Love the comparison. My 2018 Cummins is my 4th Ram but my first without a Hemi. I'm in love with the diesel. Still learning about them, but a channel like yours makes me less stressed. Keep up the great work....and thanks for your service.
Thanks Tom i appreciate the support.
Love my Fully delete 2014 ram..bone stock mega cab slt..no cursing..not a 17 year old kid cursing, rolling coal and weighs 60lbs soaking wet..Great video ..suscribed
I just bought a 2016 Mega Cab Laramie. I love it! My last truck was a 2003 Quad Cab with the 5.9l Cummins. I loved that truck too, but it didn’t have anywhere near the power that my “new” truck has.
I was an equipment mechanic for 2 years with Los Angeles City Fire Department when I started my career with the City in 2006(I've since transferred to road construction with the City). We had a huge fleet of 6.0L powerstroke van chassis ambulances and pickups. Oh how they sucked! You always had to lift the damn cab on the pickups to get anything done. The vans had better access because of that doghouse inside but it still sucked. I learned a lot there and I swore I'd never own a Ford. I also used to drive Ford 7.3 and early GM Duramax wreckers from 2000 to '06 and they were all good but nightmares to work on. LAFD has since switched over to Cummins powered Rams and so did the tow company I worked for. They really are that good. I'm proud to own one. They are not only easy to work on but also a joy to work on. Very satisfying. And they drive good too.
6 in a row ready to tow need I say more! Great video 👍👍
My first big truck was a 97 F250 extended cab long bed with a 460 mpg sucked. Traded on an 06 Dodge 2500 Cummins quad cab. Ended up going with the short bed cause I like the look but damn I miss the room. Had it for ten years was a damn good truck but I got the itch for a bigger one lol now I own a 2012 4 door long bed Laramie deleted with mini max on 35's and couldn't be happier
I miss my 3rd gen. It was an awesome rig. Another point with the Cummins trucks - only one of the big 3 to offer a manual trans up to 2018.
E. K. Yeah if i was going to build another lifted truck i would def go with a G56 truck.
Man! I worked on planes as well (awacs E3) at Tinker from 09-15’. I couldn’t afford one while I was enlisted but now drive the same rig (2018 Ram 2500 Mega cab Laramie.) it’s still stock for now due to the fact I’m in California and, well... enough said lol. I’ve sub’d to your Chanel and debating on making one of my own to show the transformations as I make them. I’m still a newb to the diesel world, this is the first one I’ve owned and my knowledge on them is limited but I’m learning by watching Chanel’s like yours.
Domoni Horton man that’s awesome to hear. I really appreciate the kind words. Go ahead and start a channel man. That would be awesome. We all start some where. I just started learning about diesels about 3 years ago. Hopefully I’ll see it soon.
We need an OKC meetup!
Enjoy listening to your thoughts on reliability because that is why I bought my 6.7 Cummins
BS Patrol thanks man i appreciate it.
Agreed and thanks for the content my guy.
I’m not 100% sure on this, but I heard that the Ford & Chevy 6.7 have aluminum heads. That might be the reason for Ford’s head gasket problems. Aluminum doesn’t heat up the same as cast iron. That was the one problem with the 5.7 HEMI - I know because I had a 2004. Let me know if I’m wrong. Thanks for a great video. I have a 2015 RAM 2500 Mega cab 4 x 4 with the 6.7 Cummins - I wish that I had bought one way before I did. Great truck!
just got my first 6.7 and did a few mods. 21 with cp3. Cat filters are next
Looking at buying a 4th gen Cummins. Im in Oklahoma too. This past week has been wild.
4th gens are awesome mines a 2012 pre def ;-) but the 5.9 is pre emissions so it is a better modding truck
Have a 12’ as well and the pre def is a big deal. 👍
@@billythomas9191 what is the towing capacity from the bumper?
If Dodge had an Allison or an Eaton transmission, it'd be the perfect truck.
The 68RFE is the limiting factor on these trucks, but I hear the newer ones are much improved.
Agreed. Cummins w a g56 is the holy Grail for what you can get from the factory imo
They have the Asian transmission available also. Its supposed to be pretty strong.
ATS is working on a Allison plug and play swap kit. But they do warn you a stock Allison is not going to hold up behind a stock cummins, so you will need to get it built at that point why not just build a 68rfe
I bought the 3500 with the Aisin transmission (made in Japan) which is the heavy duty. The service interval is 35,000 so that will cost more. I rebuilt my 2nd gen 12 valve transmission 4 times so didn't want the Chrysler again. It was stiff, so I installed the Carli 3.25 commuter front springs with fox shocks, which leveled the truck. It rides better and still will haul 4100lbs. Problems have been small, but I did replace the turbo actuator myself at 72,000 miles and the plastic upper coolant Y fitting that leaked at 45,000 miles. Also, changed the drag link and tie rod to Synergy. I still own my 12v and love it but the exhaust brake is amazing in tow mode.
Cummins motors were also apparently designed for commercial heavy duty applications and we're dropped into medium duty pickups.
That’s awesome that you have your dream truck. Good for you man 👍
I have a 2012 Ram 2500HD HO Mega Cab 6.7L cummins. Best truck!!!!! We full-time RV.
4th gen Cummins or nothing! Best bang for your buck and that heated steering wheel is clutch!
A trick: you can watch movies at Flixzone. I've been using them for watching all kinds of movies during the lockdown.
@Derrick Enoch yea, been watching on flixzone for since december myself =)
@Derrick Enoch definitely, have been watching on Flixzone for since december myself =)
While I’ve owned all platforms, I agree with most of what your saying. Currently own an 18 3500 Mega cab and an 05 F350 6.0. Blowing head gaskets on these trucks are a hit or miss. I’m a firm believer it’s all in how you treat the truck. I know plenty of people with these trucks on stock head bolts with 400k+ miles and it’s been the greatest trucks they’ve ever owned. Mine is also on stock head bolts with a KC stage 1, and tuning and it toss heavy. It’s also been one of the best and most reliable trucks I’ve ever owned. Take care of your stuff and it will certainly take care of you
I have heard that Cummins is getting a allison transmission next year
No ram is talking about making the assignment in all HD rams
If it does it’ll be the 9 speed since that’s a true Allison, while Ford made the 10 speed for both themselves and GM but Chevy just brands it as an Allison. But it’ll more likely be the ZF Powerline 8 speed, which I think is probably a better transmission than the Allison
My 68rfe went out with 120,000 miles. I now have a built 68. 8,000 bucks later.
I need the rock lights for my 3rd gen. Awesome channel man.
Thanks for your reviews I ended up buying my fourth GEN last week thanks for your great reviews
Awesome. Enjoy her. They are a blast to drive.
Chevy sure keeping up with that price tag though
4th gen night edition is a beast. I saw a 2021 for $57k my heart and wallet cried
They are getting pretty ridiculous on pricing these trucks.
I bought my 2014 Ram 3500 LB 4x4 Laramie used with 38,000 miles in 2019 for $41,000 no sales tax. Great tax write off that year. A new one was going to be near $80,000 with tax without the LineX liner, tinted windows, all 4 Black Rino wheels cracked.
You mentioned how long the truck is already and that a longbed megacab would be horrible to park. Park that Megacab next to a 4 door longbed. That longbed is about 6 inches longer than the megacab.
I didn’t know that. I thought that they were the same length.
Nothing or more reliable or better then the 5.9 12 valve p pump but I love the 6.7 too 4 th gens my favorite body style for sure
I hope to own a 12 valve p pump some day.
I still have my 1996 Dodge 2500 12v with 388,000 miles with my 4wheel popup camper mounted on it. I installed the 2013 12 way seats which are very comfortable. My wife wants me to sell it but it's a total freeway cruiser and Baja runner in the day. My 4th gen pulls my trailer like nothing and hardly touch the brakes with the exhaust brake in tow mode.
Love my 2nd gen
Hey Erik I was thinking of getting my first diesel, it’s a 2013 mega cab Laramie longhorn with 100k miles and I’ve seen reviews saying the engine and transmission has issues and a bunch of other issues along with that, since you owned a 2013 diesel could you give me some first hand advice, thanks and keep up the great content
It’s crazy to say but i only had my 2013 for about 3k miles. I didn’t have a single problem with it. 2013-2018 are all the same in my opinion. In 2014 the suspension changed and i think the axles but the engine and transmission are the same. It should be a solid truckif the previous owners took care of it.
@@okc_garage thanks for your input! I had heard these 2013 models also had an issue with the “death wobble” just wanted to know if you’ve heard of any others with the same issue or experience
The ammount of money dmaxryno puts into his truck, he should just solid axle swap it. It would look nicer too over that drop down cross member
I like 4th gens too. 🤠
Very nice truck!
3rd gen with a 2nd gen swap would be the best pickup....
You like the dual shocks in the front?
It looked cool but i heard it rode better with just one shock from someone that had both setups.
6.7 cummins is a off brand from the 6.7 power stroke
Airboat Madness 🤣🤣🤣
Even my buddies that are die hard Cummins guys tell Me to keep my powerstroke because the 16 manual trans Cummins I want they all say they have more problems and the powerstroke is the best bar none and that’s from 4 Cummins guys that are in the field
@@jaketryban8772 have fun with your $10k fuel system thats a ticking time bomb...
Great video!
Good info.
So you drove a truck for like ...a couple of months and traded it in?
I did and i regretted soon there after.
Just added a new forum on Facebook called 6.7 Cummins reliability if you can join my group I would like to post your videos regarding it. Thanks bro
YO BROTHER, WHAT DO YOU MAKE FOR FUEL MILEAGE? GOOD INFO THANKS
I’m getting about 14.5 on average with mixed city and highway driving.
@@okc_garage DO YOU TOW ANYTHING ????? AND WHAT'S MPG'S TOWING? THANKS
That's what I'm getting on my 3500 too and around 12 mpg pulling my trailer on the freeway
I have an 03 ram 2500 ctd nv4500 and a 2017 ram 2500 6.7. I love the Cummins but my lbz duramax is still bar none the funnest to drive and most comfortable. Ford will never redeem themselves in my books after the 6.0 and 6.4. I had 1 f450 2012 6.7 psd and it’s had blowby like a coal powered train at 240k miles. Never ford again.
All the emissions, and computer crap? Neah best cummins powered rams were back in 12 valves, early 24 valves. Doing away with manual transmissions, egr system’s, more sensors than the space shuttle have made these trucks fragile
5 gen = "4.5" gen 😉😉
Sucks you have to say “hopefully no one gets offended” because people get butthurt over everything 😂
Sup brotha. Love the video content.. I could agree with you any more, everything you've said .. Cummins is the way to go. I have a 99' second gen work truck , 07' 3rd gen mega cab family truck & a 12' peterbilt 389 semi, all cummins over here. They all go to work.. check me out, I'm new to the game. I'm looking to get my channel going and start uploading fun videos I dont care about the nay sayers. Keep em coming bro. And I'd love a chance to win those rock lights, I'm finishing my 3rd gen soon with coilover conversion suspension coming soon, 14 wides, all I need is rock lights to go with my build on my 3rd gen.. 🙏🏽 stay safe brotha.
The best trucks have all taken Ozempic.
Can you tell me what the towing capacity is?
Love the truck and content brother. You mention the navy? I could tell you were gay, much respect still!
🤣🤣🤣
Hahah
Are you an A&P mechanic?
I’m working on my A&P license. I’m a flight engineer in the navy on a Boeing 707.
@@okc_garage that’s awesome man! I’m in school to get me a&p currently and I’m trying to get some money saved up to get one of these badass trucks, will be my first vehicle I’ve purchased myself too!
Pronounced: Deezz-ul
Can I get one for 30 to 40k?
Depends on the options and mileage. They are out there.
Purchased my 2018 ram 3500 tradesman new in June 2019 for 50k I’m sure a 4th gen that’s a couple years old now with some mileage you could find a nice one in the 30-40k range
My 2014 3500 4x4 LB SRW Laramie was $41,000 in 2019 and now CARMAX wants to buy it for $45,000 with 75,000 miles. Crazy times!
Nice truck
