I love the fact that while listening to radiohead it's so often like "hmm ok" in the beginning and slowly you start to be like "woah this is better" and finally "holy fuck this song is amazing"
Sums up their discography. They’re the perfect band, intrinsically syncopated.
A friend of mine tried putting this feeling into words by saying that they have the same musical hype curve as anime openings lmao
I love this comment
totally agree
You kidding? I thought this was beautiful from the opening piano chords.
My orchestra teacher is a Radiohead fan, and we were going to play this song for a concert, so I listened to this song a lot so I could practice it easier (I play violin, so I played the singing) I ended up loving the song, and was very disappointed when we ended up not being able to play the song because it was too difficult for the other students, I believe I was one of the few to get quite good at the song. This song got me into Radiohead, and I consider it one of my favourites
Awesome story, thanks for sharing! I’ll bet most of Radiohead’s music would sound incredible played by an orchestra.
This is definitely an S tier Radiohead song for me. Cool story hope the orchestral rendition worked out. Would be cool to hear it on YT
It never did unfortunately but I still have the sheet music
@@keeganwoodward1952 You could do a violin cover :)
@@keeganwoodward1952You should cover the violin section of Burn the Witch. I don't play violin though so I don't know how difficult it is though.
I've always considered Radiohead to be masters at writing the "anti" pop song. It makes no sense to your ears at first, but the more you put into the song, the more it gives you back - exactly the opposite of a pop song, catchy at first and grows old fast. That is why Radiohead will never go out of style I think, or hasn't yet!
Underrated comment. 👆
Your concept of pop is very narrow, as it seems
very well put, rodeobillis
Perfectly put
Word sir. Word.
Jason Bateman couldn't resist using radiohead for ozark again, great scene
Killer Kuerbis using Decks Dark in the very first episode of the show is what hooked me. It’s my all time favorite Radiohead song. And Ozark is such a good show
Season One, sealed the "this is going to be a great show" when they ended with Decks Dark.
Great form, sir
omg , imagine if he used Idioteque in the show, Who's in the bunker? Who's in the bunker , women and children first..
Love Ozark but jb doesn't choose the music
Their musical composition is fantastic. Decks dark, the daily mail, paranoid android. Their ability to change themes/tones mid-song so seamlessly is a testament to their musical calibre.
my only problem with radiohead is that they make great songs like this and then they don't put them on the album.
true, all their b-sides are great
ratchet t. single*
singles AND b-sides :D
It wouldn't of fit on The King of Limbs, very different sound.
I think they do because they think in a whole concept to make an album, these songs are great like many others B-Sides from other recordings, but for any reason that songs could change their "album trips" and change final result
There's a point where I just listen and shake my head and get kinda mad. Like...how the fuck are these guys so unfalteringly, unfailingly, so perfectly amazing.
+George Guelis and imagination :)

Radiohead is so good that its difficult to have a favourite song
Big fan of Radiohead but didn't know this song existed. I was watching Ozark and I started hearing it and I was like "that's definitely Thom Yorke" and now I'm here. It's crazy how they made a lot of great song that are not in their albums
SAME!!!!! I was distraught I hadn’t heard it before lol
Yup.
I too have been a Radiohead fan for decades and didn’t know of this song until watching the ozarks
It was so perfect for Wendy’s scene
Surprised me too. Radiohead will go down as one of the greatest bands in history for what they're known for, and then there are all kinds of hidden gems like this one. It is one of the best songs of theirs I've ever heard, based on the many metrics that make a Radiohead song great. Its up there with Pyramid Song, Everything in its Right Place, You and Whose Army and the countless other amazing songs. But this one managed to slip past and was discovered in other ways.
Ozark for me. That sh*t was POWERFUL.
It's in a first season episode of Legion, too.
and it a fucking live version, sounds too perfect
+Nicolás Bugueño Oh, shit. I never realized! Holy shit
They sound better live then most musicians when they're in a recording studio.
Nice !!
Well, in this case, it was live in a recording studio!
Sublime placement in Ozark's "Wartime." From the ethereal nostalgia of a homecoming to the looming chaos of Wendy's criminal aspiration
Or selfish quest for power
In season 1 Wendy explained that in her youth she would invade houses in pretense of another life but in a fit of rage not being able to really live the fantasy wrecked the house like she did with her prior home this season. They did a great job with her character.
Superior moment tbh
Ozark season 3
They use this song in season 1 of Legion where David (an escaped mental patient) who has omega level mutant powers obliterates an entire compound full of soldiers.
Becoming one of my favorite Radiohead songs
Alex Desmall I'm sad
same here
Texxas cobain we all are
The Daily Mail, Decks Dark and Creep are my absolute favorites from Radiohead. 🔥🔥🔥💯
For those who don't know much about Radiohead but like this song, try You and Whose Army and Exit Music. Both have that same slow/quiet-to-aural orgasm structure and that extraterrestrial mystery.
I agree, they're both an explosion of shivers along your back.
ah, i need more!! : (

This song was played on Legion it fits perfectly.
THANK YOU! After hearing it on Ozark S3E1 I was like "this isn't the first time in a TV show I've heard this". Was doing my head in for a bit.
I feel like no one has seen Legion
@@Waterspons Unfortunately, you're right. It's easily the best show I've ever seen, but most people passed it by. I am confident that in 5-10 years, it'll be recognized as the masterpiece that it was, and develop a bigger following.
Legion the daily mail
It starts like a Beatles' song and somehow along the way it becomes a Radiohead song...
and a taste of Rolling Stones...
spaceboy2095 the beatles didn't had Thom Yorke's voice and they were too gready to be a band. Radiohead is their own sound. Beatles is their own sound.
Aldo Mc Sorry but I don't really see the Stones in this one, let alone the Beatles. I think this song really is the Radiohead sound being that it is pretty much a rehash of "You and Whose Army?"
Daniel Moctezuma
yes! I can relate to that!!
Daniel Moctezuma Please listen to a song called "Isolation" by John Lennon. It's almost the exact same song. So yes. It was a Beatles sound.
Wow. This is definitely one of their best songs! I feel ashamed for only finding out about this song now.
Who's here after watching ozarks season 3 lol

Can we all agree Legion has a fucking awesome soundtrack?
We can agree it's a fucking awesome show with a fucking awesome soundtrack.
It's probably my favorite first season of any show ever. Also the music is truly perfectly chosen for it. Even the OST fits is composed exactly right.
I think I watched the series 3 or 4 times. David's false memories totally fooled me until the end. So I watched it again, what was real and what was fake.
@@michaelsharpe4217 i really love the first half of the show, but i feel the second less good, what do you think?
This song is phenomenal. I can't tell why they didn't feature it on one of their albums, because it's definitely good enough.
Owldude000 They're saving it for later hopefully
It's not a matter of being good or bad (of course I agree, it's great), but a matter of fitting into the concept and music style of the album. Look at True Love Waits or Nude, for example: those songs are at least a decade old, and they were released officialy many years after being composed.
Like Spectre, is one of my favorite song by Radiohead, but it doesn't feature in any official album. Its sad but hey!, at least we can listen those songs in Streaming Services, it's something I guess.
@@marioi.carrillo6264 Same for Ill Wind man.
The beat drop at 2:21 is the best thing I've heard this week
YEP that’s when you get engulfed into the Radiohead sound vibe warp-hole
Hearing this entire song in episode 5 of Legion was one of the best moments of TV watching in my whole life.
Andrew Swan same it was so pervectly chosen to fit that scene
That’s why I’m here
Always feels like something is missing from the song but the song ends and u look back you realise what a perfect song. Id give everything to listen it again for the first time
Almost 4 minutes long but it feels like this song has so much more to give. Wish i could listen to it forever
I could listen to this song all day every day

miranybeetle This has a Lennon feel
miranybeetle 2019 “Respect and dignity.” Furthermore: (“Respect and dignity!!”) • “Respect and dignity, 2019?”
I am both Radiohead and Legion fan. I was blown up when this song came in Legion ep5.
This was the perfect song choice for episode 5 of Legion.
A Radiohead Anthem: the bitersweet tempo, the increasing power, the Sir Thomas Yorke voice explosion, the wind instruments section coming out of nowhere, the haunting ensemble of the band, the beauty of the poetical images, the rage of the political demand, the hunger for takin down the establishment here put under a sensationalist newspaper but anyway the figure of the perverse power, the outro humming the threaten of that warning, the need we feel for having the song keep sounding for hours in ethereal loop. Haven't seen yet Ozark's and Legion's chapters where this sounds but I'm on the way. Radiohead is the most wonderful artistic experience rock can deliver. Unspeakable.
Wow what an incredible post. You’ve done the band justice, sir.

Being a classic rock fan, sometimes I wish the bombastic moment woulda lasted longer and had an epic guitar solo, but then I realize this is Radiohead, and who the fuck am I to tell them how to make their music better? It's already perfect x)
David Rodriguez Yeah this isn't Bon Jovi or something(not an insult, trying to prove a point), Radiohead play by their own rules. They don't have a staple style or a sound. They are all over the place which is one of the things which makes them amazing.
I wish this song lasted 10 minutes or so!
your comment is contradictory to itself
Aww, David Rodriguez, what a cute comment! I know you made it 5 years ago, but I just had to say this, haha! xx
Gotta leave em wanting more :)
Rest in peace all members of Division Three
I've always wanted this song to be used for a film or show. And then Legion happened. And I can die happy now.
First time hearing this. Holy shit this is good
Maybe it's because it's 1 am I'm having these deep thoughts, but I just love Radiohead. They really never disappoint. And sometimes I obsess over one song, even if it's older.. and right now it's this one. They're just beyond words..
I should sleep now😛
You don't have to be high to appreciate good music.
Who's high?

the power of david (legion) brought me here, an amazing song!
They'd make a fucking corker of a Bond theme
Too right they fucking would! But only when he gets blown to smithereens, final instalment, and everyone leaves the cinema traumatised and in tears. Hurrah!
+Will Neill Nice profile pic bro
+Will Neill Listen to Man' O War, it's just a couple drops away from being a bond theme

i have a feeling jason bateman really likes radiohead, the two episodes that have radiohead songs were directed by him
in legion series that song was really awesome adapted in ambiance
I feel like this is what my soul would sound like.
This is a gem of a song. Definitely feels like something from the OK Computer times.
Not a fan of of King of Limbs I reckon?
Meh, it is a decent album. VERY difficult to like though, but it has a few good songs. This is a fairly recently released song so I was thinking maybe it's the shape of things to come? But that's doubtful. Radiohead like to change constantly by the looks of it, and this is style is too familiar to keep.
John Doge
I listened to The King of Limbs while driving to the beach on a dry clear morning. It made the most sense in that context. At that point the album really clicked and I ended up loving it.
BananaSquid
Yeah I've been studying TKOL a lot more recently, and I have to say that it really starts speaking to you after a few listens. It's the type of album that you'd be called a weirdo for listening to though, but it doesn't bother me because I found it really suits a particular type of mood, and when in that mood I just don't care. I now accept the album, but it is far from Radiohead's best, mind you it's not like they're trying for that. I wouldn't call it a concept album at all, but the songs have a very similar flow and feel.
I'd say it has the chords of hail to the thief but voice line/melody of OK computer for sure.
Right now this very appropriate.
Matias Flores fuck me I know right.
if by appropriate you mean a media completely sold out beyond all recognition to vet for one presidential candidate over another and lie and lie and lie and lie..... and then when the one they were paid to promote doesnt win, they all throw hissy fits?
If you can't see both parties were fucked I don't know what to tell you. The DNC summoned this demon when they shut Bernie out and burnt their constituents out on fighting their own party. The DNC didn't represent their people so their people lost faith in representing them at the polls.
I didn't vote for either but you cannot deny the MSMedia was harping positive on one particular candidate over another and going overtime to demonise everyone else. It is usually not so transparent as this time.
james woods "dnc didn't follow the will of the people". I super humbly suggest maybe you are viewing it from a slightly socio-ethnocentric view.
Clinton won majorities in all minority communities, and I think in all ages except for the young white vote.
The majority of the country is centrist.
She won by 4 million votes.
No doubt the DNC worked against Sanders and for Clinton in a totally unethical way and I wish they would clean house, but I think it's honest to say that "the people" wanted Clinton.
I wanted Bernie, but I think much of what said about Clinton is lies, and that she would have been a 1000x better president than Donald "no puppet, no puppet, you're the puppet" Trump.
Would have been absolutely perfect on Amnesiac
***** It's quite amazing this is a B side.

I don't know what kind of musical magic they use but when it hits 1:38, this song takes off Radiohead-style real good. So good.

Quite Agree. I've long thought I'd do surgery on it to make it at least 5 min.
No easy feat.
Came here after watching the episode on Ozark and wondering what this great song was. Googled it, and here I am. Now I realize that the whole purpose of me watching Ozark was to discover this song. If I had to describe it using other songs I might call it a mixture of "I am the Walrus", "A Day in the Life", "You can't always get what you Want", "Gimme Shelter", "Sexy Sadie" - and a whole lot of others, possibly. It is an encyclopedia of the essence of pop/rock. And even succeeds in being original.
Holy crap now you’ve said it I can absolutely hear all of those songs in this. Especially I am the Walrus
Bro listening to this on the hood of a car at night looking at the stars baked as hell is quite the experience.
I'm feeling this Thom. Every song has its season. Let's go to space together, no homo. I love you guys.
I just LOVE how this track builds. One of my favorite Radiohead songs. I just wish it were longer.
David ...
The build-up and the climax has to be the most badass, sexiest and smoothest thing any band has ever done to my ears.
This song feels like a mix of Life in a Glasshouse and Pyramid Song, with a little Go To Sleep thrown in for good measure. I love it.
The show "Legion" (Chapter 5) brought me here but already loving many of their songs, I'm sure I would've gotten here sooner or later

This and Staircase are so fucking good, I love the build up in this. So underrated!
I listened to this song before but I took notice of it when I heard it on The Legion.
Playing this song in drop c is so much damn fun! I'm sure it's in a different tuning (considering the added instrumentation) but still, such an earworm riff at the end.
The thing about Radiohead is u never get tired of their songs..
No matter how many times u listen to them. This song is one of them...
I love that my brain started singing this song this morning and it took me a few seconds to remember its name.
This song is so good I play it on loop sometimes.
