Agreed Sunita Narain Ji, request you to build pressure on Government to take drastic steps to reduce CARBON EMISSION, Can we initiate a POLICY to BAN at least ALL PRIVATE FLIGHTS & YACHTS to reduce considerable amount of CARBON EMISSION ?
No hard feelings. I don't wish to challenge your opinion but I feel that too won't help. Reducing carbon footprint can't help anymore that Threshold is reached. We must think of greater impactful steps like Initiating Matured Big Tree Plantations , putting reflective roofs etc etc. But First we need an Organisation that would bring people together as a community and train people.
That era is gone. Now the first priority should be adaption to climate change. Anyway till we stop our consumption patterns, no significant impact on emissions is going to be achieved by small steps like these.
@@chitreshrohitdutta6414 Agreed Ji, we need organisations as suggested, and If we are able to impose BAN on at least Private Flights & Yachts, THE MESSAGE will be Strong & Direct to all the Major Contributors
These Kind of Qualitative content & Awareness needs to be widely reached by the common public. So that, people can really know the such climatic phenomenon & it's root-cause of these climate change adversaries, so that we can somehow cope up & ready to face with the attitude of "Climate Resilience" !! 📚📖💐
In 1987 we had severe Summer in many parts of Central and North India. I had heat stroke though I was young and working as Group A officer in central India.
Madam Sunita Narrayan, how I wish your message reach each and every individual persons living in cities and many many, say more than 60% of villagers who have migrated and settled in city like Bengaluru... more aspiring for an easy way of life after they getting educated.... leaving their century old agricultural profession
Thank you for the beautiful presentation of such a horrific scenario. What we need is Policies and their proper implementation and on personal level, bring out the necessary changes in our life and implement those changes as much as we can..
Higher temps --> more elec consumption --> more elec demand --> more elec production --> more fossil fuel burning --> still higher temps --> Adaptation to such conditions is one thing. What can be done expeditiously? -- Green cover? -- Better building designs? -- More sustainable coolers? -- less fossil fuels? How? -- A life of lesser (conspicuous) consumption? Also is this a pan-India problem? Are Kerala and Mizoram also facing such heat, for example? Or is it more of a North India/Delhi thing? Looking forward to deep dives by Ms Narain/CSE...
Such an informative content should reach each and every corner of the world and most importantly awareness should spread at regional level ,where most people don't speak English. It's imperative for environmental activists to post such videos in hindi & other regional languages too. Such a concerning topic should be discussed in mainstream media so that from chai wala, barber wala to village people everywhere awareness spread & certainly that will pressurize govt to take breakthrough decision
I urge you guys to make this video with the same content in vernacular languages so that it reaches every nook and corner of the country. Very well explained 👍
Thanks for the information. Can we have some data to understand the viability of housing architecture changes in terms of cost. Like -data about increase in cost and by how much would it reduce the heat island effect ? Also, any research reference as well to back up the claim. Recommendations are good but some data points would be better. Since money available for climate finance is much lower than needed, any recommendation should also compare the investment with regards to other options .
Yes mam every flora and fauna has a temperature limit to adapt for exp of most of the crops need 15 to 30 degree Celsius t em, there the way global warming and heatwave make worseour life in terms of food security, nutrition, productivity of ecosystem, which has near while world economy depend upon.. I always painfull to see the egnorence😢😢
Very interesting presentation, Sunitaji. I have a question about going back to traditional architectural styles - courtyards, sunshades, et al. Taking our large population and limited space into consideration, is it feasible for mass housing in our large urban conglomerations to incorporate these features into their design? Do you have examples of buildings where this has been done? As an ordinary urban dweller, I’d be interested in knowing.
Mining ko ban karo, Aravalli range, Meghalaya hillls, Himalayan range are being mined for stone, coal, minerals, this will reduce rains, and increase temps
I am from kerala 2 months ago April may it was unbearable heat in kerala. So much so that AC sales crossed 100%. Now in July there is so much rain and landslide happened in wayanad killing 400 people. It was not like this 10-15 years ago.
Madam, can we prepare just from now to the next summer to actually reduce the dangerous effects of heat?? Are there some remedies which the general public may seek on their level to see results in just one year until next summer???😢🙏
Cooling should become a human right now. The SC also passed a decision that we have right not be affected by adverse effects of climate change under art 21 (mk ranjitsinh v UOI). Govt must be pressurised to invest into affordable cooling systems especially for the urban poor.
We need to collaborate and start a large-scale revolution today where people address how climate change affects us every year. Collaborate with influencers, start with campaigns, and community engagement and show how we can mitigate climate change risks. Let's work with the grassroots organization, government and local residents. We also can actually employ so many people if we focus on the issue of climate change. Let's do it together @Downtoearth
Cut more trees in the name of devlopment....then use coal based electricity to cool your rooms and houses, use more AC then necessary, then make video on RUclips to educate others.Nice🤯👍.Your education educates me very well.Waise raat ko chat par soya Jaa sakta hai apne room ka ac,cooler band karke.I am Not telling you to obey me,it's just an alternative.Isi bahane natural satelight ka nazara v dikh jayega.
This is my demand letter from Government of India . 1) Connect every forest like dandakaranya and nallamalla and saranda and terai through forest corridors . 2) Make new design for homes . A combination of mud house and a pucca house is best design. 3) There should be ceiling limit on holding of automobile per family. 4) Rainwater harvesting is must for every building and govt infrastructure. 5)The target of 33% forest is baseless and cannot give sustainable future for us . I believe 50% of landmass of India should be under natural forest with minimum to no human activities which is well connected to each other . Government can even impose Cess or ask for private donation in order to buy private lands in order to REFORESTATE lost jungles and corridors. 6) Forest Rights act should be amended and relocation of communities should be made easier. 7) solar power should be made more popular . 8) prepaid electricity meters will bring drastic change . 9) tax rebates to corporates who operate in green buildings 10)Revival of old perennial rivers like Sahibi will permanently solve problem of water in india . 11) Tourism activities in national parks should be on auction basis and only limited number of tourists should be allowed .
i agree brother 50% forest cover is reasonable... especially since government babus fudge data and call even shrubland and land with nominal tree cover "forests"
Put a ban on construction in our forests. Indias forest cover is decreasing that is the reason for this. Everyone wants to buy real estate and destroy natural land , ponds, streams, aquifiers and so on. Green cover is the solution and plating new forests won't help we need to conserve the old forests . Especially my home state uttarakhand in the name of development has been destroyed in the last 25 years since it became seperate state. So many dams, hotels, roads and buildings in hilly areas and unplanned construction in plain areas. NAture is striking back. P.S The new scientific consensus is that hydropower is not a renewable source as there is only so many rivers we can dam. Still NHPC is destroying the riverine ecosystems and has destroyed the Ganga and it's distributaries and tributaries. They even blew the aquifier which led to land sinking. Such is the state of our "maharatnas" aka babu government enterprises.
NGT is now useless Cutting trees for religious tourism is useless We need trees 🌴 🌴 😭 🌴 🌴 Stop unnecessary deforestation construction and deforestation

Did you know that overpopulation is the reason for all these changes ( more.carbon footprint )
Did you stop having children as your responsibility?

Great Ji , Thanks for all your guidance, but its 2024 instead of 2023.
How can I join the movement and create concious awareness.
Dhanyawad Ji..
Very great video and information thank you mam 👍

Vry enlightening
Such a nice presentation , I hope this will bring some change within us.
In short, use fan with ac. 28 degree setting is enough when the fan is running.

Concrete Metaled Roads High Amount of Vehicles on Road with ACs on Air Conditioners ......all adding to immense heat we are experiencing.
Very well explained, your work is very impressive mam
Thank you mam for this session
Very informative and alarming ❤

Extremely important
Maybe planting a small miyawaki forest every 2 km can be a solution to concrete urban landscape
Maam , Delhi has to follow Singapore and have a plan like SG Green Plan if Singapore can even Delhi can.
Thnx Mam
Excellent talk.
Thankq Ma'am...🙂🙂

Also the HFC gases used in these cooling devices are hundreds of times more potent greenhouse gases then CO2.
Madam, can we prepare just from now to the next summer to actually reduce the dangerous effects of heat?? Are there some remedies which the general public may seek on their level to see results in just one year until next summer???😢🙏
Madam how many plants have u planted before this show.??
I am planning to relocate away from Delhi. This place is unlivable
Put all these in architecture student syllabus and let's see it happen in coming 10 years.

Can we join an effective movement to pit pressure on Govt to take mitigative measures?
Ms. Narain ma'am every New Delhi citizen knows all this but still they use lots of cars.
