Just loving this channel. Always something to look forward to. Definitely intrigued on the Red and Blue TR vs OG.. But I am most excited to see the Black TR 5x vs your current gamer. Being a nerd I really enjoy the depth of your videos. Keep up the great work!
I have found with testing all of the TR shafts that the standard Ventus is great, but the TR just eliminates the need to tip cut the shaft to get a specific bend profile.
That's interesting, you must have brilliant access to these shafts to be able to test them all tipped and un-tipped! That's a lot of expensive shafts! And obviously access to a Trackman or quad to do a lot of in depth testing as well. Do you work in the industry?
Great to see some actual measurements comparing these two. Did you measure any difference in balance point/swing weight between the TR Black and original Black?
Great review as always. What's your take on tipping? I've tried velocore 6x on fitting not tipped and felt pretty good, and not soft anyhow. As a reference I use X-stiff in everything through the bag. I see almost every pro tip their driver shafts. Should I consider this?
Thanks Chuck. And I don't have any VF yet and personally I'm still out of action due to back problems unfortunately. But I will certainly be getting some and that would be a good comparison to be fair, so stay tuned 👍
Thanks for the reply. You're not alone w the back problems. I hope it's not too serious and you're better soon. Back issues is the reason I'm trying to go a little lighter myself.
Thanks Roger, glad you like the content. Well as we know shafts don't really change much about the launch and spin if your going to spend a good chunk of money on a shaft it's all about the one that fits you best, and you will never know without trying them unfortunately. I would never recommend buying anything off the back of one of my videos because you just don't know how your going to react to the shaft until you hit it. So yeah I would just say always get fitted
Im currently playing Black TR 7x in an LTDx LS and must be honest, it took me a bit to get used to. Still struggle with feel as it does feel STIFF but the results speak for themselves. I have always struggled with strike and path due to tempo and the shaft is nothing short of stellar! Hoping to try Blue TR some day.
That's a hell of a combo there Brian and I'm glad it's working well for you 👍👍 yeah I do like blue. Still very stable in the tip but gives you that nice feel from being a little softer in the handle 👌
I also ordered the tr 7x. what are your average speeds? Im currently 120-125 for club head, ball speed around 175 typically but i can climb into the 180s. have been curious if thats fast enough for the tr or if ill be replacing that
@@Nick-wm2wh it’s really all about the feel. The TR feels SLIGHTLY softer in the hands while maintaining the rigidity/stability of the black. I prefer the feel of the tr vs the standard because of that. I feel like I can lose the club head at times if my timing is off a bit, which also makes the TR feel easier to swing and time where if I’m not on my game the black can feel like work. ESP if I need to go after one. Gamer swing speed is 118-120 on average. I can push it to the upper 120’s but rarely do that on course because I tend to lose that ball left, with ball speeds of about 174-175 average. I have zero complaints with the combo. It will probably be the gamer for the foreseeable future. I’m hitting the ball better off the tee than I have for a LONG time. Hope that helps.
@@ftball90 Heck yeah it does brian. thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question. Based on what youre saying I think this will fit me perfectly. Pairing it with the Aerojet LS. Good luck this year, lets hit some bombs
you think black tr is easier to hit than the OG black? Im still deciding between the two Im afraid TR black with the overall stiffer profile its gonna be too fade bias
I wouldn't say either is easier to hit. All depends on the player. And a lot of times I find stiffer profiles go more left, not right. Again very player dependent. Only ever one way to find out what's best for you I'm afraid.....gotta get fitted 👍
I know getting fitted is the way to go but I’m currently using the Project X Hazard Smoke at 70 grams extra stiff. Club head speed is an average of 113. Out of the Ventus TR lineup, what would you suggest be the better shaft? Also, I’m currently hitting at 8 degree loft too.
JMHO and I am no club fitter by any means, but as someone that plays above 115 I feel as if tempo and delivery play more of a role than the profile that fits on paper. I got considerably more “feel” out of the OG Black, but still struggled with spin and strike. I actually played OG blue for a bit but fit into Black TR in my last fit, not the most logical choice in my mind but the numbers proved that it was the best shaft for my gamer. If I was tying to hit bombs in the sim I would choose blue all day long.

Thanks Purrly, always appreciate the positive comments and feedback bud 👍👍
Thank you for the detailed review. You deserve a lot more subs. Awesome info, always
Thanks BW 👍👍

Just what I was after, cheers mate👍
Have had multiple fittings and each head I've tried had best results with TR black. Buying one for my gamer TSR 2 and hoping for similar results.
Surely a shaft anchored at the butt gives the frequency of the butt? How can you measure tip stiffness by pivoting at the butt?
Cool intro!
Thanks Golf Hawk 👌
Very interesting test. Would you consider a Red vs TR Red showdown? It seems like the new TR Red has some serious ball speed in it.
Already filmed 😉....maybe not the outcome I expected ....
Great to see some actual measurements comparing these two. Did you measure any difference in balance point/swing weight between the TR Black and original Black?
There's a tiny bit but it's hardly anything. Nothing to really think about or be worried about it will make no difference

You're my goto for product testing and explanation of the numbers. Any chance on doing a head to head w Ventus TR Black 5X vs Graphite Design VF 5X?

Really enjoy your videos. Currently considering one of these two shafts or and accra gx red. Still waiting for that comparison video 🫣

Great video. When are you going to compare the black 5X versus the black TR 5X? I recently just switched over from 5X to the TR 5X.
Is it hard to hit 5x compare to 6x ?
Can i put black in my long irons, and which spec?
I'm swing at around low 90s with my mid irons

Did you take note of one or the Ventus blacks changed swing weight?
Think TR very marginally heavier from memory but you wouldn't feel any difference
