    I have heard it's stress so many times!! Thank you for doing this video!! I'm so glad you did. I'm so sorry you have this pain! I didn't know! OMG! That is terrible you coming off the antidepressant. How scary! I had no idea about the vitamin D. I am going out in the sun tomorrow!! Thank you so much! I will let you know if it helps me. Wouldn't it be wonderful if all we need is sunshine! I'm going to get supplements too!! Wow..amazing!

      Sharon Wise I hope it helps. Sun in NZ was strong. I was out a lot. Of course during their winter they don't get as much sun because they are so far south but I went in their summer and the days are long. Do you remember The Beach Boys movie "endless summer"? I want to do that, minus the surfing 😄 and get your vitamin d levels checked. They might be okay. But if they are not I bet it explains at least some of the pain.

    Love your channel. As a chronic pain "fighter" myself, sometimes it has seemed that when physicians can't find a cure, they get distant and a little grumpy, as though I'm purposely not getting better. Your story about Vitamin D has given me another thing to research/try. Thank you so much!

      @@elliegoldie5902 I missed this comment! I have found it true that exercise helps a lot. It’s hard because you feel like you can’t do anything. I started “the perfect workout” which is a twenty minute 2x week resistance training (with a coach who makes you finish when you think you can’t) and it has also been helpful along with keeping my fit d levels up. I still get my levels checked about twice a year.

    Wow this is interesting to me. I suffer with episodes of pain which mainly strikes at night and disturbs my sleep. I've had numerous blood tests which always come back 'normal'. I do have autoimmune conditions - Hashimotos, alopecia etc. During the pandemic I was taking a vitamin D supplement and didn't experience a flare up. In recent months I stopped taking it and now I'm in the midst of a flare up! I'm going to try those supplements again.

    My sister has fibromyalgia. I have my own autoimmune issues, and I've wondered if I also have it. I am in pain most of the time. I've been gluten free for ten years. I probably have celiac disease, but I was tested after I went on the diet so it doesn't show. But, wow, I've been through similar things to yours. I was told it was all in my head too. My sister has said all of this too. Oh SSRIs! Lord-a-mercy, they were horrible for me. I took two types, and had terrible reactions. My sister took some of those two-factor ones. I took Neurontin for years, and coming off of it was a nightmare. I used a supplement to get off of it. Oh, this is all so familiar. Ugh. I now take a high supplement of Vitamin D because I'm so low. I did the high dose, and now I'm on the 2,000. I'm thrilled for you. I do feel so much better than I used to. Vitamin D is huge. Keep taking your supplements my friend. Also, I can't keep enough Vitamin B-12 either. I probably don't synthesize things very well because of my gluten intolerance. Hugs!!!

      L Schuman This is my issue along with a list of others. I took a blood test and I was informed my vitamin D level is 5. Normal levels should be anywhere from 50-100. So my doctor has placed me on 50,000 i/u of vitamin D3 once of week for 8 weeks, so we shall see. My back hurts to the point where I can't move like yesterday so hopefully I have found the reason for everything. I will be 38 Thursday and have been in constant pain since the age of 25.

    Terrific video! I totally understand where you are coming from. I have suffered from chronic pain and immune system issues for many years. The first time I was put on antidepressants to help ease the pain was almost 40 years ago. When I was in my mid-twenties. So happy to hear that Vitamin D is giving you some relief. I will definitely mention testing my levels next time I'm in for a physical. The antidepressants help some, but it would be so much better to not have to take them. Thank you so much for sharing your story. Take care...

      lobiddibol when I remember to take it. The sunlight helps best (not just sunlight but being in a high light climate) , followed by prescription strength vit D. The otc vitamin D not so much but since it’s daily (as opposed to weekly with the prescription) that’s probably from my not taking it on schedule

    It seems that some people may have issues (polymorphisms) with their Vitamin D Receptors (VDR’s) £ whilst they may be able to absorb it from the sun or from food or supplements they may not be able to utilise it very well at cellular level.
    Whilst it’s a good idea to have a Vitamin D test done, you have to bear in mind that the common serum blood tests do not show cellular status, only the storage form, so it is important to consider the symptoms. Those with VDR issues may need to take more to enable some to get through.

    Yay! Your story sounds so familiar! I was dx'd (as a college student) about 15 years ago by the pressure test (funny, the same time I'm moved from the W Coast to the E Coast...). I didn't want to accept I had it and kind of ignored it. It got worse and I was give Savella-didn't react well at all so I stopped it and thought I'd just deal with it like I always had (ignore it). It just progressively got worse to the point, it hurt if someone TOUCHED me. Ugh! I am currently not taking anything since the side effects of everything scares me; just like you mentioned about being dependent on something. I also started taking Vit D a few month ago for hair loss. I had severe stomach cramps so had to stop that. :( I'm so sore after doing simple task. It sucks! I don't know what else to do but enough about me! I'm really hoping this works for you. Please keep us all up to date and maybe I should try building up my Vit D instead of just taking a large dose like I did. What is your dosage? Why do so many of us WOMEN have this??

      Seaweede Starfish I was put on a prescription dose for four weeks, and now I take the otc 2000 mg dose, sometimes two. I have to get my levels rechecked. Do you notice a difference when you are back home in the sun? How is your sleep?

    • @seaweedeable
      @seaweedeable 7 лет назад

      My sleep is awful-wake up 3-4 times a night and sometimes I wake up and get some screaming cramp somewhere for no reason! It goes right away but I'm like, WTH??? Well, I dunno if I feel better when I go home or I'm just happier to be home. :)

    • @CrankyGrandma
      @CrankyGrandma  7 лет назад

      My sleep has always been awful-- but it seems to be part of that cycle. Less sleep, more pain. I sometimes take Ambien which does help me sleep, and that helps the pain, too. I was in New Zealand a good week before I felt the difference but it was a marked difference.

    Cranky Grandma. Interesting. I had malignant melanoma - a cancer - at 22. Believed to be caused by overexposure to the sun. I was very lucky and survived. I’m 62 now. I was told to avoid the sun, and I keep my arms, legs, head/ face more or less covered. I never wear short sleeves. So I don’t get to absorb any vitamin D - or very little. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia many years ago. I do recollect being told around 7 years ago by a physiotherapist that I should get tested for vitamin D. It was a kind of new bit of medical thinking that it might be involved in pain. So I got tested and was very vitamin D deplete and I was prescribed it in tablet form. I can’t remember feeling any better, but I don’t think I monitored things very carefully...What the heck, I’m going to give it another whirl - after all, nothing to lose, and maybe something to gain. IF I remember I’ll write a comment on this channel in a few months time - or anyone reading my comment is welcome to kick me up the pants if I haven’t done a comment then! I’ll do the same amount as my doctor gave me - need to check that one...
    I tend to develop theories along the way - as I think a lot of suffers do - and I think where I’m at at the moment is that I tend to think the body/mind maybe overwhelmed in some way - whether emotional or physical, or both.Stress, reaction to events, or maybe continuous pressure of some sort. So the body just reacts. And if you can’t give it time to heal and really look after yourself you never quite make it. I’m London based and there are a few private clinics here using Functional Medicine that have had real success with either getting people a lot more well or cured. The approach is stringent, and involves diet, relaxation, looking at what the body lacks using lab tests and so on. If I had the money I’d definitely pursue it. My biggest success to date was when I was on a plant type diet about 6 years ago. I kept it up for about a year and had more energy than I’d ever had, But my circumstances changed and I gradually started reaching for the cream nuns ( oh what a great typo - I’ll leave that one in ! ) cream buns and chocolate to comfort me through a bad patch. Since then I have failed miserably with the diet. You have to stick at it whole heartedly. No exceptions allowed. I completely excluded wheat and sugar. Anyone interested could look up plant based diets. Not for the faint hearted, but if it gets you more well...
    Hope some of this might be helpful to someone reading this. First time on your channel and I enjoyed listening to what you had to share. Thank you!

    OMGOSH! I found this video by ACCIDENT! I have suffered from pain in my body, fatigue sine I was a kid. My mother used to give me “ Geritol” when I was a kid because the doctor told her I was anemic. Tested for depression age 30. Age 40 diagnosed “SEVER OSTEOPOROSIS!” Age 50 Fibromyalgia but I didn’t believe anyone anymore. After a bad fall my doctor wanted to do a blood work up off Vitamin D...and I blew that off because I thought what’s THAT have to do with my low back pain, pain down my legs, up my neck and so on. I live in Indiana, which we just had (still having), the worst winter we have had in years! Well, I am going to make sure I get my Vitamin D blood work done within the next 2 days! I do have to say MANY doctors have told me to move to a warmer state. My sisters did and they say their health have improved GREATLY! Thank you so much for this video! Thank you so much!!

      Faith Jones they tested me for anemia lots....my iron was fine. I don’t think until recently modern medicine sought out d deficiency, but that’s probably because people used to get a lot more sun just in daily life. Now kids are cooped up in school from before care through after care, and from youth don’t get sun

    My vitamin D level was 14, can we talk? I want to see if your symptoms mask mine. I also did a genetic test and I have MTHFR mutations for VDR Taq and BSM +/- which is Vitamin D receptor.
    I also was diagnosed with sosomatic disorder
    Also did you have shoulder grinding in weakness also that did go downwards? Like my shoulder grinds when moving it like sandpaper PT cant find the cause i think its vitamin D, did your shoulder pains go away? Im 24
    Also if you research Vitamin D is technically a hormone and interacts with serotonin and dopamine etc.
    How are you doing now?

And my vitamin d level is 12.... Dr never asked me for a bit test but can my chest pain and other pain all around my body and specially my wrist and my feet can be a sign of vitamin d deficiency... Can vitamin d deficiency at a level of 12 be so severe

      I realize you weren't asking me but I must say your question caught my attention. I was diagnosed in the 80's with EDS and was just told I might have Fibromyalgia as well. I have had several MRIs w/contrast and without as well as numerous xrays and camera probes and operations over time. They say these have no overall effect on a person but that cannot be true. I also remember the contrast making my whole body ache but figured that had to do with my EDS at the time. Maybe your question was for other purposes but it sure triggered several memories from my path of health discovery. What do you think? I would love some more ideas if you have any!

      @@mayaflynnster no, you hit the nail on the head. I had two MRIs with contrast and am very ill from them. For 6 months I've been dealing with numerous symptoms, at times I can barely walk. I have swelling through out my body and it feels like my tendons are tearing from my bones. Every dr refuses to test for gadolinium, the metal in the contrast dye. There's one place Dr's data, but you need Dr's approval. I joined a yahoo group about this matter, MRI gadolinium toxicity group. The whole medical community is in denial that this causes problems. Somehow I missed this! Answer is no. I’ve had fibro since about 1969 to 1970 and that was before MRIs were invented I think! They didn’t have a name for fibro back then as I indicated in the video. They have me all sorts of diagnosis for the symptoms later diagnosed as fibro

    12 Cell salts or tissue salts of homeopathy are part of the answer to these problems. Do a thorough research on these . Read books on amazon and youtube on these for insight.
    Study about water memory or water structure and learn how it is associated with homeopathy.

      That’s really low! It’s hard with covid to get out but can you get some sun? The doctor should be able to prescribe vit d at a high level. That helped me quite a bit and it’s a good covid defense as well. Things definitely get better when those levels are raised

      My experience with fibro is it has flare ups. I'm used to a low level of pain all the time, but there are times when pain and fatigue are worse and times when they are better. Sunlight and exercise seem to be the best things I've found, as well as a good diet. Also-- sleep. Which is difficult. But when I was out getting sunlight and walking in New Zealand, pain faded in about a week and three weeks in there was a massive difference. the vit D capsules help, but when i'm off the prescription my levels drop fairly quickly.

    So what is the situation right now? Is pain gone? Did vitamin D work?

    • @CrankyGrandma
      @CrankyGrandma  6 лет назад

      When I take the prescription level of D, I get a change after a few weeks. the prescription is daily so I remember to take it. After 8 weeks of prescripton you go to over the counter daily-- which I confess I forget frequently. (smacks self in head). Being in the very high UV places (New Zealand, Hawaii...) did better than the supplement. I also, upon getting my bloodwork, found my levels didn't go up a whole lot with the supplements. I'd have to get them checked after being in a very sunny area for awhile to see if there is a difference. But I'd say the best change is with natural UV light, second best (noticeable) is with the prescription level, and it's inconclusive with non prescription because I forget to take it daily. DEFINITE and NOTICEABLE difference with natural UV light.
