    ✅Ingredients
    • 1/2 cup salted butter
    • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
    • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
    • 2 cups chicken broth
    • 1½ cups milk
    • 2 egg yolks
    • 1/3 cup heavy creamy
    • 1 cup frozen peas
    • 1 cup chopped drained pimientos
    • 4 cups chopped cooked chicken
    ✅Instructions
1️⃣ 00:00:13 - In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium-high heat. Add in mushrooms and cook until mushrooms are soft, about 5 minutes.
2️⃣ 00:00:31 - Add in flour and stir until there are no more specks of flour left. Pour in chicken broth and milk and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer until sauce is thickened, about 3 minutes.
3️⃣ 00:01:06 - For a richer sauce: in a small mixing bowl, whisk together egg yolks with heavy cream. Working quickly, slowly pour in 1/2 cup of the hot mixture into the egg mixture while whisking vigorously. Immediately pour this mixture back into the saucepan, whisking the entire time. Cook 2 minutes more.
4️⃣ 00:01:44 - Stir in frozen peas, pimientos, and cooked chicken and let heat through, 2 to 3 minutes.
5️⃣ 00:02:18 - Serve hot over cooked rice, pasta, toast, or biscuits.

Looks good, but I'll skip the pimentos and use red/green peppers and add onions and garlic.

Celery, carrots, spinach and onions. I add these and get a lot more flavor.

Made this lastnite. Only thing I did differently was adding sliced onion and carrots to the pan with the mushrooms. It was fantastic. Hell of a recipe!

Just made it and it was perfect, reminded me of been a kid. I worked in a small restaurant when I was 18 years of age as a waiter and we had it on the bar menu and it tasted exactly like that. Such happy memories, thank you so much.

This recipe is so 1950 but it is a golden oldie and it's back in style again. For a real 1950 "ladies luncheon" serve it over popovers that are split open and garnish with spiced red apple rings! (Google popovers if you are not sure about them.)

NO sherry 😳😳😳😳 what you just made is chicken in white sauce... Has to have sherry to become a la king 👍🤗

Great recipe and video. Thank you for keeping it so short. There are RUclipsrs that would spend 1/2 an hour with the recipe you just presented in 3 minutes! I'm looking forward to trying your recipe soon. Thank you

Hi, from the hill country in Texas. We love this recipe. Great presentation. Straight to the point. No crazy music background, and especially no lame stories on how a dear relative made this. We just subscribed and gave you a thumbs up.

Love this video for the amateur chefs who try at home. Versus everyone else advice this is a great tutorial for amateurs. But if you're reading this, 2 years later as of this writing. You can sub peas for broccoli. You can also add peppers, red to sub for pimento. But I also use a blend of white and red onion about a quarter onion each. Depending on your batch. Don't forget your celery and carrots (if you'd like). Don't over salt if you use store bought broth.

I made this and it is very good...never made a la king before. 2 egg yolks made the sauce a bit too thick; will use only 1 next time. I used 1/2 pkg (1 cup) of frozen peas/carrots, 1 celery stalk and 2 stems if green onion. I served it over a biscuit. My wife loves it. Thank you! 😊

Thanks for the yummy recipe. I made it last night over rice. Brought back memories of the 80s. Water it down a bit and you have a fantastic cream of mushroom and chicken soup. Much better than anything store bought. I love this woman's videos. They are to the point, well documented and her at ease style makes the recipes very easy to follow. Thanks again.

I made this no problem. I am a 36 year old Male and have never been good at cooking what so ever. I started watching your videos towards the end of summer and since then I have been really into cooking. You've changed my life. My family loves my (your) cooking. Thank you. Keep the videos coming and I'll keep making them.
