Very exciting to see triathlon come to the 200 series! Up to this point I think that was a hole in their line up.
I’d love to see the event feature come to the instinct 2.

I really wish the 255 was identical in software to the 955. I love the 955 but I want the size of the 255! Garmin can easily factor in the same operating system/maps and hotkeys of the 955 into the 255 but they don't because the trackers are on different tiers. I'm a Fenix 7x owner but don't want to always wear the fenix and its a nice to give the wrist a break sometimes. Just wish they offered a smaller 955 or the 255 with same exact software as their higher tiered devices.

Garmin, if you're reading this, I'm pretty sure many Forerunner users would love a solar powered 200/700 series. Personally I believe most people don't really need the more advanced features like maps or A.B.C, but a solar charging feature on the next iteration of the 200/700 series would be awesome. Thanks!!

645 and 745 don't make any sense now. My only gripe with 955 is there isn't a small version. I don't like big watches, but everything else makes sense. I have 245 now and I'm not feeling upgrading to 255.

I still use my 645. Only comes off to charge. It does what i need. It measures my distance and thats all i kinda need these days. Thinking of upgrading though because i stopped caring about my pace and concentrate on my heartrate and i think the sensors will be better on the newer watches. The 255 is definitely appealing but i like the idea of real time stamina monitoring on the 955.

Do you know if that enables route finding through a pre-made route from Garmin Connect or Strava routes. I use this a lot on my 935, which is due an upgrade, but if so, I don't see the need to jump to the 955 as the 255 would do everything I need it for.

I have a small problem, and you may help me, here's what it's all about.
I bought Vivosmart 5 and I tested HR at the same time, for about an hour, with an apple watch and HRM-Dual Chest Strap on a Garmin Tacx smart trainer in Zwift. The results had not even close. HRM-Dual and Apple gave one result (166 BMP) and Vivosmart 91BMP. HRM-Dual had activity on Zwift, but Apple and Vivosmart did not. I ask around and didn't find the right answer to what could be the issue here. I also change Vivosmart for a new one, and I had the same results. They told me, you have to turn on an activity to have correct results. I said Ok, but what in a rest mode? similar answer. Garmin has to have 99,9% accuracy. Put in other words, we can not help you.
I also wanted to buy a better watch, Fenix or Runner, and then I realized, maybe on all Garmin watches HR algorithm works like Vivosmart (If you ask me, totally incorrect and the whole data about stress, battery energy, etc is incorrect) and it will be waste of money.

So could you please test any of Garmin watches in a way: On one watch turn on activity and on the other, not. Check watches from time to time to compare HR on both watches and please tell me the results.
    thank you so much :)

@@zfjames Interesting, thanks for sharing your observation. I emailed Garmin support and they acknowledged the screen clarity difference between the Fenix 6 and Fenix 7, attributing it to the touch layer. It’s slightly less clear on the 955 due to the solar layer but in my opinion I don’t think it makes a big difference as the 955 is still very readable in all conditions. Kind of like, if you see them side by side, sure, but if not you probably wouldn’t really notice. Thanks!

Looks like the 255 can even be an upgrade for 745 users.
It’s a sad that garmin choose not to give some of the software updates to the normal 945. And just update the LTE. I think that giving software upgrades is something that keeps users inside the garmin ecosystem. And even bring some new users that buy the used watches when another user upgrades to the new model.

Desfit said they were likely updating the LTE here in the comments. As for the 945, it's running on a (in the tech world) much older interface, sensor set, and HR sensor from literally 2019. Not going to be able to support the new features
