Not a single ad on the ice or the boards, so much less cluttered and easier to see the puck.
Season tickets first row behind Esposito. We had about as many buttons in the seats asafd back then
Looking at this brings back many memories, seeing players without helmets playing. The lack of helmets allowed fans to recognize who was who without knowing their numbers on their sweaters. You could tell just by their hair or lack thereof. This game is 42 years old now and the Stadium is long gone. (Remember the Roar) I was and still am a Hawks fan Tony Esposito was my hero and i played hockey as a goaltender and played his style, it wasn't easy but I loved denying opposing players goal through the old 5 hole. The game was much slower back during these times but this is also 42 years in the past.
Wow, a Larry Lozinski sighting! His only NHL season, and he actually won 6 games! (6-11-7). Went to a lot of Wings games back then, boy were they horrible! Always good to hear Bruce and Sid, thanks for posting!
Not sure who the Red Wings' backup that day was at 40:44 (Al Jensen or Claude Legris?), but he didn't even have a nameplate stitched on the back of his jersey.
@@skifusya2814good eye. I dug into some game logs . It’s Legris!. Jensens only start was in November 1980, he got lit up and spent the rest of the season in Adirondack, never played for the wings again . Rutherford was traded , and Gilbert’s season seems to have ended a week before this March 22 (injury?). March 24 Legris relieved Lozinski, and a few times in April as well, so Lozinski/Legris was the tandem from March 23 until the season ended.
Sure miss the old Norris division. I just can't get excited about a Hawks Wild game

Bulley is my favorite Hawk ever. Hutchison was as tough as it gets.and Ruskowski was a fan favorite

Plenty of empty seats for that game. During the 1980-81 season the Blackhawks were averaging 12 090 spectators per game.
I'd be surprised at that to be honest I had season tickets and the old stadium didn't hold many more than that
