    Bit surprised you didn’t mention how it was probably Morgott and his forces that lead the offensive against Rykard at Mt. Gelmir. He seems like a character that would be particularly zealous to try to kill someone who committed blasphemy and when you are going up the mountain it’s very clearly Lyndel troops fighting there.

    Case well presented. And well dug-up lore increases increases replayability of a game for me, significantly. For me It did, in the case of Skyrim (which I still play, though I have to ditch the ENB), and it does, in the case of Elden Ring, too.

Did he do it for Godfrey, who showed he cared for his son when we see him cradling the corpse? I really wish the game had fleshed out his character more.

    There's a theory, based on how vague 99% of the lore is, that Morgott and Mohg weren't locked away immediately after birth but allowed to live above ground for a while. There are in-game sources that state over time the omen went from being seen as holy and touched by the Crucible to unholy malformed beasts, which means since the timeline of events is even more vague than the lore that the omen might've been accepted up until Godfrey was sent away by Marika, especially since Godfrey in the tone he uses when saying "it's been a long while Morgott" has a tinge of familiarity that implies more time spent together than just seeing his sons at birth. Like i said it's just a theory though.

    Actually (assuming primogeniture) when the Tarnished enters the Lands Between, Godefroy is likely Heir Apparent, followed by Godrick, and then (assuming he is indeed Godrick's legitimate son as some theorize) Gostoc. It's also possible that Godefroy would come after Gostoc if he represents a Cadet Branch of the Golden Lineage. Regardless, it's only after those three that Morgott (or Mohg, depending on which Marika popped out first) would inherit the throne (followed by the younger twin). After that it's complicated and depends on if we're talking about Godfrey's heir, Marika's heir, or the Elden Lord's heir, and whether we count Radagon and Marika as the same person. Assuming it's Godfrey's heir (i.e. the Heir to the Throne of the First Elden Lord), Nepheli Loux is the sixth (and last) in line.
    Of course, technically speaking, Godwyn is still clinically alive, so someone might have to smother his soulless husk before anyone can inherit the throne.

    • @lolihitler4198
      @lolihitler4198 2 года назад

      Not sure on the lore of evergaols but being trapped in a pocket dimension would make any claim godefroy has pretty much impossible to press I imagine. Also I remember haight saying something about godrick being of a distant line of the golden lineage and not a true demigod but he does have a great rune so I suppose that makes him a claimant.

  • @Brunhaam
    @Brunhaam 2 года назад

    Does the daedralogist have any speculation as to Mohg's plan for fort Haight? The spirit outside incriminates him. The knights weapon art solidifies his involvement in the attack and the blood roses add to the evidence. I've yet to figure out why he'd organize a knight disguised as Godricks Soldier take the fort. I wouldn't see his need for that half of the medallion.

    Entertaining video but...
    That is not how succession works in the Lands Between. There is no heir apparent like in real world history where princes or princesses ascend to the throne by virtue of being related to their predecesor. A singular god, a vassal to an outer god, rules with their champion who is named a Lord by their side for an entire age until a new Empyrean shows up with their lord, toppling the previous reign and starts a new age. And Marika would try to snuff out any competition that appear. Just like she did with the Gloam-Eyed Queen.
    Even if Morgott wasn't an omen without an event like the Shattering he would have never got to be Elden Lord and neither would Godwyn.
    Also Radagon shows way much individuality to merely be Marika's "male half". Actively working against her. Trying to repair to repair the Elden Ring while she was breaking it.

    I don't get peoples fascination with this guy. He is one of the worst bosses in the From series games for me. His boss design (not aesthetics but mechanics) seem so... desperate. Like someone just kept asking 'But how can we make him harder' without asking how they could make him better. His whole 'I'm going to strike a pose and then do an incredibly fast swing' gimmick feels so damn video-gamey. He always struck me as a boss that didn't feel like an actual character in the world because he: Seems to have meta knowledge that dodge rolling exists and grants I-frames (hence the crazy long feints that are completely and utterly ridiculous and laughable from the perspective of in-world combat), reads your heal inputs crazy hard (knife throwing for everyone!), has crazy long attack chains that you just have to keep sitting there waiting for him to finish because you cannot attack back, and even has a sub 10 frame counter attack that he can follow some combos with. He doesn't follow EVERY guideline in the 'how to be an embarrassingly terrible Souls boss' booklet, but man does he check a LOT of bosses. He's not even that hard in the end... so, why? Why all these desperate addendums to him that just turn him into a clown?
    For reference, the first time I fought him I kept getting pummeled because I couldn't stop laughing. His huge feints were so utterly asinine and unrealistic from a within-game perspective. He looked like he was posing for each of his attacks. I was half expecting him to call out names for each of his attacks before he did them. I thought there was some meta humor going on. Then as the game went on and I fought more and more bosses with longer and longer attack chains... I started to realize that all the hype may have finally gotten to From software, and some of their devs may have finally started giving up on weaving difficulty into the game design... and have begun just brute forcing it in. Really hope its not true.
    Seriously? Fuck Morgott. Great aesthetic and lore design, but an example of some of the most desperate difficulty I have ever seen. An excellent example of how to make a boss harder without any cohesion as to why that difficulty exists within world. He might as well have just pulled out a gun. At least then I would have taken him a little more seriously.
    His brother though. Now that is a good fight.

    • @calebfouts7118
      @calebfouts7118 2 года назад +3

      Now I'm a Morgott simp so I'm very biased here. But Morgott is the best boss in Elden Ring. His lore is amazing and sad like stated in the video. And his boss fight is incredible imo. First off he screams regality. His arena is the throne room of the Golden Order and Erdtree, he uses holy magic and weapons to fight you. And his ost is a heart swelling and regal in all of its glorious fashion. Now the fight itself if incredibly imo. He is fast but fair. His attacks and combos have openings in almost all of it. And he doesn't do insane damage and has a reasonable amount of health. People like to say how unfair he is because he has no openings but he does you just need to look for them. For example the delays you hate so much you can get hits on him during those delays. And you can bait combos out to then punish them when he finishes them. Now I can see why you hate the delays so much. But I think they are a great way to check for dodge roll spam, and are satisfying to get the timing down and dodge. The only knock I have in the fight is that's it's to easy for where he is in the game. But I don't see it as a negative as I can go in with weaker weapons or purposely draw out the fight. And while the input reading is annoying all you need to do is get some distance. Not to dis on Mohg or anything he is my second favorite fight in the game, but he also has input reading sooo. All in all I love his fight, lore, character design.
