Peter is one of my favorite artists. There are like 120 tracks overlaid here. Peter is incredible at arranging and layering, and has an immense vocal range himself. Add in Tim Foust and what he brings to the bottom. Stunning.
@@hibob4453 was a long time ago that I posted this. But I remember Peter doing an interview about the number of tracks. Also, people in the comments (not that you can trust every source you read). But there’s definitely an interview where Peter talks about how he had recorded this originally without Tim. But then re-did it with Tim included and it added a whole new level with Tim’s resounding bass tone.
Not to be mean but I have to disagree with you Peter hollens is more like an ant hill as you follow him you'll find so many great artists you'll have to follow it's like a never-ending labyrinth of great talent
Be shook! It's okay. We all have sat in that shook chair. Yes, there a handful of gentlemen who can drop that low. Tim has a resonance, strength and clarity to those notes that really brings you in. Live...he makes your chair jiggle, your chest wiggle, and you feel like your heart's skipping a beat. He saves lots of those low bombs for their concerts. He has been known to short circuit the sound system. I am glad you are enjoying the music and talent of the acapella groups and artists. Lots of people do it, Home Free has mastered it.
Tim somewhat regularly hits A0 with ease. I don't know what he hit here, but he can definitely go deeper. Tim also regularly blows speakers at their concerts!!!
Peter is known for singing and layering many parts. You will appreciate Black is the Color of My True Love's Hair he does with Avi Kaplan formerly of Pentatonix.
Great reaction Thank you... 👍👍 i listen to Home Free every day, they just cheer me up. As always you're reactions are much appreciated, bless you, stay safe 👍😷👍
All of the background vocals are Peter Hollens. He has an exquisite voice and a huge vocal range. Before he did this version with Tim, he released a version of his own showing himself singing the various tracks that were layered together. He also sang the bass verses as well as those in the baritone ranges. You'd do well to review more of his work.
In another one of your videos I commented on, love them btw.......Tim's last note there, is why I mentioned Geoff from Voiceplay , mentioning learning that from Tim. Which is totally awesome of him to do.
And Avi (Aha Singapore.) After his low note the sound gets a little fuzzy, that was a blown speaker. Geoff, check out Voiceplay Moana Medley and The Oogie Boogie Song.
Love your reactions. You make sure to say something meaningful during your pauses. Many RUclips reactors blather on just to satisfy copyright restrictions. You do it seamlessly and I actually want to hear what you have to say (instead of ff). 👍🏼
After watching this, you should check out Tim and Peter doing a cover of Bridge Over Troubled Waters as Tim hit the same high notes as Peter. If you didn't know who Tim was,you would not think the same Tim was singing along with Peter in the same range.
When you get the opportunity to see fan videos of older Home Free outdoor performances you will see how Tim’s bass is so powerful that he literally vibrates their cell phones.
Hey Dave. That last note by Tim is a G1. Insane. Not a “growl” but he is using his “chest voice”. Peter said they had to lay down about 120 tracks for harmonies. Yes Tim has a ridiculous 5 octave range! Thanks for another great reaction Dave from a loyal new subscriber 🎷🙏🏼🇺🇸
You hit the nail on the head when you called Tim a dragon because the technique he used to hit that last note is sometimes called 'fire-breathing'. So, yes, Tim is a dragon.
Absolutely love your channel. Encouraging words and great content. Wanted to let you know that Tim is not done yet. You definitely need to check out Home Free's newest cover of folsome prison blues. As a bass singer myself Tim hits a note that literally brought me to tears. Please keep doing what you do.
Tim is an amazing talent. There is a video where he is tracked with a range from A0 to A5 and there is a video that puts him at C5. It seems to me that he is letting others know to check their manhood at the door, he is in charge of the bass.
I've never heard anyone be so clear with low notes as tim. Love how different artists are coming together for songs nowadays instead of being with one group only all the time.
When I listen to this song I always go back to the fact that it was dwarves who sang this song. I had been having a hard time to find a song that fit in with the vision of dwarves. However, in this song I can easily imagine Peter as a young dwarf before getting that barrel of a chest and the smoke from the forges affect their voice. Tim sounds like a middle-aged Dwarf that is in the prime of his life! Like you said this song does not need musical instruments. After all dwarves while working would use their voices and only the sound of them creating life at their forges!
If you haven't already, check out Do You Hear What I Hear by Home Free and We Three Kings by The Hound and the Fox with Tim. Those two songs will blow you away even more. :)
Tim’s is a tremendous bass. He is an elite singer with an awesome range. He tends to be featured with home free. Geoff in voice play is another great bass. Both sing down to first register and go lower down to subharmonic level. Tim, Geoff and Avi Kaplan are all tremendous basso profoundo singers with deep timbers.
Perhaps the reason why this song feels like it should be hummed and all, is that it is sung by the dwarves with minimal musical instruments in the book. It is actually part of what stirs up Bilbo's sense of adventure!

If you haven’t listened to Pentatonix’ original song “Natural Disaster,” you should, especially one of their live performances. Avi hits a low note that I think is as low as Tim’s here, or just about. He doesn’t sound human! It’s amazing.
Just so you know, J. D. Sumner was hitting notes lower than Tim or Geoff since 1945 until his death in 1998. When I saw J. Look up Thurl Ravenscroft. He sang for Disney when he lived and did the lowest notes used in many recordings. ( Think You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch) Tim could easily take over for him.
I believe that is a G1. Tim can go even lower to a C 0 . This is the same note he ends “Ring Of Fire”, with Avi Kapin.😱. Just give that a listen. It is like a bass sing off!👀 just look it up!
