Norms astral esoteric stringed skateboard guitar channel." Fooled again!!!
Rock Hard Riffs yeah it's a tough pill to swallow. don't know if I want to stay subscribed anymore 😢
Mr. Business Cat ....pitiful isn't it. But fear not! You can always subscribe to my humble, lowly channel in consolation.
what a cool.....um cat! thanks!
that from whom the bells toll was amazing! one of my favourite songs
Love the ‘81 Rickky. Love you comment on the first letter too.
Thank Thursday for Rick o day!! Surely one of the most unique sounding musical instruments. Legendary.
Gotta love Thumpin Thursday. '81 is my birth year. Ask my mother, she'll tell you !!!!!!!!!
Mark.....you know you and Jenn are knocking it outta the park....we all look forward to your videos....ignore the haters.....
Way to go Mark! Couldn’t agree more about the naysayers and complaining. Haven’t seen you that animated since the Hendrix estate BS.
If you look back in the comments of the Pelham blue ES 330 you’ll see that I was trying to squash the naysayers clear back then. I got your back homie.
Dave S. Um, quick heads up, you’re actually not allowed to type the name Hendrix without prior written permission from the estate. Your comment will be flagged.
William Anderson You may be right. I’m sure I owe them at least $10.
Episode 487. My favorite bass of all time. Thanks for whetting my Rickwhistle. 😉
Episode 1 from the Inner Sanctum of Norman's Esoteric Guitars, Norman Harris Grand Master and Mark Agnesi Grand Poohbah. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
existential moment...I was playing all those rare guitars back in the day and didn't know it
Always wanted one. Geddy had one.
sickb2200 He uses Jazz basses now.
He pulled a Ric out for A Passage to Bangkok - 2nd leg of the Snakes and Arrows Tour
The American Classics are the best! Thanks for what you do!
I'm a Ricaholic! I've got 4 Rics and a 'faker and I still had to check this one out!
Tight on Mark. Either like the channel or leave
Always a pleasure to watch you episodes, I'm learning alot, I just wish I could remember it. I have OG, memory problems.
Awesome been waiting for a 4001 thanks guys👍
Finally! We get some Ricks!....issssssss what I would say after I get my Maton! Gotta do a Maton!
$4001
If you're lucky.
There are a couple on the website for around $2,500
Steve Hardy
NORM SOLD THIS 4001 RIC FOR ONLY &1,750 W CASE !!
I PLAY IT A LOT
I ROTATE MY 33 BASSES OUT TO A LUTHIER IF NEEDED & PLAY THEM FOR A MONTH
6 AT A TIME/TAKES 5 1/2 MO.
I'M A GUITARIST / BASSIST SINCE MARCH 18, 1960 @ 10
CARLOS GUITARLOS USA HIGHLAND PARK L.A. 90042
I got a 4003 this year and it's been kind of a lemon. I needed to get the board replaned at the factory, and they sent it back with the fret rocker going nuts, so I had to pay my luthier for a level and crown...hopefully when I get it back it'll finally be what everyone's talkin about.
Dig it! Love the Rickenbacker, and thank you for playing For Whom the Bell Tolls. Cliff Burton (along with Lemmy) is the reason I play bass, and have always wanted a Rick. #cliffemall
When Mark switched to a pick, to me it reminded me of Chris Squire's crude sound. Love it.
I do like esoteric guitars though. Because every esoteric guitar on this channel teaches me something new.
And I gotta say...
I'm over LP Jrs.
But I'm biased because I could watch transition era Strats all week long
Classic! Thank you Mark and Norm.
I actually agree with the guy from Alberta and I would like to see really rare guitars. But I understand that this channel is a big advert, and that they are trying to show the guitars they want to sell. I enjoy though, and I keep coming every day. My favourite part is when mark explains the stuff about the guitar, the different variations, and all that.
In any case, if you check the most watched GOTD videos you will see that the most watched ones are what Mark calls "esotheric". The most watched one is the 10 string BC Rich. The next one is the Rosewood Telecaster, and although Telecasters are super common, that one with the Rosewood body is very rare. Then youve got a boring ES but then youve got a rickenbaker, then a Esquire, then a Jackson USA Randy Rhoads, a Mosrite is also in the top10. I dont know, I think it is obvious that people want to view rare guitars, but if they are selling those ES, they will continue to go out.
In any case, the only thing I would change would be to mic the amps. And maybe also show a bit the amp you are using.
Best Bass I've heard in awhile. TY
Trogley’s fun to watch too.. Don’t know of any channel that would make that guy happy.. Really like this Ricky... ThumpON indeed!!
Hey Mark, you know would would be nice to see on the show? A Peavey T-40 or T-60. They've got the most tone adjustments out of any passive instruments I've seen. Plus, they're USA made vintage.
Neck Pickup: Not sure
Middle Pickup: Panic Switch - Silversun Pickups (I think, it's been awhile since I last heard that song)
Bridge Pickup: For Whom The Bell Tolls - Metallica (First Metallica bass line I ever learned, Cliff Burton is one of my absolute favourite bassists and a massive influence on me)
Andrew Pappas in the UK? Nice if ya are and nice if ya aren't
Ah ,canada
for whom the bell tolls love it
Beautiful looking bass sounds great I’d love a jam on that
I watch every day! The guitars you do are amazing!!!
the classic rock and roll style bass , great sound outta that monster , if I played bass , that wound be the one I want , sadly i can't play bass as my fingers are to short , but that is neither here nor there , great thumper , love to hear the bass play.
Keep up the great work. That guy probably thinks Rare Ahi means it's hard to find. More Les Paul's please......
Its my 52 birthday Sunday. I would love to see what you have to say about Gibsons LG2 from the 50's. I bought one for my bday present. Special shout out to my Cousin Danny O'connor who is running for Congress 12th district Ohio.
How about a week of Esoteric Guitars? Teisco Tuesday, Washburn Wednesday, Thumpin' Thursday the Esoteric Edition, Framus Friday, and Silvertone Saturday?
I was bummed when I realized it was Thumpin' Thursday. Not because it was a bass, but because I have another day of work still. For some reason all day I was thinking it was Friday all day. Oh well. Hey, thanks to both of you :)
Speaking of Cliff Burton, a Guitar of the Day with an Alembic Spoiler would be rad.
I Love your show Mark and Jen.
I just knew you were going to play bells. I just knew it the moment you opened the case
Norm's Rare Sitars?
Jeff Jarecki

Fuck yeah! That guy can kick rocks.
I'm a strat man. I will NEVER get tired of strats. Although I do love semihollows and oddballs. Especially if it's a 12 string semi hollow strat..... BOINGGG! Time to call warmoth.
Hey Mark and Jen,
I got a newsletter today from Eastwood guitars. Your Moderne episode from a while back was mentioned and linked in the newsletter.
It was put into a section called "WATCH: Moderne History, Mark Agnesi from Norman's Rare Guitars tells the story behind the mysterious Moderne. Fascinating info!"
Thought you'd like to know :)
Keith’s face on mark’s shirt is rocking out while he plays, the face is kind of animated lol
How can you have a Rickenbacker bass for thumping Thursday and not do a Motörhead song?
Happy THUMPIN' Thursday
everyone! 'Ric' is in da house!
Paul McCartney, Geddy Lee
& Chris Squire. Enuff said!
That is beautiful
Norm's cool guitars....rare and fine. Yeah find these everyday... sure. Love the THUMPIN Thursday! Thanks Mark & Jen
Ah the day is NOT complete w/o guitar of the day !! Love it dudes ...and dudette :)
2nd one is Silver Sun Pickups - Panic Switch for everyone having a hard time.
Had a 78 like that. Sold it in 82. Buyer still has it. Won't sell it. 😁 notice the pick gaurd is close to the bottom edge of the body, typical like mine was, and still is.
It would be cool if you guys could review a Lowden acoustic guitar for Flat Top Friday. I have one and they are awesome. I watch every day and you guys do a great job. Keep up the great work. Thank you.
Geddy Lee, Chris Squire, Lemmy, McCartney, Cliff Burton, Roger Glover, Mike Mills, Roger Waters, Bruce Foxton, Pete Quaife. This bass has more than earned its reputation.
The sound of this bass is it's own food group.
Rickenbacker's are the only bass guitars that make me want to play bass
Great Bass!! Yeah! I have a suggestion for you Guys, why don't you show Mark on the way to the couch? Pluging the guitars and basses, would be nice to see, like a backstage minute! Thank you Norman's!
Cliff! Best Thumping Thursday ever.
Bass player in Debris of Titan plays a blue '78 4001. Great sound.
I much prefer a rare guitar to one that is medium-rare or well done. Much Juicier!
Dogshit guitars? Well said Mark, that sure told him!
Cliff Burton....for whom the bell tolls. Respect buddy.
WHAT THE HELL MARK MAN
YOU DIDN'T DEMONSTRATE THE DANG RICK-O- SOUND DUDE
Hey Mark, if there's a sweet sweet bass next week on Thursday, could you play some New Order?
Gibson Les Paul Custom Maple Fingerboard from late 1970s are lacquered
I feel a new series coming on..common guitar of the day rofl!!
The first bass I'd want to have...
Hey Mark and Jen
Love the show, me and my girlfriend watch it every day. It’s her birthday on the 4th, could she get a shout-out next weird ass Wednesday? Her names April and she’s going to be 20. Thanks
We like our murica guitars.. True that homies
Metalliiiiiicaaaaa!
love that rick....incredible.....what have you got against banjos
Mark, have you seen a lot of the Rickenbacker 481 guitar, the 6 string version of this instrument?
I visited norms in the mid 90's it is what it is
Ron Azbill well that answers that , what that is I have no idea ,hahaha hahaha hahaha hahaha hahaha hahaha hahaha hahaha what?
Does anybody miss this guy besides me?
Notice how the Ric comes alive when you play it with a pick? That's how they meant to be played. That's when their sounds shines.
Today we got guitar of the day and word of the day, Esoteric.
Mark, you fucking rule dude!
Mr. Agnesi is there anyway you can do a “common” pre-war Marin D-28 in the near future? JR from North Carolina
I can dig it.
Mr.Stranger .....exactly.......
My ocd kicks in and I'm compelled to give you a like and I can understand it
nice to hear some silversun!
"Nothing amazing happens here. Everything is ordinary."
No plate over the neck pick up. Is this the edition that one might be tempted to go Larry Graham with?
I thought the Ric-o-sound output was a stereo output wired to each pick up independently so you could run the neck on one amp, and the bridge on a different amp, with a stereo to R L cord. ? Thanks for clarifying. Nice jams Mark.
geddy lee, lemmy, paul McCartney bass. love les Paul custom deluxe. fender stratocasters.
You tell em Mark !!
Yes, it's a Rick...which means it ain't a Fender. Fender, your one-stop-shop for all the bass tones you'll ever need.
I addressed this very dude , told him you had just done a ventures mosrite , a guild starfire ,a greer acoustic , a fender corando in the last two weeks, some people's kids tsk tsk
You should totally do a Norms Esoteric Guitars episode.
The Jacket is BadAss!
Well maybe Gordon Powers is new to the guitar 🎸 and uneducated on rare Gibson’s and fenders. I a fellow Canadian was lucky enough to stop by the shop last week to look at and strum some of these rare gems.
More Gibson’s and Fenders please
aloha from Hawaii!!
I had a 4001 Ricky, #396 (1967, I think). The second in Canada. Geddy Lee tried it out after a gig and bought one. Unfortunately, Geddy disappeared into the mists of time, while I've gone on to great fame and fortune (?). The bass was on lots of Casablanca and Capitol recordings in the seventies. By the way, it warped out in the back of vans travelling across Canada winter and summer. Neck through body, couldn't be straightened; I traded it in for a 72 Precision in 1976.
Ricky didn't loose the thumper?...F'n corny bro! :-0 1. Carl Carlton " She's A Bad Mama Jama" 2.Silversun Pick-ups "Panic Switch"..3. Metallica/Cliff Burton "For Whom The Bell Tolls" Your popcorn isn't ready..
Think that second one was “panic switch” by silver sun pickups
Jose Krinkle you done provided a strung thump assist..
Really nice Bass
Got one from 1975 in wine red.
I'm just gonna wait for the complaints from the Metallica fanboys about the lack of effects on For Whom the Bell Tolls.
Geoffrey Gentry lmao it’s not that, it was the actual playing, he played it totally wrong, but I think I understand why, in the actual bass track there is slap involved, and it is an older bass, so I completely understand why he played the way he played, so I don’t have a problem with it
or you could maybe do something better with your time, just sayin
Geoffrey Gentry you thought they were gonna complain about effects and dude took fanboying to the next level
Geoffrey Gentry I was more annoyed with him not letting the E ring out during the intro
Hear the silence SO LOUD!
Rad Ricky and as to the gentleman from Canada that wanted to see other rare guitars....what the HE double hockey sticks does he want to look at?
Hey mark its my birthday on monday could you play some srv one of these days please? Thanks from an american in Argentina🔵🎸🔵
Holy Cow, that’s a tree trunk of a neck!!
Could you explain the description “Jetglo”? Thanks
Shane Wise
Jet Black.
wow you're soooo good!!
The second song reminds me a lot of Panic Switch By SilversunPickups
