Just had my engine block rebored. The engine rebuilder also told me to clean out the new oil pump as they can contain swarf. What's gone wrong with the manufacturers? They know they are making oil pumps for Christ's sake!
Very simple Paul, the suppliers are demanding a price off the manufacture. this dictates the quality the manufacture can produce to and we end up with this level of quality
Another issue that pumps are having is apparently the rotors are turning on the shaft, so it just starts to turn inside the bore when pressure builds up.
I've got one of the 0 tolerance turbo pumps like that for my turbo build. I'm off to check. Do you lap in the face to reduce the end float in the pump? I've got access to a lathe and the nice oil stone u did for me.
Hi Trevor in some cases yes all that its need is a small amount of lapping to bring the pump into spec however on this pump with 0.2+ mm end float machining will be required
After one of your old (old is used very loosely lol) videos, i managed to sourced a nos one. It will go into my high performance 850 ha ha. Mr Bridger is not impressed is he?

So what is acceptable end float then? Why is that end float bad? And what exactly is the harm of the assembly lube that's in there?
