Such a wonderful song, with the perfect voices for each part. Was it discussed that Tim would not blink the entire video? Please continue to do more folk songs - Irish, Scottish, and other Celtic historical songs. It was incredibly beautiful.
And Tim sings lower than that. I love that look on peoples faces when he hits that note though. HAHA You stick Peter and Tim together and you get awesomeness. They sing Bridge Over Troubled Waters, Sound of Silence and Greensleeves also. Peter also sings 19 You and Me with Home Free from both his side and Home Free's. 2 different videos. And Amazing Grace. Get these guys together and they blow you away. Thanks, I enjoyed this. ^_^
When you said, “… not even go to the basement. Go to the … depths of the basement,” I believe the location you were looking for is “the mines of Moria.” It’s entirely possible that the note Tim hit at the end traveled through time and space to wake the balrog.
One of the comments on the original video has a reply to the effect of "When the horn at Helm's Deep was blown it woke Tim, who was sleeping inside it."
Now that you’ve discovered the delightful Peter Hollens and his amazing song arranging, I suggest his Hobbit Drinking Medley featuring the one and only Hank Green! It’s a really funny one 😉 😂 😂
Brad note this was filmed at 2 different locations, Tim was in Arkansas and Peter was on vacation in the islands or something like that, but had to be put together, outstanding filming 👏
Peter Hollens competed on The Sing Off season 2, the year before Pentatonix, with the University of Oregon's a capella group On The Rocks. He's a prolific video artist, with a lot of collaborations. I suggest Disney Villains Medley with Whitney Avalon, another great you tuber. Their video is a lot of fun.
Your reaction was by far one of the best I've seen! 😂 Just the fact that you were momentarily speechless...walking out of the picture with reckless abandon, the chair falling over, etc. Then coming back when you "gathered your thoughts"... I will probably remember this reaction every time I hear the song. LOVED THIS!!
The other day, I watched a "bass battle" between Avi Kaplain, Geoff Castelluci and Tim Faust, and Tim's lowest fry note is a G0. Geoff has some awesome sub-harmonic notes though!
OMG! The faces you made after the choral part came in, then after Tim’s last note! He does look the part in the video! Peter is so talented, the videography, and those harmonies were so, so hauntingly beautiful! I enjoyed the reaction!!
Istg when you said you weren't ready for this yet, my instant reaction was "Bro.. It's barely the beggining.. Just wait man.. Just wait.." Rotfl! But then you reacted to the last note Tim hits and I was ROLLING!!! I swear I was like "IKR!?!?!?" 😂😂😂👌👌👌
I hope you get to hear Tim sing in a concert someday. My daughter and I took one of her (eight) kids with us a couple of years ago. He kept saying, "How does he DO that?" as our chairs vibrated . ;-)
Hahahaha! I loved seeing you fall out of your chair, so funny! This song was from the Lord Of The Rings movie. Now imagine in concert Tim doing notes like that last note through the subwoofers, yep it shakes the floor, your chair, and you feel those sound waves go through you. It's an experience.
Probably one of the better reactions I’ve seen regarding this song. Had to watch this twice, I laughed so hard during the first run. Thanks for the smiles.
Great, and unsurprising, reaction. Now you have heard one of his lower notes and heard some high ones in Mayday. Next, you could check out Amazing Grace with Home Free and Peter Hollens, In that one, you will watching effortlessly run from low to high. Thanks for the reaction, Brad. If you aren't there yet, you are on your way to becoming a Home Fry.
Nice reaction! We basses are so underrated! Not everyone knows the power of us, basses, but if they know it, they are in love with it! May BASS be with you!🤘💛
Tim in Misty Mountains hits an E1 Growl note but his lowest is an A0 as a growl but you can hear his A0 in Home Free's cover of Sold! By John Micheal Montgomery. But again still look up Tim Storms
I love your reactions. You "feel" the music. I'm the same way. Good harmonies will turn me into a quivering puddle of emotion. Shivers, chills, electric voltage through my entire body. Then add goosebumps and oftentimes tears. It sounds like it should be a bad thing, but it's soooo GOOD! I always come back for more! ❤
LOL!!!! I love Home Free reaction videos, but you have taken it higher because you are freakin funny!!! That was awesome! (Tim is looking at me like he's going to kill me!!!)
I loved your reaction and commentary. As others have said Peter loves to layer his voice and in this case Tim;s as well. If you want to actually see Peter's layering go to Mary Did You Know. Thanks again for your reaction.
This was also my first time listening to this, and I found it hilarious that around 4:50 we had essentially the same reaction in the form of "wow, those chords" lol
Peter Hollens has real gift for creating beautiful arrangements - quite often just with his own voice layered, but also working with other musicians. He does everything from Disney medleys to folksongs to computer game music, and it's all wonderful. If I had to pick a favourite collaboration with Tim, I'd go with his version of Greensleeves, but any of them would be a good choice. In the meantime, if you'd like something that showcases both Tim and Austin, it would be great if you could react to their version of Thinking Out Loud/Lets Get It On - two great songs for the price of one.
I love this arrangement! Its so good and it is an amazing song. If this made you react that way then you HAVE to look at Tim Storms' music! He holds the world record lowest note and you would be very impressed.
Intense is right! Tim and Peter created a masterpiece! Black is the Color of My True Love's Hair is a similar video to this -- Peter Hollens but with Avi Kaplan's beautiful bass notes. It's a must see (hear?)!!!
It's my understanding there were about 120 tracks in this one...Peter Hollens is a complete genius at layering, as well as a fantastic tenor, of course.
If you haven’t yet, check out Peter’s cover of Where No One Goes from How To Train Your Dragon 2. Such a light and fun song which showcases his upper register really well.
That dramatic fall was everything🤣 With that being said, you definitely should check out their cover of "SOLD" where he went lower that usual, with a fricken growl🔥🔥
If you dig the deep-voiced Dwarf music, you should absolutely listen to Clamavi De Profundis and their rendition of Song of Durin. They're a whole family of basses and baritones who really do Tolkien's Dwarvish poetry justice. And they will also rattle your skull singing so low.
Far over the Misty Mountains cold To dungeons deep and caverns old We must await, ere break of day, To find our long forgotten gold. The pines were roaring on the height, The winds were moaning in the night. The fire was red, it flaming spread; The trees like torches blazed with light. The wind was on the withered heath, But in the forest stirred no leaf: There shadows lay be night or day, And dark things silent crept beneath. The wind went on from West to East; All movement in the forest ceased, But shrill and harsh across the marsh Its whistling voices were released. Farewell we call to hearth and hall! Though wind may blow and rain may fall, We must await ere break of day Far over wood and mountain tall.
Loved your reaction to this one... it’s what I was expecting 😊. I’ve watched many of your videos and there’s something I’m not sure you’re aware of. Before you begin every reaction you say “Without further adieu”. The expression is “Without further ado” as in Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing- meaning “fuss”. Adieu is French for goodbye, and can mean a final goodbye where you do not expect to see the person again...I’m pretty sure that’s not what you want to say. I apologize if if it seems like I’m being too picky... I just wanted to make sure you knew.
Susan Horn haha I just say that word differently like that to be silly, I know it’s not the proper term. I have a theater background so I’ve done a lot of Shakespeare! Thanks for your support, Susan!
Since everyone is suggesting more Peter w/ Tim songs, I'll go a slightly different route and suggest Peter with Avi and suggest Black Is the Color of My True Love's Hair. Really, just more Peter reactions would be great. I saw Peter comment on another reaction that this was over 120 different vocal tracks layered together. I remember a Peter video with Lindsey Stirling that I believe said it was over 100 tracks each of vocals and violin.
My testing (3x) said it was a C0 others have said A0.... either way...holy shit! right? I also had a decent range or thought I did until Carol of the Bells and couldn't quite reach the final "bong" so was demoted and had to be happy with bass 1 to tenor 1. All that's even gone now thanks to boot camp.... ;oP
You should react to Peter Hollens and Tim Foust covering 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' by Simon and Garfunkel. That one will make you tear up. P.S.--Tim doesn't go to the basement, he's the express elevator to the earth's core.
If you like the combo of Peter & Tim, you try both Home Free/Peter’s ‘19 you & me’ (2 different videos/1 on each of their channels) & Home Free/Peter ‘Amazing Grace’!
since you LOVE bass and Peter Hollens...listen to Peter and Avi's song..."black is the color of her hair" (I don't know if that is the right title but I'm close).....tim is a master of arranging....
Who says Tim is human? I think maybe he's an escapee from Valhalla. And I say the same for Geoff Castallucci's take on the same song (title expanded to "Misty Mountains Cold").
Acapella groups have some really good basses with interesting techniques, but I still prefer the basso profundos, or the Russian oktavist like Vladimir Pasjukov hitting those notes in chest and projecting over a whole choir with no mic or amplification.
You get just a touch of Tim's awesomeness on this video. You can see just a little bit of vibration of the camera on that last note. To get an even better idea, watch ruclips.net/video/b1bunrhxIaM/видео.html "Tim Foust's Vibration". It will blow your mind about as much as "Mayday" did on the opposite scale. I agree on this song that the blend was AMAZING!! And to think it is just 2 people providing it only makes it more so. Keep these coming and we'll keep watching. :)
Glad you discovered these guys. I just found your channel and subb'd. If you want to hear the epitome (imo) of Home Free harmonies, check out Auld Lang Syne
Tim Foust does hit some impressively low notes, the lowest ones you can barely hear. His range goes from A0 to A5. But, have you ever heard of Tim Storms? He's the lowest base on the planet. Most of his range is inaudible to the human ear, so it has to be measured with special equipment. His lowest note is a G-7, which is just over seven octaves lower than Tim Foust's lowest note. Crazy to think about. :)

Pretty good? Huh? When these 2 pair up, it's nothing short of breathtaking! Home Free and Peter "pair" also ---- ummmmm........... same result. Always, always finish out the vids - many times they added info in them! ............... Oh!!! BTW ---- Peter and HF (individuals) do checkout reactions.
Glad you dug it bud!
Such a wonderful song, with the perfect voices for each part. Was it discussed that Tim would not blink the entire video?
Please continue to do more folk songs - Irish, Scottish, and other Celtic historical songs. It was incredibly beautiful.
Peter you have a very nice singing voice and this song was awesome and I am learning how to sing low notes and I am getting decent at it.
Peter Hollens is a master mixer. He can make himself sound like a whole choir. Him and Tim together? Butter for the ears. haha
Greensleeves is one of my favorites!
All great suggestions, Karen
Karen: Of course you did enjoy this. You've finally found someone else who falls out of their chair. :D ;)
@@Husitka lol
I believe his lowest note is F1
When you said, “… not even go to the basement. Go to the … depths of the basement,” I believe the location you were looking for is “the mines of Moria.” It’s entirely possible that the note Tim hit at the end traveled through time and space to wake the balrog.
This just proves that Tim Faust is not a human but is indeed a dragon.
One of the comments on the original video has a reply to the effect of "When the horn at Helm's Deep was blown it woke Tim, who was sleeping inside it."
Tim’s voice is a special gift from god
Now that you’ve discovered the delightful Peter Hollens and his amazing song arranging, I suggest his Hobbit Drinking Medley featuring the one and only Hank Green! It’s a really funny one 😉 😂 😂
One of my favorites! ... Guy
All vocals are done by Peter Hollen and Tim Foust. Also listen to Peter and Tim doing Bridge over Troubled Waters and Greensleeves.
I saw on another reactors channel, Peter posted and said 120 tracks on this song.
On that low note, he went to "Middle Earth" literally. My mouthful of pizza went out into the stratosphere at your reaction.... Great one hon..
Tim is the Beast Bassman just saying!😍🔥🔥🔥🔥Peters arrangements are CRAZY AMAZING 😉🔥😍✌🏽😍🔥😍Please react to More Peter with Tim!!!!🔥😍✌🏽
Brad note this was filmed at 2 different locations, Tim was in Arkansas and Peter was on vacation in the islands or something like that, but had to be put together, outstanding filming 👏
They had to find setting in each that would kind of match...
"That's not even a bass 2, that's a bass 7....maybe even an 8." Yeah, but his voice is a solid 10!
Soo good! «Black is the coulor of my true loves hair next»!!! Masterpiece!!
The "Disney Villains Medley" is one of my favorites, and Whitney Avalon can "sing"! ... Guy
Peter Hollen's colabs with Malukah on her original Elder Scrolls song Vokul Fen Mah and her other ES covers is awesome too.
Didn't they win, or at least get pretty far?
Your reaction was by far one of the best I've seen! 😂 Just the fact that you were momentarily speechless...walking out of the picture with reckless abandon, the chair falling over, etc. Then coming back when you "gathered your thoughts"... Tim doesn't blink once throughout the entire video. That's great acting talent also.

Sometimes the way Tim looks at the camera is frightening! Lol...some of that sounded like Gregorian chants..just lovely❤
