I'm really enjoying the story of your new narrowboat and wattching you fit it out. You're a great down to earth couple and hard workers too! Thanks for sharing your adventure with us, I can't wait to see the boat finished!
Thank you Bruce, Black Country born and bred. We like to keep it honest, wouldn't want to bamboozle everyone, there is a lot of that in boats already. We also hope that it gives potential boat buyers an insight into a boat. I do a lot with new boat owners, brining them up to speed on everything, I enjoy that. (Mart)
Hay guys just subscribed .watched all your blogs so far . Its all about team work and you two are defiantly a grate team. shush a down to earth cupel. thanks for taking us along
Instead of using a nail punch on the ceiling brads couldn't you just increase the compressor pressure slightly to drive the brads deeper? Looking great though. All the best from Australia.
Thank you, we are just clear oiling it, bring out the grain without changing the colour too much. And you can always reapply as a refresh, with varnish you would have to sand it.....No thank you on that one.
Hope your allowing for movement of the wood and expansion/contraction of the steel. I have seen Narrowboats with buckled panelling when its been fitted too tight to allow for movment
Hi, yes there are some spaces left for movement. Also the VT&G will not be continuous, will be ply behind kitchen units. Fitting when the shell is hot can be a real issue, but I wouldnt call it hot at the moment. Fair point though thank you.
If that is tongue and grove your putting up you do not want glue in the tongue or grove as its there to allow expansion and contraction of wood with weather. Wooden constantly is moving with weather.
Hi David, Thermowood is much more stable than normal tongue and groove and Oak. As it been through the process it becomes “fixed”, does not suffer warpage, shrinking and contractions as other materials. Boats mainly expand length ways in heat, and the run is none continuous. Our last boat also was fully bonded inside with no adverse effects. I also too advice from a chippy that fits out boats. So hopefully I’m all ok going forward. Like I’ve said before I’m a sparky so take the advice when on new ground. Thanks for your comment and hopefully you’ll keep watching.

@@narrowboatmoonshine "Handle"? Do I detect i'm speaking to an ex-CBer? ;-)
@@TheBeeryBoater ah may be dabbled a bit in the 80’s. Feels like a long time ago.

Hi Paul, thanks for commenting. Unfortunately no, when I do that the hammer leaves a large mark, much bigger than the nail head.
Just Found you guys and like your vlogs , looking forward to the next one,did you have the engine fitted in the sailaway deal
Hi Russ, yes the engine is installed, all sailaways will have that. Welcome aboard.
Overhead looks fantastic! Will you be leaving it natural or applying a finish? Looking forward to seeing it completed. Great work Martin!

I like the tongue and groove. Especially with it curved.
Thanks Bryan. Yes we are liking it too.
